What's interesting is that the staff is now so skittish about backlash from infractions that today that same series of events probably wouldn't even warrant you an infraction.

No they will still give you infractions considering you know people who know people that they dislike.

AP's Twitter account hacked

I wonder if the Secret Service will investigate this as threats. Next invasion (Y/N)?

that's such a weird thing to try and do and to post something obviously fake on twitter seems like... a waste of a potentially more malicious capability.

i mean they could have reported something with a link-through to malware... something halfway believable that isn't immediately verifiable. tweets are so easily deleted so it's not even like when sites get front page hacks and they have to go back into the code or whatever and revert changes

for people smart enough to hack multinational organizations and companies, hackers are kind of dumb motherfuckers with no foresight sometimes.

you are breaking the law and have the capability to do absurd damage to a company's reputation, users, infrastructure, etc, and you use your illegal hacker status to do the equivalent of writing erasable ink on a bathroom stall.

Like even posting to a catchware site is ridiculously hard off Twitter. They probably just realized Obama's password is "Obama2016".

you can do a lot more damage with social media than writing "SYRIA WAS HERE OBAMA IS A LOSER" on the AP twitter account.
