Sorry, I haven't been around much--too busy with defending my dissertation and moving to Ohio--missed everyone though.

Here's a fun one for you. Trying to find if Isequenced this for the best line.

Opener: mountain mountain vault cacklecackler bte LM
T1: mountain cackle
T2: draw zealot. No opposing creatures

Now here I tanked and attack then played mountain double cackle > vault bye LM.

I believe that's the line that gives the best t4 lines running KDW core. Thoughts?

The defense was a success--I am now done with all academic requirements of my degree. I should be a Psy.D. this time next year. It looks like I might actually be able to graduate before I die.

Just all of them. It's a good time to be mountain.
The pyromancer seems like big game, but I recognize he could also be a bit too cute to actually do anything helpful--Recent lists seemed to have been very creature focused with less spell support.

I'm also liking the idea of mutavault,
but it looks like it would screw a lot of the multi-colored manabases up.

Congratulations on the successful defense, Aesnath. Good to see you again.

And the vagaries of life stopped by for a visit with me again. I signed up to teach four classes for the fall semester to bring in some extra money. The court-ordered visitation schedule for my ex effectively destroyed that idea since the service is open only two nights per week. On top of that, one of the cars needed several hundred dollars worth of repairs before we could renew its tags.

Why was I so eager to be an adult?
Same here.
I'm spending most of my days now trying to figure out how to run company and not give away 70% of your income to country WHILE also paying lots of cash not dependent on anything. Obstacles you face when you try to start a company here (most funny thing: even while it doesn't generate any profit for first year for example) are just absurd. My brain slowly melts as I was supposed to deal mostly with creative writing, game design and handling contact with other people. Yes, I can actually write pretty well in English (damn it, that would be weird if I couldn't as I'm currently writing the scenario and handling contacts with people around the world). Anyone knows how UK handles money gathered with Crowdfunding? The only reason I don't want to start
the company there is fact, that it's hard to get a good accountant who would handle it - and even while most of the stuff is easy, it's important to not get fucked over in terms of CrowdFunding.
Oh, and I'm still looking for a job. But there's none. For no one. Except of selling scam D2D, which usually means frauding old people to buy something they really don't need but due to their age they are naive/scared enough to buy it. Money doesn't stink, as roman emperor has said once... but there are limits, right?
Fuck.

Launder taxable income through hundreds of bitcoin transactions, then forge a contract in your tax haven of choice. Avoid language barriers unless you want a special kind of challenge. Maintain minimalist expense deduction and low-key Schedule A profit/loss margins. Pay and report VAT on your reduced taxable income like clockwork.

A quality accountant will save you a couple lifetimes' of money over the course of your friendship, so make a friend.

Also, if someone would be interested, here are some minor arts from the game. Logo, main character (Philip Hackneye, private detective with issues) and Mia Rushi (well... a hooker. with issues as well). http://imgur.com/a/20MRp

Business as usual?

Let's not pretend that austerity & UK code overhaul 2010 are anything but attempts to stymie bleeding caused by a lot of illegal money moving around at unfathomable magnitude. This isn't one of those Part of the Solution / Part of the Problem dichotomies.

Also uh

MODO is crack. My dopamine-filled lizard brain is screaming at me to keep playing and pulling the slot lever. Holy shit no wonder Hasbro wants to kill Cockatrice and other digital platforms; they've cornered family-friendly online gambling. GIVE ME MORE.

Monochrome art is rad, and I never get sick of the Private Dick noir angle. Hoping things go well for you with the game and the girl.

I have to admit that we are going with something closer to Neo-Noir. We want to fuse that nearly poetic Noir (hey, Chandler is one of my main inspirations!) with something more realistic and brutal. I think the closest thing to what we want to achieve is Taxi Driver movie. Hell, you could check this: http://www.indiegogo.com/project/preview/008ab245 (Gameplay part is waiting to be re-written).

Don't put your deck in the [Fires of Salvation]

Postby Platypus » Tue Aug 06, 2013 9:34 pm

So I'm planning for M14 Game Day (we all want that playmat, right?), and I'm looking at my options and I've just about finished with my decklists. Now I just have to decide which deck. The contenders are: Gruul Aggro, AIR, and KDW, with the following decklists:
Gruul Aggro
[deck]Gruul Aggro[/deck]
Plusses:
- I'm familiar with it, had some good results with similar decks earlier
this year. I feel this version is better than those. I dropped Boros Reckoner for Pyreheart Wolf, and put Firefist Strikers back in instead of Ash Zealots. And the fourth Hellrider helps as well. Mizzium Mortars and Skullcrack give better SB options than the earlier one.

Minuses:
- I don't get to play with any new toys (Mutavault, Burning Earth, Chandra's Phoenix). I really would like those Burning Earths in the deck I'm using.
- Unsure how well it performs against the current meta.
AIR
[deck]AIR[/deck]
Plusses:
- It's probably more
explosive than the Gruul deck. Could come as a surprise to others as well.

