"Close your eyes.
Give me your hand.
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?
or is this burning
an eternal flame?
Say my name!
Sun shines through the rain!
A whole life so lonely,
then you come and ease the pain.
I DON"T WANT TO LOSE THIS FEELING
IS THIS BURNING AN ETERNAL FLAME!"
Give me your hand.
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?

Say my name!

Wow...I'm missing all the asshat fun again!!!!
Sorry to be so scarce my brothers but it's been a craaazy week!! Had off on Sunday last for our GP, then worked Mon-Wed nights, then off Thursday and back in Friday day for a full 8-hour customer service training seminar at the USDA (not as bad as it sounds...a couple of vets spoke about their experiences in war/combat and their perspectives as VA patients and the facilitator was outstanding). Then a quick nap, midnight prerelease, another nap, Saturday evening packing, prerelease Sunday, sleep 6P-12A, then my daughter and I loaded up the rental car and drove to Cincinnati through the night and hit King's Island amusement park about 1 this afternoon. We are now resting and hitting the place for a full day tomorrow, then driving 3 hours or so north to Sandusky to spend 2 days hitting the top coasters in the country at Cedar Point. I'm tired!!!
Prereleases were extremely fun, though I went a frustrating 2-2-0 both times. At midnight release my pool was fantastic in blue, but too well distributed in the other colors. I ended up playing Ub control/flyers as I had 7 flyers including the Evos Isle dude to make them all cheap, black Intimidate dudes plus Reaver and a great removal/tempo suite. I really should have gone 3-1, but round 2 I saw absolutely ZERO islands in 2 games. So damned frustrating--I played the guy 2 more hands afterwards and crushed him when my deck stopped being the variance poster child. Ah well. Sunday I had 7 slivers in R/G plus the sliver construct and triple Chandra's Outrage, Garruk and great support cards...I just don't think my head was in it well enough. The rounds I won were aggro nightmare romps on the other guy; I think I just didn't mulligan aggressively enough in the rounds I lost and started too slow for the deck. Even with the
middling record, though, I had so much fun curving out...one game went T1 Striking Sliver, T2 Predatory Sliver swing for 2, T3 Blur Sliver swing for 8 (he Fogged, still with no board presence), T4 Sliver Construct swing for 11 then he scooped after draw. Also had fun using Garruk's +1 in one game to pull stacks of gas from my library, though I ended up taking him out as he was too slow despite being a bomb (I needed to win games before 6 land hit).
@Alex--Cackler sounds awesome--can't wait to see it!
@windstrider--Damn I'm sorry to hear that you keep getting bricked upside the head, my friend...hope you are feeling better at least.
re: Dega Midrange--LK stated after working extensively with the deck that it was too inconsistent; I found the same as I almost always wanted something else in my hand than what I had with the deck.
Okay, gotta get stuff together for an early coaster day...heat here is outrageous so we want to be hitting water rides by afternoon. Keep the chuckleheads in line
over there on Sally...

I really should stop trying to enjoy modern. Every time i attempt it i get super pissed and have absolutly no fun. Just tried again playing melira pod, and i got the shit kicked out of me by the variance stick, culminating in an utter thrashing by soul sisters in probably the worst fashion i have ever been beaten in.... by drawing 22 land over the course of 2 games, and not casting a single pod, chord or 2/3s of the combo while he had the god draw... Would'nt be as bad if it wasn't soul sisters, but it had to be soul sisters. fuck that deck

I REALLY don't like that deck. It might be my least favorite deck in all of magic. Why? I don't know, many tiny things, though mostly probably the feeling that the deck shouldn't be good, that in a non-rotating format a deck like that should never be viable, but it probably me projecting my dislike of modern onto the deck i hate the most in it.Soul Sistas bringin you down, son. <3I really should stop trying to enjoy modern. I just posted a very skill intensive, very rewarding UB Trzzerator deck in the ideas thread if you want to try something different. Also, 29 mana sources and 4 thirst for knowledge; variance be damned!

The BW aggro deck is a bit more fun than straight WW (obviously way more expensive).
You get to play:
- Deathrite (you have 1 overgrown tomb)
- Tidehallow Sculler
- Dark Confidant
- Liliana
- Lingering Souls
- Hero of Bladehold
- Zealous Persecution
That's a very nice start to a deck. Also, Vault of the Archangel.

Gaining 15 life with Martyr of Sands and swinging big with Serra Ascendants/Ajani's Pridemates turn three is pretty fun.

Nothing has ever pissed me off more than my last Modern FNM at my local shop. Was trying out UWR Twin. Instead of playing actual meta like my brother and buddy were playing I instead played against 2 counter/mill decks and someone fogging and lucksack and hardcasting Emerkul. Frustrating.I REALLY don't like that deck. I love modern though. Pretty much running various builds of Twin and Affinity while Goblins is my fun deck.

I personally think it's great to call Kamahl out on his errors. But doing it in a way that is lynching and name-calling brings a pretty bad name to our clan. It's difficult to have a self-policing policy when part of that self-policing is reliant upon telling people off in a level-headed way. It's easier to bring someone down with "Your claims for purge the profane are ridiculous, as everyone has already pointed out" as opposed to "Haha what a moron". Most of the FoS posts in the Dega midrange thread fall in the former category, but quite a few posts also fall in the latter category.
I think we can portray a better image of ourselves as people with a solid grasp of the game and not being afraid to stand up against people because we occupy the moral high ground, rather than as a group who lynches people. It helps both sites immensely.

Also, Sasky, I know you're a mod over there and all, but I'd like to point out that the end result of our mob lynching is that the thread is now discussing mana base issues and how to make an inconsistent deck more consistent instead of why you should or shouldn't play shitty 2nd tier alternatives to fantastic top-tier cards.I personally think it's great to call Kamahl out on his errors. But doing it in a way that is lynching and name-calling brings a pretty bad name to our clan. Maybe some people don't like the process, but you can't argue with dem results.
