Burn's mainly a meta deck. If a lot of people are running honest decks like Goblins/Merfolk/Maverick/Jund/Affinity/RUx Delver/BUG Aggro, then you tend to do very well. If there are a lot of decks like Dredge/Tendrils combo/Countertop/Counterhelm/Reanimator/Dragon Stompy/Show and Tell, then you tend to be a walking pincushion. I find the 10-12 fetch variants much more stable and less all-in than the fetchless builds. It gives you access to really solid cards like Searing Blaze and Grim Lavamancer, while still allowing you to put pressure on people with Burn Spells.I think you can blame his good luck on that one. Even 2 BTE's is tough. 3 is just gross.I managed to again top 8 on a 3-1 record with jund aggro and then lost in the top 8 to the mirror. I'm not one to blame luck most of the time but g1 I mull to 5. G2 on t2 he drops 3 bte's and a boar. t3 a mangler. t4 Aristocrat. Yeah I can't compete with magical christmas land like that.
Also, I didn't realize you could build legacy burn for so cheap. If you don't play the Lavamancer one (which was apparently still good enough to win an SCG event) the entire deck is around $200 even, and I've already
got most of it.
Does anyone know if burn is any good in legacy right now?
I've kinda dropped Burn in Melbourne, because the meta is quite awkwardly placed for me at the moment. I've been tinkering with RW Burn, while I wait to save up enough for Force of Will and Volcanic Island, so I can run UR
Delver instead. Not losing to N combo decks is quite nice, and I still get to give Lands players the shits with Price of Progress. Card's really unfair against them.
EDIT: I can post both my Mono-Red and my RW Burn lists if people want to know my burn style. My Mono-Red is similar to Patrick Sullivan's list, minus the Flame Rift
Best of luck sir, let me know how you go. If you want to practise, then I should be free all of next week. We'll see later today. I'm entering a (probably small) Legacy tournament in 1.5 hours with a cheap burn deck. Decklist and some thoughts can be found earlier in this thread.
