Good job on that, Sasky. The RBW color combination is awesome. They're my 3 favorite colors.

Just got a LOTV from a trade. The big question is if I should sell it while it's high, or just keep it as an investment since it sees play in eternal formats.

[deck]Bant Babies[/deck]

I posted this deck a few pages back.

Brought it out for some Wednesday night magic today and beat Bant Flash, Zombies, Bant Flash for 3-0.

While the matchups aren't the most stellar representatives of the meta, the interactions in this deck were just bonkers. So many combat tricks.
Geist is also near immortal in this deck, with selesnya charm protecting him almost perfectly (unless opponent has a 4/4). There were also at least 2 games where I had like 4 elementals on board laughing at the opponent.

I am quite confident that something similar would crop up in the meta - the synergies are just too good. Give it a try!

@Dpaine: Are you a Bostonian? Or just a B's fan? If you're local, what shops do you play at?

Not quite, I live about an hour away from Boston a little north of Worcester.

I play at Phrexian Games, TJ Collectables and I stopped into one shop in Boston, Pandamonium or something like that.
Cool! I grew up in Holliston, which is right next to Milford. I was at TJ Collectibles almost every Friday from '94-'99.

I'm in Malden now, and work in Back Bay. I go to Pandemonium in Cambridge pretty frequently, and a little comic shop in Jamaica Plains (JP Comics). I
also just found another smaller shop in Wakefield - Web Head Comics - that runs FNMs and other events.

For anyone mathmatically minded, I've started a topic in the Games and Theories forum that I think could be useful - assuming we can work out the details.

We can't come up with a determination of who is dumber between Rywad, LBS, SA, Leoninkha or Rival Tuna. As stupidity approaches infinite; they're just isn't the computing power in the world to crunch the numbers...

Smart money on Rywad though.

I just lump them all in the "choad" category. Picking the dumbest is like trying to decide which fat, ugly chick you're gonna end up banging when you're drunk- it doesn't matter which one you pick cuz either way you'll be rolling one in flour and looking for the wet spot.

Sure, but even before now, I have always felt it important to have enough self respect to emphasise quality over quantity. Also I'm quasi in an official relationship, so I'm obligated to take the high ground...

Then again, I think the joke goes 'I've never fucked a 10 but I fucked five 2s in one night and that's got to count for something!'

It looks pretty strong. I'm sure Voice of Resurgence is about to see a lot of play. Could make Pillar of Flame a four-of in a lot of red lists again.

I got a 6, a 5, and a 4 one night.

In my defense, I was drunk enough to think they were a 10 and two 9s, though.

I guess everything's relative.

Except Chlamydia – which one of them gave me.

Chlamydia ain’t relative.

Any opinions on these three Modern decks? My FNM is Modern next week and I hope to participate, but I can't decide what to run. I'm leaning towards the Gruul Zoo deck. I don't know the current local metagame, but I expect tier 1 decks at the top.
Modern Burn
[deck]Land (20)
2 Stomping Ground
4 Blood Crypt
3 Scalding Tarn
2 Verdant Catacombs
1 Arid Mesa
2 Blackcleave Cliffs
6 Mountain

Creatures (14)
4 Goblin Guide
4 Keldon Marauders
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Hellspark Elemental

Spells (26)
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Shard Volley
4 Rift Bolt
4 Bump in the Night
3 Volcanic Fallout
3 Searing Blaze

Sideboard
3 Torpor Orb
4 Smash to Smitereens
4 Rakdos Charm
1 Volcanic Fallout
3 Back to
Nature
[/deck]
Modern Gruul Zoo
[deck]Lands (19)
4 Copperline Gorge
4 Stomping Ground
3 Scalding Tarn
2 Verdant Catacombs
1 Arid Mesa
2 Forest
3 Mountain

Creatures (28)
4 Kird Ape
4 Experiment One
4 Goblin Guide
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Stormblood Berserker
4 Flinthoof Boar
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager

Spells (13)
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rancor
2 Dismember
3 Searing Blaze

Sideboard
4 Volcanic Fallout
1 Dismember
3 Ancient Grudge
3 Back to Nature
4 Vines of Vastwood
[/deck]
Modern Goblin
[deck]Lands (20)
4 Copperline Gorge
4 Stomping Ground
12 Mountain

Creatures (28)
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Goblin Guide
4 Mogg War Marshal
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Goblin Chieftain
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Goblin Wardriver

Spells (12)
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Shared Animosity
2 Dismember
4 Lead the Stampede

Sideboard
4 Volcanic Fallout
1 Dismember
3 Ancient Grudge
n3 Back to Nature
4 Vines of Vastwood
[/deck]
I'm limited to these colors due to available shocks/fetches. Would love to include white in the Burn and the Zoo decks, but it isn't possible atm. The Goblin deck is very much an untested homebrew so I don't know what that's capable of. But it probably isn't expected, so it has a surprise bonus.
I like the Gruul Zoo list the most.

