I'd go at least R/b if you're going the discard route, with Sire of Insanity and Rakdos's Return. And that's still sketchy at best.

@ Fate: BOROS CHARM.

It's the best utility spell in naya in my opinion and good in all your non-agro matchups out of the board(I'd even main a couple). You haven't lived till you boros charmed a ghor-clan bloodrushed creature.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Exactly. If they had indeed reprinted Thoughseize and maybe Despise there would be options. But Duress + AfB--even with Lifebane Zombie--isn't worth the effort without something like Surgical Extraction available to turn it into deck destruction.

There's a funny Modern brew on MTGS called 8rack that runs a bunch of cheap discard and 4 Rack / 4 Shrieking Affliction. 10/10 for tilt potential.

I thought about running 8 rack as my first modern deck before settling on AIR, but my plan on hedging against Leyline was to use global effects. Delirium Skeins, Rotting Rats, Smallpox, etc all work well, and if you run cards that like being in the graveyard like Hakkon, Gravecrawler, Raven's
Crime, etc you suddenly don't care about discarding yourself.

Leyline isn't a card I'm overly scared of in Modern. It's so easy to splash green for a naturalize effect, and the decks that don't care about the battlefield (burn, hand control, etc) usually have a main/side way to lock creatures out.

In my burn deck I have 3 Ensnaring Bridge and 2 copies of Hide // Seek as an escape valve against enchantments, tricky artifacts or the hexproof lifegain durdles.

yeah my thinking was that gcr+boros charm was too cute for a midrage deck and easily disruprted, but fuck it I'm going all in next time.

power is power, and some decks need to be bursted like bw angel post catching on here and junk rites

T-minus 55 minutes until my weekend. I've got some drinking and smoking planned for tonight. And then some Black Ops II. I'm positive that the Black Ops community appreciates my drunk gaming sessions.

Here is what I will be running at FNM tonight. Made some significant changes to what I threw together. Chandra+Young Pyromancer+Gutter Snipe are too good together. This is, of course, based on cards I have available now. Will probably upgrade the spells soon.

[deck]Land 24
24 Mountain

Creatures 12
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Gutter Snipe
4 Ogre Battledriver

Planeswalkers
2 Chandra, Pyromaster

Spells 22
4 Mugging
4 Pillar of Flame
4 Shock
4 Searing Spear
4 Brimstone Volley
2 Flames of the Firebrand

Sideboard 15
4 Chandra's Phoenix
2 Flames of the Firebrand
3 Thunderbolt
3 Traitorous Blood
3 Volcanic Strength[/deck]

I'm sure. Some people think playing Black Ops is always like those funny videos on You Tube. It's most definitely not. So I tend to mute everyone. I just like doing silly shit online when I'm smashed. If someone really wants to tell me off, they can always message me.

[deck]2 Sensory Deprivation
2 Staff of the Mind Magus
1 Messenger Drake
1 Armored Cancrix
1 Air Servant
1 Water Servant
2 Essence Scatter
1 Negate
2 Archaeomancer
1 Nephalia Seakite
1 Zephyr Charge
1 Dismiss into Dream
1 Elixir of Immortality
1 Divination
1 Trained Condor
1 Scroll Thief
1 Frost Breath
1 Disperse
1 Wall of Frost
17 Island[/deck]

Trolling ass draft deck. Why kill people when you can just gain millions of life with staff of the magus and elixir of mortality and stall till you zephyr charge+Dismiss into dream lock them out of the game. Too bad this deck didn't have claustrophobia's or an Opportunity.

Yeah, regrettably Sam Black wrote an article this week telling the world point-blank that blue is totally dominant in M14 draft. Cherry-picking blue and Elixir are going to get tougher as the word spreads and people start viewing Opportunity as a wincon.

Glad it wasn't just me. Every time I'd open a sealed pool, blue looked way better than all the other colours. Even though I hate blue, I found myself having to play it.

I knew blue was BY FAR the deepest cooler in the set, I just didn't know about the mono-blue deck as I'm not ashamed to admit that spotting things like Staff of the Mind Magus is outside of my set evaluation range.

And not only is it the best color, it also has all of the best support cards too. Zephyr Charge is an insane card in basically any deck that plays creatures too, and it's unfortunate that I won't be able to wheel multiples anymore for my GU beats decks where once you Opportunity the party doesn't stop.

Also Thoughtseize isn't necessary in MBC in Modern. This guy has been consistently top8'ing Modern events on MODO playing MBC and his list just plays Inquisition of Kozilek and some Duress in the sideboard.

And sweet-ass cards like Vatmother and Runechanter's Pike. It's like this dude read my MBC primer back on MTGS and decided to improvise.

Well, definitely had my wallet stolen while waiting in line at Chick'fil'a this morning. They caught the guy on the security cameras but that doesn't really mean shit. At least they still let me have the food I ordered as a way to show pity to my relenting soul.

So now my grand scheme to buy a bunch of tix and play MODO is fucking out the window.

It's been kind of chilly/rainy here the last few days, so I've been
wearing my jacket. My jacket that happens to be a 1920s trench made of genuine leather, worth about $600~. Guy comes up to me, yanks my coat off of my shoulder (I was carrying it over my shoulder) and runs out the door. Had my wallet in the breast pocket.

I'm not as upset about the jacket as much as I am at the fact that I now have to replace everything in my wallet. License, debit, credit, etc. It's such a long, irritating hassle to replace these things.

I ran something like this when I played MBC in Modern some time ago:
[DECK]Lands
12 Swamp
4 Tectonic
Edge
4 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
3 Marsh Flats
3 Verdant Catacombs

Spells
4 Thoughtsieze
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
4 Doom Blade
2 Sudden Death
1 Beseech the Queen
4 Damnation
2 Tendrils of Corruption
2 Raven's Crime

Enchantments
3 Phyrexian Arena

Planeswalkers
4 Liliana of the Veil

Artifacts
1 Crucible of Worlds

Creatures
4 Gatekeeper of Malakir [/DECK]
The list is a bit dated, but it did some decent work.

Fucking fuck.
