Went 5-3 at WMCQ today, finishing in top 32. A little disappointed - really should have made top 8 if not for some silly play errors.
Played this deck:
[deck]Creatures:32
4 Rakdos Cackler
2 Stonewright
4 Stromkirk Noble
4 Ash Zealot
4 Lightning Mauler
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Pyreheart Wolf
4 Hellrider
2 Thundermaw Hellkite
Spells:6
2 Pillar of Flame
4 Searing Spear
Lands:22
22 Mountain
Sideboard:15
2 Pillar of Flame
2 Mizzium Mortars
3 Skullcrack
3 Volcanic Strength
3 Traitorous Blood
2 Hound of Griselbrand[/deck]
2-1 vs UWR Flash(!)
2-1 vs Gruul Aggro
2-0 vs Jund Aggro
2-1 vs Humanimator
2-1 vs Jund Aggro
1-2 vs Naya Blitz (I got a game loss for arriving late. I was literally right outside the venue chatting with my friends and did not notice round has started)
1-2 vs Esper Control
0-2 vs Naya Midrange
All in all, a pretty good day burning people's faces off.

Windstrider - The assignment was to write an essay on the following topic: What was the Reformation? Who started it and how did it spread? How did it influence the arts?
In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.

It's one of the candidates for replacing Broodbraid Elf, so it definitely see some play, at least in Jund.Is is seeing play in anything in Modern? I'm not very savvy on the non-Standard meta.
Also, poor 2-2 at the FNM. Lost against Junk Reanimator and Esper Control. I've tweaked again the deck, I don't know what to do against that damn Reanimator.
@Zem: Great pics there and great boobs too.
Good sunday everyone and happy birthday pyreheart! Sorry for the absence, but my weekends are getting more and more busy.

While I disagree with her choice of words, I do not necessarily disagree with the sentiment behind those words.Windstrider - The assignment was to write an essay on the following topic: What was the Reformation? Who started it and how did it spread? How did it influence the arts?
Your writing style displays a raw passion that is far too often lacking in most student writing. On that point alone, I would have liked to have read your essay if it were turned in to me. The raw metal of your passion needs to be tempered with an awareness of just how far you can push your audience. Otherwise, your words will fall on deaf ears and minds resistant to understanding.

Azorius and Azorius in both the prerelease I'll join. SImply because in the last 2 months (apart for 2 weeks of Junk Reanimator) I've played Wolf Run Bant and I've fallen in love with that deck.Happy birthday lorddax!
Can't wait for the prerelease next weekend. I'm thinking about playing Simic. Some of those commons look great in a limited environment. Either that or Boros. What is everyone else choosing and why?

Choosing Gruul to stay true to my colors. Its a philosophy thing, and I'll make it more dramatic than it needs to be.
In my opinion: I don't think its right to have the attitude that agonizes for even a second over "which guild is going to be good?" or "which guild will have the best possible pairings that will be good?" "which guild is the strongest?"
You yourself are the strongest. You are choosing the cards, they aren't choosing you. Choose the colors that match up with your heart and that's the best chance you'll have at winning. If you're a red player at heart and you choose Azorius because you think its strong and you think Boros/Orzhov/etc. are great limited, so what? Are you an Azorius player? How the hell can you expect to do well with an Azorius pool when you're a red player?
Obviously I'm speaking from my own inflexibility and inexperience, because I wouldn't know how
to build a competitive Azorius deck if I tried. (I tried drafting it once, and was like... "how the hell does this deck win?" but that was back when I first started again. I understand it a bit more, but its still not my style of playing I'm comfortable with).
I don't apply this to draft though, where in a sense, the cards you open DO choose you and you can't just force things through on principle. You have to be fliexble and read the flow of the draft to be successful.
But for sealed? You're choosing your colors before you see a single pack. You get to BE which guild you want! So be YOUR guild. Represent YOUR colors. Run over those other players who tried to build a deck they thought would be objectively strong and thought waay too long over picking.

Fate, that's pretty much my reasoning as well. I knew was going to choose between Rakdos, Boros or Gruul because those fit me best. When I started looking into the secondary guild options I noticed that I'm not too fond of getting a Simic guild booster (hence not choosing Golgari), but I'd be even more unhappy with an Azorius booster, and Selesnya and Izzet didn't excite me either. So Rakdos it is, that way I can be certain I'm not getting any guild boosters I don't like to use.

If I play, I'm going Azorius because my team told me to. Actually as simple as that. It should work out though because U/W skies is my best limited deck style. Anyways, off to a GPT. Wish me luck guys, especially since I'm playing an outdated version of Junk rites and I'm kind of worried about the mirror. Oh well.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

Had to skip FNM this week so that I could finally sleep a bit after a week of nothing but fucking writing papers for school.
On a brighter note, I passed my driver's license test , my lacrosse team won our game, and I just got off of Duels of the Planeswalkers after 3 hours of 2 headed giant. The amount of shit you can get away with against the nuckleheads on Steam is incredible.
Oh, and happy birthday to Pyreheart, and lorddax.

ve always been a control player, my very first deck was a black/white control. Those are the decks that I always piloted the best. Then I took a huge pause from MtG and started playing again during the Innistrad cycle. I've chosen Red Deck Wins because I wanted to change, and I've really enjoyed it, and joined this clan because before the good players, I've found here good and kind persons. After that, I switched to Wolf Run Bant since it fitted much better my playstyle (infact much of my best positions were obtained with this deck, but not because it's the best, we all know that the current boogeyman is Junk). Even if I've changed deck and switched from aggro to control, I enjoy my stay here because I consider all the members of this clan friends. I'm joining this pre-release just because 3 of my closest friends needed a 4th people for the two headed giant. So, if I have to play, I want the guild I'm currently playing and enjoying the most of all, as you've correctly said.
If anything I've
written is not clear, feel free to ask more explanations.
And happy birthday redthirst, Lords of Riots and chief commander of all the red mages!

How do we know it's redthirst's b-day?
If so, it's time to organize a Birthday blowjob for him. Round up some sorority girls in bikinis! Grab a giant hammock and multiple sponges! Find a deflated hot-air balloon to clean up the mess! Stat! We're also gonna need a few helicopters and some towing cables to lift that giant member up off the ground.

"how the hell does this deck win?" but that was back when I first started again. I understand it a bit more, but its still not my style of playing I'm comfortable with).
I don't apply this to draft though, where in a sense, the cards you open DO choose you and you can't just force things through on principle. You have to be fliexble and read the flow of the draft to be successful.

build a deck they thought would be objectively strong and thought waay too long over picking.

If anything I've written is not clear, feel free to ask more explanations.
