Just got back from work. I did pretty darn well today. I sold an expensive Cast-Iron Teapot to a rather peculiar young lady who claimed she could fly. The world is full of interesting people.
Who wants to sell/trade me three Stomping Grounds?

I bought a pack and popped a Legion's Initiative. Is that still worth something? I know it has a decent price tag but would it actually move out of a trade binder?

that was the only blue I saw yeah. No idea whaat the fuck his deck was. My guess is his MB was progenitor mimic+acidic slime horseshit, and I saw the slime which made my entire hand dead. I thought he was playing bant so I held back a single boar from verdict, but I speared him to the face instead because my best outs were to draw another land and spear him again for letahl at that point. Instead I drew two reckoners and went down to zero land. I forced him to play it out, saw the trackers instinct, and realized he was junk fucking rites.
edit: http://z6.invisionfree.com/Scifi_Genre_ ... topic=8929 here's his list. Progernitor mimic and 4 verdicts in the sb...yup. My best bet was definitely to win g1 before hate and then be on the play g3
quick thoughts before I pass out:
my deck worked like I
wanted it too rounds 1-7. Not changing the MB. Didn't see aggro mirrors, btu hey sometimes you DONT see aggro mirrors. I didn't need the pillars MB, going faster with LM definetly won me plenty more games then pillar ever could. Topdecked some emissaries with LM in hand and was good to go.
Also rancor cut was fine, had a game where I had no green vs. Jund. It was a long grindy game, my topdecks were, GCR, Flinthoof, GCR. I played alL FOUR emissaries that game though, first one with a boar (isntead of LM) second with a LM, third one with a rampager, 4th one with another rampager. Boy do I love my ladies
he still had removal for days. Mortars my BTE witH VS (I was pushing it out of Olivia range, then he just traded my boar with olivia when I had no spears anyway! had a second VS for the boar thinking he'd live) putrefy a rampager, something and slip a rampager, etc, bonfire miracles.
The he swings at me with a wolf. For big. I'm down to 7, my bte trades with his wolf. He slips my rampager. I have
5 land and topedck a hellrider. I have hellrider and VS in hand, can't swing for lethal hasty... almost scoop because he had lethal on me if I didnt win.... then looked down and saw a spear (uh why did I almsot scoop? exhaustion, iunno), speared his huntmaster. he topdecks garruk I think. I get my 6 land, play hellrider with VS.
guy was chill as fuck. was laughing it up the whole time, he's still in the top 8 I think so I hope he wins it all. Was makin jokes about the VS flavor text "YOU GOT NO BUSINESS PLAYIN MOUNTAINS SON, DEY MY MOUNTAINS. THEY BEND TO ME" cause I had 5 friggin mountains
ah
well
these arent quick thoughts, gonna stop.
good night
oh wait the quick thoughts I DID have were:
fuck skullcrack. Didn't need it in the MUs I wanted them in (bant auras, though it can win games its not worth the slot), and wished I had loyalists for all the wurms that are going to be popping up and
token decks.

I found this.
I don't particularly understand it, seeing as I haven't seen the show/read the books yet, but I posted it for the sake of those who will.

1 Boros Deck Wins in the Top 8; Patrick Sullivan in the Top 32 as well (both had very similar lists); likely many other Rx decks as well (won't know until they post more lists). Rx Aggro had a 60% win rate over the weekend, which is a big game.

Pro Tour coverage over for the day. Not a bad top 8, thought 9yh-16th is pretty stacked. Rooting for Josh Utter-Layton and Wescoe as they're the only agro players playing in a top 8 of control and Midrange.
Apparently Mono-red was the dredge of the tourney.

Thank you, kindly! Funny you should say that. When I questioned her about it she gave me her best Superman pose. I was tempted to ask for a picture, but I didn't want to do anything that might affect the sale poorly. I don't sell cast-iron often; it's our big ticket item.Congrats all around! Fate for getting top 8, James for his bedroom shenanigans, and Kaze for selling a tea pot.
Hm. Kaze, I wish to congratulate you on more exciting things. Maybe you should have taken pictures of the girl flying?
Also, Dr. Who finale was EPIC.
I hope to see her again, though. Interesting people make work fun.

I really like Sullivan's deck. I wonder if it would be successful in Standard with a few changes.

So, thoughts from Spectrum yesterday.
Overall, the Magic artists are a pretty cool set of guys. I didn't want to burden anyone with signing cards, so I brought a limited selection for them to sign. I got to meet Brom (Desolation Angel, Anarchist), Michael Whelan (Nalathni Dragon), Steve Argyle (Flames of the Firebrand, [card]Markov's Chosen[/card]), Mark Poole (Balance, Incinerate, Simulacrum, Ebon Stronghold), Wayne Reynolds (Dreadbore, Phantasmal Dragon), Donato Giancola (Shivan Dragon), Dan Scott (Solemn Simulacrum, [card]
Gore-house Chainwalker[/card]), and Vincent Proce (Blood Crypt, Rakdos, Lord of Riots). I saw Jon Foster (Dragonskull Summit) but could never catch him to sign anything since he was always running off to something else.
Brom is just a laid back, normal guy who just looks like he's having a fun time with everything. He was willing to chat with everyone who came by. Michael Whelan is one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet. He gave a very engaging and fun talk about his career and his artwork. Steve Argyle was super cool, and his assistant/girlfriend is super hot (she posed for Guul-Draz Vampire). I bought their larger-sized, alternate art print of Liliana of the Veil. Mark Poole seemed fairly distracted by all of the attention. Wayne Reynolds was probably my favorite artist to talk with during the day. He was super happy to chat with everyone who came by. My wife wanted his Fantasy Tavern print, so we got
that. Donato Giancola's artwork is amazing. I wasn't able to talk with him much since he was swarmed by people, but he signed cards gratefully. Dan Scott was a lot of fun to talk with, and so was Vincent Proce.
It was a day full of sensory overload. We could have easily bought much more than we did. We saw Jerry (photodyer) and his son, but we didn't spend much time together other than a few minutes to chat.

Went 3-0 with my modified KDW R1 vs Junk Reanimator R2 vs kids 100 card dimir pile(yeah im a dick but best way to learn is to lose and figure out why) R3 a great mirror matchup with much seat of the pantsness. Game 1 race, game 2 was an uphill battle that I finally had to give up after mortar bolting a maw while at 5 life and a valiant zealot, before falling to top deck zealot joining a cackler to get a bolt in for lethal. Game 3 was equally tense, lots of trading and snagging points at a time till finally its him on 10 and me basically dying to any action plus his two remaining cards. I almost throw the game by forgetting to pair Hellion with SW and being only able to swing for 8 after trying to breathe it and realizing it wasn't paired. Baited breath. No action and fellow embermage extends. Was a great match and was good to see mono red both
being 2-0 in the last round.
I might but up a full report but still winning after getting resto slimed down to one land to top deck a land to bolt for the win was pretty epic.

It helped that he had buys after the first round. Semi-finals, he plays against a boros matchup were he's like a 95% favorite. Finals, he gets paired against the pro tour newb I guess because his opponent played terribly. I'm gonna call it nerves, because you can't actually be BAD and finish in the finals of a pro tour. And he beat Mikuhara in a mirror match.
I did think it was hilarious how confidant he was going into the finals then got promptly 3-0'd.
