Siding out the pyromancers and strikers would be a bad idea as there are no creatures to side in for them. If you side them out, I doubt you'll get there before huntmaster and thragtusk do their thing... Unless you draw multiple skullcracks.Did your tests use the sideboards? I'm not sure but it looks like the matchup gets a lot less awkward once you've sided out the Pyromancers or Strikers.

Very nice. I need to write something delving into red deck theory, for example, how arc trail compares to mind rot etc; lots if different little theoretical considerations that aren't obvious (eg: the explanation of the goodstuffred deck that couldn't lose a red mirror).

Don't think charm adds much to the deck. Yeah, wrath protection, but there aren't really that many supreme verdicts running around and it's unlikely you're in a spot to play around electrolyze. I'd rather grenade bitches myself. Knucklebone/auntie is interesting however. Auntie's like...the worst hedge as an extra chieftan/wardriver, but I've won to many games with her in modern masters to care and being a hard lord affect is solid. Knucklebone doesn't have much upside in this type of deck, but being a one drop, that doesn't actually mean anything.

I mean, if Knucklebone randomly becomes a 2/2 or 3/3 then it's just crazy in this deck. Kinda silly that that's all you need haha. Maybe I just want Gargadon and mono R. That's wrath insurance as well (and technically a mana sink!).

There's currently a discussion on one of the local Magic forums about Modern Goblins. I'm not registered there, so I won't comment in the thread, but the discussion about Shared Animosity got me thinking. A couple of posters don't understand the appeal of Shared Animosity, saying it a pure win-more card and Goblin Grenade is the way to go, because that and Lightning Bolt give more reach. While I can agree that SA can be a win-more card in several situations, I'm not convinced that GG is the better choice. Any thoughts on that?

Goblin grenade is more consistent, but I think both cards have merit. Animosity looks win more, but there are actually board states where it's the only card that wins the game. If you're playing animosity and spikeshot elder in your deck because of animosity, THAT'S close to win more and more of a "the danger of cute things" type of situation.
Grenade is also amazing though. I've used both cards together to kill an affinity player that was at way to much life from having ravager "equip" his board state to his vault skirge and I untapped, slammed animosity down, swung, then grenade his ass to death.

I think it might come down to playstyle really, like the discussion about FotF vs BV in the RDW thread. If there was a way to have both SA and GG in the deck, that would be cool. But I don't think that can be done, at least not without dropping a few Bolts. And SA together with Loyalist is sweet because of the First Strike and Trample.
Perhaps:
2x Lightning Bolt
3x Shared Animosity
3x Goblin Grenade
instead of:
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Shared Animosity/Goblin Grenade
Perhaps:
2x Lightning Bolt
3x Shared Animosity
3x Goblin Grenade
instead of:
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Shared Animosity/Goblin Grenade

Bolt isn't actually a sacred cow in this deck. It's reasonable to play grenade instead. Also, I'm on episode 260ish of One Piece and I really like franky mostly because he has 2 ho's with square afros. Watching them walk sideways in the wind was pretty funny.

How successful are you, Johnny? It looks like you're just trying to play Legacy Goblins with only new-bordered cards.
And James, I think we'd all appreciate another theory article from you. I just re-read your RDW primer out of boredom, and it's still fantastic. It's probably the best primer I've ever read, since it really goes beyond the cards and goes into the theory, strategy and history of the deck. 10/10, would recommend.
LP, I'm checking your article out as well. Behind all of your swag is the brain of one of the most intelligent Magic players I've ever known. I guess that's one more thing for you to add to the wall of ego that is your Sally sig.

Legion Loyalist + Dynacharge or Firefist Striker or PyreheartRed couldn't handle all the 3/3 GB played.
When playing decks that have better pound creatures you have to evaluate your lines at least one turn out to know where you can squeeze the damage in. In some matches you are the worse beat down deck so you really need to make sure your SB allows you to take a bit more of the control role.
Some men just want to watch the planes burn. . .and most of them are here.
