Lots of powerful little interactions once you get going of course. Please don't suggest Goblin Guide.

Why Tec-Edge/Goblin Ruinblaster over Goblin Guide/Blood Moon?
Tec-Edge, as anything other than a tron hoser/destroy utility lands, seems miserable, it's much harder to color screw in the format when %30 of decks play DRS, and you lack a good Sinkhole/Wasteland effect.
That said, I'm always a fan of copying Siege Gang commander with Kiki-Jiki on an opponents end step.

- Blood Moon locks me out of my second colour, since I can't fetch a swamp
- Most decks can play around Blood Moon that need to. Repeated LD does what I need usually.
Guide doesnt fit into any mana denial strategy, ever. Great in aggro decks look to execute a win in a small window of opportunity, but this deck doesn't do that.
Chieftain plus Redcap plus Gargadon is a fun interaction.

I help those who at least try to answer their own questions. I'm not ever going to be here to spoonfeed; I do that for work but at work I get paid.

Was good to me this weekend. I didn't drop a single game until top 8, then scrubbed out. Favourable matches to be fair.Young Pyromancer is the most fun you can add to a deck.
I wish my buddy would quit with the G/W mid / life gain deck. He won the GPT. I got 5th. Won my flight to GP: Kitakyushu though!

It's possible that vial is good in this deck. Makes winstigator better.
Also, resorted to Hulu to get into One-Piece. haven't regretted it through twenty some odd episodes. Even ignored the magic world championships for it and I'm like, the biggest Reid fanboy.

I never insinuated Guide falls into a mana denial strategy, I only asked why your mana denial package was better than Goblin Guide and Blood Moon- Blood Moon locks me out of my second colour, since I can't fetch a swamp
- Most decks can play around Blood Moon that need to. Repeated LD does what I need usually.
Oh, and while you're at it, explain to me how Guide fits into any mana denial strategy, ever.
Which decks are we talking about, UWR, Scapeshift and tron all have to answer that card before they can really do anything else.
LD in modern is fucking awful, Tec-Edge doesn't do in modern what wasteland does in legacy, in fact, it can't even pretend to do that, it kills utility lands, sometimes colorscrews, and has applications
against tron g1, but acting as LD that gives you tempo, nope, it doesn't do that, unless you pair it with stone rain, I guess maybe the better question is why ruinblaster not in the main? (or stone rain, etc)
What is your deck trying to do then, because it certainly feels like an aggro deck?
- It's not controlling the board in any substantial fashion
- there is no literal "I win" combo in the deck (sure Greater Gargadon with a couple of knuckleback witches/kiki jiki is but that hardly is the focus of the deck)
- So I'm assuming your wanting to file this under the midrange section, which I honestly have a problem with, as your deck doesn't really do anything midrangey, it doesn't play hatebears, it doesn't play disruption into beaters, it doesn't do anything midrangey, it's only form of disruption (maindeck anyway) are the tec-edges which aren't very good as LD

Irrelevant. Action wasn't declared. I'm not going to dig through the competitive REL rulebook, butHe tapped seven mana and reached for his graveyard. It's pretty clear what he was doing. What? When the guy tried to double burn him before he announced his intention?I enjoyed the world's coverage, except for Cifka. That guy is a scumbag.
He was right. The judge made the wrong call.
the two reasons why this is a bad ruling is
1.) Declared actions pass priority, which had not yet occurred.
2.) Even if the opponent had priority already, Cifka can respond accordingly.
Do I think he was probably going to cast Forbidden Alchemy? Absolutely. Does that mean that the ruling was upheld correctly? Absolutely not. His opponent played it incorrectly, and the burden should not be on the player playing within the rules. After having played as much competitive Magic as I have, I've learned to ALWAYS make sure my opponent declares EVERY action, regardless of whether or not they think I'm being an "asshole" for it, and it's for this exact purpose.

And he totally should have gotten a warning for that much earlier in the round than that. I don't think it was a good call because I think the judging was just lackluster in general at the entire event. I get that these are some of the "best" players in the world, but they still ought be rightfully policed so as to represent the game well.Cifka hadn't been declaring things though. I think it was a good call.
I can't blame him personally for using a judge to settle it when he was well within the confines of the rules to do so. This doesn't make him a scumbag. His opponent jumped the gun and that's bad Magic. Besides, he was forthcoming about it. He even said "I wanted to cast Alchemy but I also have the counterspell in my
hand and I want to win." He didn't have to say that, he could have just feigned ignorance.

People who play Eggs are dog rapist.Playing eggs. Which makes him an asshole too. lolCifka was REALLY good at the PT he won, so it's probably break even.
That's a verifiable fact.

The deck takes a lot of math. I'm honestly shocked more of the Poker-turned-Magic players weren't playing the deck considering the mental math it required. It seemed like something EFro would have jumped at. *Shrug.*Playing eggs. Which makes him an asshole too. lolCifka was REALLY good at the PT he won, so it's probably break even.

Yeah, real big guys, ripping on a PT champion that has substantially more class than the vast majority of the US name players.

Nothing against him personally, but he does rape dogs.
I can tell because he plays Eggs.
And people who play Eggs are dog rapist.
(Also, the above cat is an excellent Eggs player)

Lessons from the weekend:
1) Trust your experience. Don't audible decks without doing enough testing. Swapped from KDW to AiR.
2) Don't change lists you haven't tested. Swapped Pyro for Zealot in AiR. Regrets. Lots of games with Foundry BTE Cackler Zealot Charge Mountain Muta, missed the damage points and had to struggle for close.
3) Red is powerful. Watched a dude enter a standard red into our modern ptq cuz his ride was playing. Takes 3rd of 12 after getting comboed out g3 in Semis by Pod.
4) Wife is awesome. Encourages long weekend after reading txts with chick I started dating wanting to try existing locked in a room for 3 days subsisting on sex fluids alone.
5) Strip MTG is now a thing.
6) MTGO clan is slowly growing! Added Valdrith and Self_Medicated. Think Nuwen is still missing PM me with yer username!
7) A clan of fiery
bastards that can appreciate this list.

I thought Cifka handled it very well. I hadn't seen coverage of any of his other matches prior to that point, so if I was biased at all it would only be whatever ingrained cultural bias I have as someone living in the Northeastern United States. Here's what I thought about it:
1. He was very clearly going to flashback forbidden alchemy
2. He admitted that he was clearly going to flashback forbidden alchemy
3. His opponent clearly jumped the gun and did not wait for priority (which should have been an easy thing to do)
4. The game was being played very quickly at that point and both players were making multiple shortcuts.
I believe that Alex's description of the rules is technically correct. I think the judge was within his right to make the decision he made, but I would have preferred it if the game-state had been rolled back. Untap the lands, put the spear and skullcrack back in hand, and proceed from there.
nOne way to think about this is that he tapped his lands and looked at his graveyard. So what? He didn't announce anything, and a player is free to float mana through a phase whenever they'd like. You're welcome to float your mana, look through your graveyard, and then cast something from hand. Or even burn the mana.
