I have a wedding to go to on saturday but I think i'll go to the midnight release on friday. I am still not sure between azorius and rakdos. the good player in me says azorius but the midnight version of me says stay simple and turn people sideways. i think b/r has a pretty solid curve too

no, its like the mirroden besieged prerelease kinda. you choose a guild, with a guild pack, but if you can make a different color combo work, then you can.

I'm going Selesnya I think because that land wurm is a freakin beast! and with Populate, it could be huge. The only issue with this choice is that there's no money in it.

I did not go to mirr prerelease. Could you explain guild packs like I'm dumb please. Guild packs seen to me like they can only have two colors but that can't be right.

You get one guildpack (containing only cards of your guild, including your promo prerelease card which you can actually play) and the rest normal packs.

I am planning on trying to get into 3 prereleases. I'd like to give Selesnya, Golgari and Izzet a run, but I may not be able to get into the midnight prerelease out here.

My LGS runs 4 - two on Saturday, two on Sunday, one each day at like 10AM, and one each day at 5:30PM. I'll be hitting both 5:30PM ones, since I work weekends from 8am-12pm.

Selesnya looks nuts, so I will at least be running one of them in GW. If it turns out to be as good as I think it is, I'll just run the other one in Selesnya, but if now, then either Rakdos of Golgari, I haven't decided yet.

I'd hate to play the same guild twice. For sure I want to do both blue guilds, after that the black guilds look good. Screw green/white, I've learned my lesson over the years.

I misread what populate does and am ducking out of GW for either Az or Iz, leaning closer to Az after some practice drafting on the innernettes.

I am a very big fan of the Bloodthirst 3/3 first strike redux guy in Rakdos, but that is the only actual card from the guild I'd be excited to play that isn't a removal spell.

I thought populate was Rhys the Redeemed's second ability tacked onto real cards for marginally small amounts of mana.

Came in 8th/36 people, got shit for prize packs and got shit in my prize packs. Played UW despite choosing WG for my guild because my green was so bad I had to abandon my own guild. Top eighting has never felt so good.

I chose rakdos and opened all 6 rares in my colors. went 3-1 cause of mana screw in round 3 and got 4 packs. cracked them and got shit. good times...

Played golgari and my most impressive card was 3x the scavenge scorpion. All games played out pretty well, but i lost one round to a dude that detained everything every turn. Went 4-1 and came in 5th/36
Also, my guild booster was identical to the one the guy next to me opened.

Went Selesnya (and played GW) in a 145-man tourney. It started at 5:30pm, so we only did 4 rounds. I went 3-1, losing only to mulling to 5 in game 3 of round 1. Oh yeah, and he had Growing Ranks and made 6 2/2 Vigilance dudes and that was just barely enough for him to kill me.

friday midnight pre-release I top-eighted, saturday noon pre-release I top 4'ed (top 4 split). played UW both times. day 1 35 people, day 2 55 people. day 1 my prizes had shit. day 2 my prizes had two shocks (uw, ur), rakdos, niv mizzet, cyclonic rift, foil angel of serenity, abrupt decay and more.

i opened a the golgari promo guy as a regular card,a surpreme verdict, a loleth troll, that shitty black enchant land, the 6/6 for 4 demon and went 2-2 because i suck. my pity pack had pack rat

Got Izzet at mine, ripped a great deck (2x Mercurial Chemister, Chaos Imps, Hypersonic Dragon natch, 2x Stab Wound, 2x Bloodfray Giant) and went 4-0, 8-0. Unleash is very strong, and I had the good fortune of facing a lot of Selesnya which just rolled up against my deck.

Case in point: On two separate occasions, I had an opponent Populate a Grove of the Guardians token. The first time, I proceeded to Stab Wound both of them. The second time, I had already drawn six cards with a Chemister, and killed him with flying dudes first. (Nearly managed to burn the token out in response to him Populating it with Collective Blessing on the board for the blowout, but was one mana short.)

I went 3-1 losing to mana round 2-1; made top 8 and lost 2-1 round 1 to some insane Rakdos draws to some mediocre Azorius draws (triple Crackler, Crackler turn 1 on all 3 games, Hellsteed turn 6 on 2/3 of the games).

Opened Overgrown Tomb, Detention Sphere, Abrupt Decay, that unplayable 5-mana blue enchantment, Deathrite Shaman, and the Mahamotti Sphinx. Opened an Epic Experiment and the uncounterable Day of Judgment in my 2 prize packs for 5th-8th, big whoop.

Detain is a wonderful and balanced mechanic if you enjoy not playing games of Magic.
