Not necessarily out, it's just a fairly good indicator, as they tend to have similar fanbases. Both have good characterization, and cerebral humor. It hurts me that it consistently loses to The Big Bang Theory when it's been in the same timeslot. Funny thing is, until I started watching Community, I LOVED The Big Bang Theory...and I still think it's a fantastic show, but I just haven't had a single twinge of desire to watch it rather than re-watch Community. It's ridiculously addictive if you get into it, and I'm really not the type to shill for a TV show.
And yes, it's good that none of us are dead. New rule: Members of FoS are not allowed to die without permission.

Back form San Diego PTQ. 6-2, 18th place out of 164 I believe. Should have been higher, but got paired down round 2 for horrible breakers and punted round 7. Tourney report in the gruul thread.
Congrats kaze and loosing the crazy and being not dead. Also, welcome back dane. I like BBT more then community, but Donald Glover is amazing and the show is fantastic. I need to start watching it again.

You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

Thanks. You guys are making me feel like I was missed. And yeah, BBT is great, but Community just clicks with me more. It just has moments that click with me, like when Malcolm Jamal-Warner makes his first guest appearance...I said to my wife "Hey, this is hilarious...he played Bill Cosby's oldest son on The Cosby Show back in the 80's, and that sweater TOTALLY looks like a Cosby sweater. I wonder if they did that on purpose." Later that same episode, the main character compliments him on his sweater. His response? "Thanks, my dad gave it to me." Bam...right there,Also, welcome back dane. I like BBT more then community, but Donald Glover is amazing and the show is fantastic. I need to start watching it again.
that was a small, but defining moment for me. I LOVE that level of detail and metaness.
Or when they had the episode utilizing the standard sitcom trope of a clip show...but every single clip was new material, instead of from old episodes.
Ken Jeong is amazing too, and I was shocked to find out he's a licensed MD. WTF is up with that? He practiced until he got his big break in The Hangover...

Completely. Those two are a duo that's hard to beat. Alison Brie is pretty easy on the eyes while we're at it.
I was impressed when I found out that Donald Glover used to write for 30 Rock. Once he's done with Community, he's supposed to be getting a pilot for his own thing loosely based on his life.

I guessed that would be the case. But I have enough unwatched stuff anyway, so it still very low on my to-watch listReally? He's hilarious in the show and his character is very different from many of his previous ones.I think I'll skip Community. Chevy Chase is in it, so that's a definite "No!" for me...

I really fucking wish I was at the beach right now. A good number of my friends have beach houses in New Jersey, and I'm back here with 5 pages of shit to do for this term project. One of the few things I hate more than writing a term paper is doing a term "project". Laugh at me for all my "high school problems", but honors classes really do suck. Reading this forum is one of the only things keeping me motivated through this, but then again, its probably also the reason I'm not done yet. Keep it up...in the end, high school problems are unimportant, but the other things you're doing for your future, like honors classes ARE.
Sounds like you're in the home stretch. Just a little more.

writing him that he quit in the middle of filming Season 4, and they had to do some emergency adjustments.
He's actually kinda the anti-Chevy in this show, because he normally plays the smoothest, coolest dude in the room (Fletch, anyone?) and here he's not even up to Clark Griswald levels of smooth, but he sure THINKS he is. (His character does, I mean.)

Look at it this way: you're busting your ass and sacrificing fun time now for a chance to have your fun at a later date when you'll be ahead in life. It sucks now, but it'll be worth it down the road.

Also, freedom, I got the feeling that by "high school problems," you MEANT your honors classes, and it probably seemed like I hadn't read your message when I said that high school problems stop mattering later in life. I just wanted to clear up (though you haven't said there was any misunderstanding...but I overcommunicate. Old habit from my last job.) that I didn't think you'd said that, but I still felt it needed to be said. I've actually had this conversation with two different groups recently...one was in a class at school, where over the last three semesters, I've gotten to know several people rather well (you tend to run into the same people the further you get in a major, especially if it's a small major) and spoke with them about this as well as my wife. It's shocking to look back
at the things that gave us grief in high school, and realize how much nearly all of those things, ASIDE from academics, are non-issues a year, two years, five years, ten years down the road...
So, if any of those are what are eating at you, I'm sure you've heard it from parents already, and who the hell am I to be giving you life advice, since we've never met...but it's all true. High school problems, with few exceptions, are left behind at high school.
I'm just amazed by how dumb you can consistently pretend to be.

Yup, you got it right the second time, Dane. My English, history and chemistry teachers have been stealing my Sundays for months now, and right at the end, when they have to give all the final exams AND decide that, with all the time they've spent giving work, they actually haven't taught you enough of the curriculum so everyone has to work even HARDER, you're so sick of it at the point where it matters most.

Just wait til college, when you actually have hard classes;) On a lighter note, doing honors now gets you scholarships, which saves you shits of money on down the road. Think about the fact that when you're done in high school, you could be paid $20,000 a year just to go to school. And their paying you to get a degree that is only going to do you more good later on down the road. All thanks to honors

Hey freedom, know how you feel right now. Thankfully I got out of high school this last week(Senior this next year). I can summarize the last few weeks in four words: Work, Tests, College Prep... Lame as shit. Thankfully its summer, so I can add another to the list: Weightlifting. Gotta get prepped for the football season next year, it could be a special one! Anyways, while I don't know your exact situation (gradeYup, you got it right the second time, Dane. Ah, I thought I remembered seeing that someone else was about my age in the clan bios thread. I'm finishing up sophomore year now, but I honestly think that next year will be easier just because I'm advanced in my academics and so my teachers this year are the ones that make most people's junior years hard. On the subject of weightlifting, my school's pretty cool in that it offers a course called "weight training", which is just gym class with a few of the more athletic kids on Wednesdays and weightlifting on Thursday/Friday...and it's weighted at an above-standard level in terms of GPA. Thing is, the Ham Challenge (day 16) makes you feel a bit stronger than normal and makes you want to try harder, soHey freedom, know how you feel right now. Approximately 5,000 women, and that is assuming you have high standards (roughly 1/40 women that are in Sacramento). So you'll be done in what, 10 years?Once I finish railing every pretty woman in Sacramento, CA.Ham, when does the book come out?
(for those who don't like math, that's more than a new woman a day for 10 years. He'll have to have frequent orgies to get things done right)

Day 65 and I feel like ripping out someone's still beating heart. On the bright side, I've replaced the toilet and sink in my guest bath (first time plumber), planted a vegetable garden, cleaned out my garage, conquered Mt. Everest, and made a potting table. Well, at least 4 of those things are true. There's no fucking way I could ever get my garage clean.Big props to freedom and Self Medicated who are continuing on the Ham Challenge like BOSSES. It's for real huh?