Minuses:
- Very unfamiliar with playing it.
- Unsure about that Goblin Shortcutter, but I don't know what (or if) I should replace it with. Chandra's Phoenix, Ash Zealot, Pyreheart Wolf, Searing Spear, Mizzium Mortars have all entered my mind. Or something else? Also, should I run Foundry Street Denizens instead of Stromkirk Nobles?
- Unsure if I can get a playset of Mutavaults.
KDW
[deck]KDW[/deck]
Plusses:
- Very similar to the Gruul deck so I can probably learn this one
more easily than the AIR deck.
- Get to play with Burning Earths. Perhaps a better sideboard over all compared to the others.
- Little mana issues.

Minuses:
- Unsure if I can get a playset of Mutavaults.
- It feels like the Gruul deck have a few more powerful options, Flinthoof Boars and Ghor-Clan Rampagers. I will miss those. But still, are they better than Ash Zealots and maindecked Pillars?

Just got done catching up on everything I missed from the past week. Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. @photodyer - I lifted a pint of Great White ale on my B-day when I visited Lost Coat Brewery in Eureka, CA. When I got back to work today, my buddy tells me there is a brewery about 10 minutes north in Arcata called Redwood Curtain Brewery that makes (in his opinion) the best belgian he's ever had. It was right under my nose and I didn't even realize it. Shit. Oh well, I've got a sasquatch pelt as a b-day present. That's gotta count for something.

Platypus - I would run Nobles and Denizens together in your AiR list. This might just be me, but I would cut 2 Mutavault and 2 Hellrider for 4 Denizens.

Platypus, this is my current KDW, totally taking into consideration of PSully's advice and utilizing the can't block, won't block philosophy :

[Deck]
Creatures 31
4x Stromkirk Noble
4x Rakdos Cackler
3x Legion Loyalist
4x Burning-Tree Emissary
4x Lightning Mauler
4x Firefist Striker
4x Pyreheart Wolf
4x Hellrider

Burn 7
3x Pillar of Flame
4x Searing Spear

Land 22
4x Mutavault
18x Mountain

Sideboard
3x Burning Earth
3x Skullcrack
3x Mizzium Mortars
2x Traitorous Blood
4x Volcanic Strength
[/deck]

The deck is designed to use Battalion triggers to its advantage, thanks to Big Mudes, while ignoring blockers as it sets up for a Hellrider finale. Sideboard punishes the decks with bigger strategies utilizing ambitious manabases and lifegain, while also offering an all-in approach to the mirror with Volcanic Strengths as additional evasive enablers.

It's a lot of fun.

Yes, it's almost like
the other version of the deck. But fuck Ash Zealot right now. There, I said it. The deck doesn't need her. I'm right and everybody else is wrong. :)

I also understand it could benefit from Dynacharge. But I want to burn things instead.

No loam lion?
For my fix I've been playing and really enjoying legacy goblins recently online.
Also for the eternal format that everyone here plays, I've been enjoying (cant believe it right?) the trio of eternal command, eternal gifts, and teachings. A bit of relief for anyone that doesn't want to play the boring as fuck uwr deck.

Can someone give a party face? Cause I just said I enjoyed a modern deck.

Eternal Command is a FUN deck.

Standard brewing, Rakdos Midrange:

4 Ash Zealot
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Hellrider
4 Young Pyromancer

3 Brimstone Volley
3 Doom Blade
4 Pillar of Flame
4 Searing Spear

4 Blood Crypt
4 Dragonskull Summit
4 Mutavault
3 Rakdos Guildgate
9 Mountain

That's 58 cards. Need two more spells. Was considering:
- Flames of the Firebrand (probably gluts me on 3 drops though)
- Devil's Play
- Rakdos' Return
- Toil / Trouble
- Bonfire of the Damned (maybe move stuff around to get 3-4 copies)

Open to suggestions. Trying to hit a comfortable point between the straight aggro plan of Dos Rakis and the 'go big' sideboard plan. This version has a less overwhelming top end, but avoids all the weak top decks; so in theiry it should be very consistent and overall card quality is VERY high.

I like Loam Lion, but I'm using Experiment One into BTE into Experiment One + Kird Ape / Stormblood (to
be 'goyf once I win a few events) in the early turns. That doesn't leave a lot of room in the early turns for a [mana]W[/mana] creature that looks for forests. Not coming easily off of a BTE chain makes me reluctant to dedicate a turn to it.

I want to say Olivia or Thundermaw deserve some spots, but as you are lowering your curve creature wise i would fit a pair of bonfire there. Goes with Pyromancer, and has all the stigma that miracling it does past turn 4+, usually just leading to probably a win on your part
