I wish wizards would make a bald planeswalker. I'm not into cosplay, except on halloween, but I'd love to do a magic character.

Last year I went as Ghost Rider (which was well recieved), John McClane the yeah before that (because people here think I look like Bruce Willis) and Rorona Zorro (from one piece, to try to impress my students) the year before that.

Cosplay this weekend, ill be sure to post pics. The things you do for the people you like :P
I hadn't realized how "big" cosplay is getting globally until Sci Fi announced that they were airing a new series focused on the phenomenon. I did a little research and was seriously astounded at the growth in popularity and depth of the culture. Showing my narrow world awareness again, I'm afraid...
I've been meaning to get some new Steampunk shit to cosplay with, but it turns out that
arbitrarily sticking brass on everything tends to get expensive.

For example, here are the boots:
Image
About $200... which is a bit hard to justify to the significant other (who has no interest in cosplay herself) when my main argument is that the 15 y/o girls at the Cons will think they're sexy.

Bitches. Amirite?

Zem or Alex, I wrote a primer on the B/g Rock deck. It looks like it was moved to the Developing section of Standard. Do you think it's time to move it to Competitive now that it's had numerous strong showings since M14 launched?

I see one good premier and an SCG top 8 recently? Other than that nothing of note. What am I missing? If the archetype continues to pick up steam on MODO ill definitely bump it up.

Honestly, I'm more inclined to prune 'established' down than add at this point, what with the meta becoming UWR, Jund and Rx Aggro primarily.

It's growing as a control deck, representing (currently) about 8% of the overall control metagame, which includes both paper AND MODO results. I'm sure if we give it a few weeks it'll prove itself to be a pretty solid archetype, and at that point I assume we'll bump it up. Moderation of the Standard forum isn't really as much a group effort as it is "exercise common sense and discretion" on an individual basis.

nThe aggro version is still pretty actively awful, though. Can't imagine that will make any waves.

When you click on the link make sure you sort it by "last two weeks."

PS: I actually really like the control version of the deck. When I played MBC at Game Day, one of my biggest complaints was that my threat density, while good, didn't do much to stop me from dying to Thundermaw Hellkite and things like that. The addition of Thragtusk and Scavenging Ooze is a huge boon to the type of deck that wants to be playing a bunch of maindecked Mutilates, and the addition of Abrupt Decay makes dealing with random unbeatable crap (like an opposing Liliana of the Veil with the advent of the new Legendary rule) much easier. I can't count the number of times I wished I had a color that could deal with Assemble the Legion in my deck somewhere, so gaining Naturalize as an option was also a huge
deal.

Green is likely the best color in Magic right now, at least in Standard. I'm not surprised that MBC+[mana]G[/mana] is an effective combo.

Sounds good, Alex and Zem - will trust your judgements on its placement. I thought I'd ask since Photo mentioned it in the primer thread.

Alex - if you like the archetype, please feel free to post in the primer thread! Right now it's really just me and Photo - would love some more activity.

I'd probably use Golgari Charm over Naturalize. You're already running X number of Putrefy, so don't really need the artifact half of Naturalize (along with a lack of relevant targets), and Golgari Charm gives you very relevant options if you don't need to blow up an enchantment.

Golgari Control(Charlie Murphy as my play group calls it) has actually been tearing up modo recently. In the last 3 Premier events on the mothership, Batuhina finished 3rd twice and the most recent modo daily had something like over half of the 8 4-0's being the identical Golgari build.

The deck is certainly competitive by any metric you want to use(I believe it has some open and GP top 8's under it's belt), it's performed well enough to be worth testing against if you plan on going to any big event which is my personal measuring stick for being worth "proven/established" or whatever status.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

I don't think they know what control is if it isn't casting Mana Leak. I'm shocked they've allowed a "control" subforum to exist without the card in the format. :toot:

I just remember that it took a month of petitioning with:
- Rx aggro having a thread more active than the entire 'established' section combined
- Rx aggro being by some margin the best deck on MODO (more than 25% of placing a over a three week period)
Before they accepted the request. Retarded.

I don't think we have the power to create subforums, mostly all we can do is shuffle stuff around and edit posts.

I'm sure we could GET that power but thus far it hasn't really been necessary.

