I actually got a job offer from a CEO by telling him how to talk to women and demonstrating my technique: be Eminem. Say whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want and simply don't give a shit. If the chick is really hot, you probably want to insult her(in a playfulish way) as much as you compliment. If you're having conversation, get them to talk about themselves and pretend to care. When you talk about yourself, make sure you talk about something you're very knowledgeable about. Women like men who are "masters" of a subject. It can be literal anything, so long as you play it up. I definitely make myself sound like the Kobe Bryant of magic. Just make sure to keep the tech heavy speak low so they can sort of follow you and don't go on at too much length. Mostly I just like to do things organically and I just say whatever I feel like, keep my body language open, and make physical contact as soon as
possible to get them comfortable with me touching them. This is easiest at a bar in my experience.

I know many techniques. My dad never taught me anything about girls, TV and movies portray it inaccurately, and girls lie/don't know what they like.

Luckily for me, I discovered the pickup community in 2003 (from a warcraft 3 forum) and learned why I wasn't getting any success.

I'm not involved with them anymore, but it was very useful for a time as I learned what women respond to, how an attractive man behaves and how to take control of my life.

Again, this is pretty much it exactly.

The pickup community seemed to really make it big around then...that's when I discovered it, learned what I needed to know, and got out.

I don't know if it's for sales, or what, but I think the "mainstream" PUA guys have kind
of taken it too far, as evidenced by the behavior of Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory...or even Magic's own Mike Flores. I thought it was silly when the advice back in the day was "Even if you don't smoke, get the coolest lighter that makes the biggest flame you can find, so you have a conversation starting option anytime a hot girl asks you for a light." Back in the fraternity...the dudes who got novelty lighters were the ones who got mocked. Nowadays, the PUA advice seems to roughly be "Dress like a clown, so you stand out."

except for the word aggressive. I'd recommend assertive instead. Aggressive has an ugly undertone that I feel doesn't belong in relationships.

Gruul Sligh is still a better deck, including heads up play. It's much more consistent. Of course you'll lose when they nut draw but you have many more keepable hands by virtue or being on basically one color (green splash for ~12 spells).

That's a very good question. Cards that remove blockers with value (Firefist Striker, Goblin Shortcutter) might be needed in big numbers to help get damage past them early; there is also Legion Loyalist to invalidate the token. Those sort of indirect answers are what I would prefer to explore first, without going all-out on reactive cards.

I'll also be experimenting a lot with Boros Aggro post rotation I think, so that allows for Frontline Medic in the MD and cards like Pacifism or O-ring in the board.

Before anyone asks ~ with the currently known pool of cards, Boros has more attractive cards to me than Dos Rakis (with the main reason to be black rotating).

Kill everything else around it? Boros Reckoner? I faced down this guy with Dos Rakis and killed everything else on the field.

It's not exactly optimal, but Annihilating Fire will also exile it if it becomes a problem.

Rotation is going to probably kill Boros as most of us know it. It's obviously going to destroy Dos Rakis too.

I see control coming back in a big way, honestly. All control needs is another board wipe at 4 and it's off to the races. I could see one coming in Theros, too. Hell, Day of Judgment and Wrath of God fit Theros' flavor perfectly.

its funny you should say you can see control coming back with board wipes and Boros being dead when Boros has the ability to build a batallion and Boros Charm+Legion's initiative to protect it >___> I mean obviously your deck in particular is losing a shitton of its engines, but the options that Boros has in block isn't lbad at all so far.

You even said Firemane Avenger is a card worth looking at seriously.

As for Gruul, I'm hoping War Chant will be a powerful enough finisher and we'll get another creature to chain Emissary into that is somewhat on the level of Flinthoof Boar (Shortcutter isn't gonna cut it HUEHUEHUEHUE). I can't really see Rubblebelt Raiders being seriously playable in an azorius charm/boardwipe format, but maybe if Hellraiser becomes a primo 3 drop she could (here we go again with Aggro needing synergy in order to be on the same power level as the individual cards are now).

Its a delicate balance.

More than ever, MTG today is "haymaker" magic, where you cannot afford to play cards that are not individually powerful. We're not really playing for incremental advantage anymore ~ Sphinx's Rev's decks just 1-for-1 you until you're out of resources, then resolve Sphinx's Rev and win. Jund is similar ~ they run you out of resources and get ahead on card quality (all the 2-for-1 creatures; better top decks). If you compare midrange decks today, to decks like "GhostDad" you'll see what I mean ~ most of the cards in GhostDad are not really constructed playable, but the amount of small synergies
between them made the deck work. You can't built and play decks like that now ~ aggro decks are so much faster and individual card power is often so much higher that gaining a bunch of incremental advantage means NOTHING if your opponent can just draw two Thragtusks in their first 10 cards etc. Some cards are just that powerful and you need your own power cards to overcome them. Building up a bunch of small advantages isn't very useful if your opponent can just kill you turn 4-5 through resistence.

So, we're entering an age of magic (really in the last 2-3 years) where strictly speaking, card advantage is as unimportant as it ever has been. Players can die with a grip full of cards; or your 1 card can generate overwhelming card advantage ~ we're not talking 2-for-1s any more, we're talking 10-for-1s (extreme case, but I need to illustrate my point). This leads me to another conclusion that I have been coming increasingly aware of ~ 'virtual card advantage' is now more important because getting a [i:
2xfciozu]temporal[/i] advantage is frequently king ~ decks that go "BIG" usually now only need to resolve 1 key card to win, and it doesn't matter how much CA they sacrifice to get there, the big card will win anyway (eg: Elesh Norn, Mythic Conscription, Sphinx's Revelation). Now, it obviously isn't as simple as resolving one of those cards and extending your hand, but the existence of cards like these define the game now. You beat them by designing decks that are mindful of their inevitability.

Returning to my first point, the emphasis is now on playing cards that are individually of high quality (eg: Thragtusk, Obzedat). Any extra synergy is just a bonus. The combination of point 1 and 2 lead naturally to more top deck wars and you want to be drawing cards than give you a chance to win from that position (Reckoner, Hellrider, Thundermaw).

The more you think about this, the more you realize that a card's power lies in a matrix, expressed as power over time. Having minor
synergies on otherwise playable cards in your aggro deck give you a way of maintaining power over time, which in effect generates VCA.

I might try and write up something that more fully delves into these concepts, but suffice it to say, that the lessons of magic past don't really apply to modern magic anymore.
