He and this other mod whose name I can't remember basically ruined the Standard forums by themselves. Random infractions for "trolling," or at least that was the guise they used whenever they disagreed with someone. Blatant disregard for the rules, however stupid I (and you guys) might think they are.I didn't know he was ever a mod ~ I have only been on MTGS for 13 months
He just did whatever the fuck he wanted with no consequence. The only difference is, back then MTGS wasn't owned by a corporate overlord, so the fact that he was openly shitting on the community was fine, he didn't even have to try and hide it under some kind of ruse of
"the greater good."

Just practise all those Aussie jingoisms with the most exaggerated Aussie twang you can force yourself to speak. Pick up a 6-pack of VB as well, the Aussies love that shit. This is actually a fine idea. I'll use all of my best Aussie stereotypes and see if I can still seal the deal. I will provide chat logs if successful.
I wanna keep stirring Australia/Australians/zem a little, but I'm worried he'll bitch-slap me if I go over-the-top.

That looks super fun. I like how it has all the critical decisions of an aggro deck, plus you have to consider your land sequencing really carefully.
What's charm do for you, in general? I can see how it's just a strong card and that may warrant its inclusion, but I was wondering why exactly you decided to include it.

The list has serious potential.
I think 4 Flagstones are generally bad in any modern deck.
If you really want to play a full set, you could consider boom//bust? Land D is actually pretty good considering how people can get easily color screwed and also hoses tron.
Have you considered Figure of Destiny?
MD seal of fire to beat eggs?

The deck is mostly a RW burn deck, so primarily, it is 4 damage to the face. However:
- your creatures can get REALLY big in this deck; steppe lynx, plated geopede and zektar can all hit for 5+; so the double strike mode is VERY relevant; zektar has trample, so you can combo off for 14 damage sometimes.
- anti-sweeper mode can be quite important against tron or UWx control.
It does a LOT of work in this deck basically.
The cards I am a little skeptical of are actually Grim Lavamancer, Forked Bolt, Path to Exile and Shard Volley. Why?
- Lavamancer: might be too slow at the moment? Maybe not enough relevant targets? I do think he is awesome however; this deck puts a LOT of cards in the GY, and he is another easy way to answer Deathrite, Bob, Snapcaster etc.
- Forked Bolt: does what Grim Lavamancer does, but is a spell. Probably good enough for those reasons alone I think.
- Path to Exile: I think you want at least 1
maindeck, and some number in the board; the correct number is 1-3 depending on the expected meta I suppose. The thing is, apart from cards like Iona or Wurmcoil Engine, which you should be comfortable randomly losing to game 1, there arent a lot of problem creatures for you that you cannot either just burn (deathrite, bob for example) or just run over with huge landfall guys (finks, tarmo, wall of roots etc) ~ so you don't really NEED the effect as much as a lot of aggro decks otherwise would (imo).
- Shard Volley: with as many land as this deck has, it is basically just lightning bolt 5-6, but maybe you want magma jet?

4 Flagstones are essential in this deck I am afraid. You need them to enable more aggressive lines of play against decks like Tron; but also to let you walk through Tarmo/Resto.The list has serious potential.

Land D in the board is a real option; I have experimented with it in the past and generally been pretty happy with it.
Older versions of this deck that I have run (inc. a GP top 16) featured Figure; I don't think he is that good in the current meta. Goblin Guide is
the worst creature in the deck, but I think Figure is just very slightly too slow - still, it wouldnt take much for me to switch them (Figure is my favourite card). Figure is just a little too slow against Snapcaster decks; where as Guide often still gets in 4 points of damage. Figure is just a little awkward with Abrupt Decay, Lightning Bolt and Path EVERYWHERE. Amazing card still.
For eggs I have been boarding in RIP.

If they're playing a non-interactive deck, you can turn 3 someone about half the time. That's pretty crazy.

I keep hearing grumblings that Selensya will be very good.
There are some limited maestros in the clan though, so I would expect some analysis to be coming shortly

Deck looks pretty stable, you're running 64 cards however.Initial Boros landfall idea:
[deck]
4 Goblin Guide
3 Grim Lavamancer
4 Plated Geopede
4 Steppe Lynx
4 Zektar Shrine Expedition
4 Boros Charm
2 Forked Bolt
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lightning Helix
2 Path to Exile
4 Searing Blaze
2 Shard Volley
4 Arid Mesa
4 Flagstones of Trokair
4 Ghost Quarter
4 Marsh Flats
4 Sacred Foundry
2 Mountain
1 Plains[/deck]
I found Grim Lavamancer to be rather awkward when running Landfall. It is great against Deathrite Shaman/Dark Confidant, although when you have Steepe Lynx/Plated Geopede
out, Grim Lavamancer loses some value if you need to maximize damage to kill someone before you're dead on board. I would take out 2 Forked Bolt to move to the sideboard, and there's two slots left to take out from there.
[card]Boom // Bust[/card] in the sideboard to accompany a couple of Molten Rain?

Oh, hey, question:
The Baseball cards & more shop at my mall sells Magic cards. I saw it was selling the GTC event decks today. The golden thing about it is that the event decks there are still MSRP 24.99 rather than bumped up in accordance to value rares like any LGS would. Should I pick up a Rally and Rout or two?

Not too far from what I wanted to do. I would say 3 Zektars might be good enough to include other spells. I wanted to try Adventuring Gear, but it might just be too slow (does nothing on the turn it comes down most of the time). Maybe we could cut a Searing Blaze as well.Initial Boros landfall idea:

Since we're whoring Modern decks, I'm thinking about rebuilding this deck and would like some help on updating it to beat the midrange meta.

Only if you want to tradeshark it. You don't get but like $9 more than what you paid for, reselling it sealed.Oh, hey, question:

Any opinons on whether Fleeting Distraction is playing?

Target creature gets -1/-0 until EOT. Draw a card.
Not new or anything; just looking for playable cantrips. I guess it can generate a non-zero number of 2-for-1s, which is pretty cute.

I just raised the idea of boom//bust as you have 4 flagstones. Why is everyone so keen on LD anyway?
LD in modern is pretty good for screwing around with people's manabases and manlands though. I'm personally playing 4 GQ and 4 Tec Edge in my hatebears deck. For your deck though? I think less important since you just want to get them dead.
How do you deal with leylines postboard anyway?
It's as playable as inaction injunctionAny opinons on whether Fleeting Distraction is playing?

I guess? I've had bad experiences with such cards, mainly being dead against non-creature decks. It can be pretty funny when someone tries to fight one of your creatures only to kill his own creatures though.

Thanks for the solid feedback. I think being an instant might make fleeting distraction a smidge better; you can EOT it on your own guy to cycle if nothing else. Inaction Injunction would be pretty good if its detain wasn't so awkward.I just raised the idea of boom//bust as you have 4 flagstones. Why is everyone so keen on LD anyway?

I think the LD route is probably viable in a hatebears deck because your games go longer (usually 6-8 turns right?); the RW landfall deck is a 3-4 turn kill deck, so I don't know how significant an advantage the LD gets compared to more aggressive cards. Worth thinking about of course, and yeah, the interaction with Flagstones is very nice (and all the fetches ofc).
