Is MBI good in Modern? My guess is "probably not." It was a pretty mediocre deck in Standard, and it had basically all of the same tools when it was Standard that it has in Modern, with the obvious exception of Nightmare Lash being another set of Lashwrithes. Thoughtseize also seems alright and is likely a lot better than the Inquisitions I was playing. But beyond that, what is there that is really gained? It doesn't seem like much.

Also yes, I consider myself a rather knowledgeable figure on the archetype. I played it at a LOT of FNM's.

Grandmother told me about those bugs when she was living in Florida decades ago. Apparently they have something similar in Okinawa. Here in LA, we have regular cockroaches which are just large, ugly and scurry on the ground like nature intended.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

For Modern, I desperately want Young Pyromancer, Snapcaster mage, and 20+ spells to be a good deck.

Phyrexian Crusader is one of the main reasons I'm playing it.

That, and the meta over yonder is slow enough to make it viable.

I think him and KoI could be bros. Not in Modern, but they'd hang out at the bar and pick a fight with Geist of Saint Traft after a few Jager Bombs.

One of the best things you can do right now is play B/r and play Pyroclasm, especially since your main win condition doesn't die to it. Obviously this makes some of the other cards in the deck significantly weaker, but it's worth not losing to Zoo.

Just occurred to me that Whipflare also could be an option if you opt to play Signal Pests and Ichorclaw Myr instead of Plague Stingers and Whispering Specters.

Although the obvious downside is that your G1 matchup against Robots isn't covered anymore.

Decided to be disciplined and draft boros instead of Rakdos for once. Rewarded with first pick truefire paladin. But really, all your red deck needs are goblin pikers and rubbelbelt makkas.

Bugs don't bother me really. Humingbirds that pretend there Giant fucking flying beatles do. And I guess the existence of brown recluses upsets me a bit. Twice I found them in my dorm room when I was in OKC. Once in my bad right as I was about to lay down. I just started at it for a second before evicting him from this existence do to squatting on my property without paying rent. And being dangerous as fuck for no reason.

Totally want to go to Vega. Alas, I do not have the money. Especially jail bond money. But man, we'd totally be the wolfpack. The Pyreheart Wolfpack. We can only be blocked by two or more redheads.

Though I am going to GP Miami. Who wants to come down and snort coke off a hooker's ass with me?

Yeah, would love to, but money is tight and gas ain't cheap. Plus I worry about my wife. She usually feels terrible on the weekends, and I don't want her to have to deal with the kids in that condition. I don't know. Just feeling sorry for myself. Anyways, I'm finally getting out of work. Time to have a beer and watch the Giants game. :munch:

The pics are of a colony of dubia roaches; South American, related to Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. They are excellent lizard food, hence the colony; they are great because they don't stink like American Cockroaches or crickets, and more importantly they cannot live/reproduce in our climate (or homes) because they need higher temps (I have a heating element on the bottom of their container to maintain the heat and humidity they need). The last means that even if one escapes here or there, it just dies in a few days and they can't infest. They also lack the climbing ability of American and German roaches, so a vented Rubbermaid container keeps them where you put them. They egg crates provide surface area/crawlspaces/cover for them, and also make it easy to collect some at feeding time (pick up egg crate, shake over secondary container, dinner served).

I have been a zoo-head my whole life--I was mad for books about any
sort of animal as a kid and would regularly go hunting for reptiles, amphibians and bugs. That being said, I tend to draw the line at spiders as well (at least those capable of envenomating humans...I find orb weavers though to be utterly fascinating). I don't care to handle tarantulas, and I hate recluses with a full-on passion (we had them get in our first house when my son was young...he got mild bites a couple of times from sitting down on them in the shower before we saw them--damned things are always looking for water).

Regarding GP's: We have one in KC the first weekend of July (5th-7th) if anyone wants to come out this way. It's Modern so I won't be playing (no deck, no experience in the format), but I'll be there playing in side events most likely. Would love to see some FoS brothers come this way!