I don't know, I admittedly haven't dicked around much with the moderator panel.

School is starting back up, stinks except FOOTBALL!

Our team is rated 4th in the state for this year, and we'll see if we live up to our rank, as we have to replace our whole backfield from last year, including a 2000 yard rusher. We do return 2 all state linemen (me included), so we are posed to have a good rush attack. I know that the players replacing the class last year are good players, having played with them all my life (including my brother), so I am confidant in our ability to have a good year. Our schedule will be tough, with 4 top ten opponents, so it will be a good year to test us. Our goal is the same as any other year: State Title. We fell short last year, losing in the Semi-finals, but this year i want to go all the way, as that would make the senior year special for me.

As for me personally, as a returning all stater I have been placed as the 6th best Senior in our class and am hoping to have a big year.
Last year i had 91 tackles and 4 fumble recoveries, and I am looking to improve on those numbers so I can get a football scholarship for college, as that has been my goal for a long time, as football is my greatest love!

Just saying that I probably won't be as active in the coming months due to it. Not that i won't post, but there may be stretches. (Not that I contribute very much to MTG anyways)

Oh god i can't wait.. September 12 is the first game

I better stop here before I write an essay on my football team :D

Why is that? Haste on Legion Loyalist makes up for that 1 point of damage which is the difference. And unlike Denizen, Loyalist has lots of utility late.

My experience is that against decks that don't block, Foundry is worth 4+ more damage on average which is substantial.

played a slight budget Naya list today:

4 Avacyn's Pilgrim
2 Arbor Elf
2 Scavenging Ooze
2 Strangleroot Geist
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Loxodon Smiter
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager
4 Wolfir Silverheart

4 Domri Rade
3 Selesnya Charm
3 Advent of the Wurm

24 Land
4 Stomping Ground
4 Rootbound Crag
4 Temple Garden
4 Sunpetal Grove
4 Sacred Foundry
2 Forest
1 Selesnya Guildgate
1 Gruul guildgate

SB:
2 Garruk Primal Hunter
1 Aurelia, the Warleader
1 Kessig Wolf-Run
2 Possibility Storm
3 Unflinching Courage
2 Oblivion Ring
2 Bonfire of the Damned
2 Zealous Conscripts

Domri -2 with a reckoner souldbound with silverheart is a pretty insane thing to do apparently. I never wished the Ghor-clans were huntmasters or resto angels, because my aggro MU is fine. I didn't play against jund so theres that, but bloodrushing with scavenging ooze and eating it or souldbounding ghor-clan to silverheart was just so nice.

Silverhearts weren't hellkites, but the manabase can't even get double red without clifftop retreats (which I don't have either). Silverheart soulbound with a flashed in EoT wurm was HUGE game though, and like I said silverheart anything is money.

It definitely suited my aggressive style, and having stuff that can swing into thragtusk. The SB options were nice, although I'm not sure how necessary Zealous Conscripts is. It should probably just become 2x flex spots for anti-aggro (mortars? I think I have enough game against them already), control (I was considering ruric thar but that's pretty topheavy and possibillity storms are enough, maybe boros charm.)

Didn't miss mortars. can't overload them on this mana base anyway, and I just never have liked sorcery speed removal. Flashing in a wurm? Now THATS removal (its a GREEN wurm too, go fuck yourself blood baron).

Can't wait to find some voices somehow... (not the strangleroot disappointed me, but he's awkward on the mana at times).

Golgari Control [...]

The deck is certainly competitive by any metric you want to use(I believe it has some open and GP top 8's under it's belt)
It was in the top 8 at GP Warsaw.

Eps 280-370 are hulu plus only I think. Im current on series on Hulu(have plus for watching via ps3 on 48inches ), and holy crap does it get even better as it goes on. Always waiting to see what new bad ass thing happens next.

Ill have to toss up my recent cosplay pics with the wife. Did Finn and Fire Princess from Adventure Time.

Anyone working on a rotation shell or are we waiting till theros spoilers? Any decks that stay mostly intact? AiR looks like it just needs some tweaks

Been debating Meta attack angles with friends and if there's a window for MBC with good discard effects.thoughts?
Some men just want to watch the planes burn. . .and most of them are here.