Do you have the mana base for this list I brewed up last night? I have a deck brewing problem, and am now brewing decks in formats I don't even play. Someone halp!

[deck]Creatures (31)
4 Experiment One
4 Kird Ape
4 Goblin Guide
3 Rakdos Cackler
4 Spike Jester
4 Jund Hackblade
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Flinthoof Boar

Spells (12)
4 Mutagenic Growth
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lava Spike

Lands (17)
4 Arid Mesa
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Verdant Catacomb
4 Blood Crypt
4 Stomping Ground

Sideboard (15)
4 Tin Street Hooligan
4 Inquisition of Kozilek
7 Flex slots[/deck]

I
really want to make room for Deathrite Shaman to turn on Jund Hackblade more reliably and provide another green one drop to cast BTE off of. Could also provide some good turn two ramp. Maybe cut one Flinthoof Boar and a Mutagenic Growth for two?

I traded away a playset of Huntmasters for it plus around $15. Liliana here is selling for $50 each so I'm ok with the trade. Huntmaster isn't what you'd call a staple in modern so in this case, Liliana would be easier to sell than Huntmaster when Standard rotates out.

I've never fucked a fat, ugly bitch in my life. I HAVE, however, fucked more than my fair share of "incredibly hot but even more incredibly insane" women to make up for that fact.

I can't help it. I love redheads and I will never stop loving them. It hurts so good. :gonk:

I'm horrible at this, but sometimes if I trade cards I don't care about plus cash for a card or set of cards I do care about, in my head I only paid the cash for it.

But that's sort of the formula. Trade rotating standard cards for eternal staples. Either keep them or trade them for the new standard staples. Rinse and repeat.

Geez, you live even closer to Boston than I did growing up.

I grew up in New Bedford, or more specifically Acushnet, and I can
say this; going into Boston is a fucking hassle. It's so far and such a pain in the ass.
Hahah nice man, I actually did a year at Umass Dartmouth before x-fering outta that prison haa
Burn baby burn!

Cool! I grew up in Holliston, which is right next to Milford. I was at TJ Collectibles almost every Friday from '94-'99.

nI'm in Malden now, and work in Back Bay. I go to Pandemonium in Cambridge pretty frequently, and a little comic shop in Jamaica Plains (JP Comics). I also just found another smaller shop in Wakefield - Web Head Comics - that runs FNMs and other events.
Haha too funny, I grew up in Upton and was at TJ's collectables but for Saturday Casual Magic since I was only 10 or 11 but did do more competitive stuff towards 99''.

That basement Pandemonium has is really nice!!

Do you travel around Mass for tournaments at all?

I'm going to the TCG 1k here at my LGS this weekend.

Next weekend- States at TJ's or maybe New Hampshire ( I graduate college this weekend)

Weekend after - TCG 5k in Worcester at DCU center.
Burn baby burn!

I think I just don't like the word "miser"
The misuse of this word is the reason I hate Mike Flores more than anything else he's said/done.
lol so it WAS you!

I was reading one of his articles the other day and I was like "wow this guy is a cheesehead... now that I think of it isn't there someone in FoS that really hates him too? Now I see why.

also why do I see some modern lists with fetchlands for no discernable reason? I know sometimes its to get land in the yard for lavamancers and shamans.

But the list posted earlier, I can't find it now, but the Jund list had the R/U fetchland... but I couldn't find a single blue cost in the list. Why isn't that just a mountain? O_o the only reason I could think of is there is some popular land destruction spell in modern that it "dodges" because you can make it fetch at instant speed.

Scalding Tarn can fetch any Shockland that's a Mountain.

So, in Jund, that means it's basically a Mountain, a Stomping Grounds, or a Blood Crypt depending on what you need.
