Okay ordered a playset of Lavinia for $10, maybe I'm dumb but I don't see anyway I lose money on that. That bitch is getting played. Also got Exava for around $12, like one guy said worst case I lose what $5ish bucks? Although I really wouldn't be surprised if it drops at first and then shoots up at rotation.

That sounds like a solid investment.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Council of the Absolute looks oh so lovely in an American Control shell.

I know most of you hate everything control, but, meh. I play everything. And UW looks like it's going to fuck shit up again.

So, I've been off my game for a while, but, a girl sending you a picture of her thong would be classified as flirting, if I'm not mistaken? Yeah. I think it just might be. Maybe ever so subtly.

Why didn't all these women ever show interest in me when I was single? D:

It's a power thing also...we are still at base animals. The female who can lure a male away from his chosen is obviously genetically superior. The difference with women is that it's all about the getting, not the having; if they get you to stray, then the interest is lost (just generalizing here...of course some are sincere and future-minded in their pursuit).

Unless of course you're dealing with a girl who doesn't know your current status...in which you rack it up 100%
to your manly sexual magnetism and can walk around tossing grass in the air and beating your chest intermittently for the rest of the day. :hifive:

Voice debuts at $20, Council at $12...is it just me, or does Master look like some convoluted jank compared to these guild mythics?

Voice is one hellacious bear...not a bad late topdeck. Am I thinking correctly ruleswise that sweeper=no token? Obviously Pillar and Sever get rid of it without triggering either ability.

Except Master does something the others don't: he can win you the game if his ability works. Master can negate all the lifegain from [card]Sphinx's Revelation[/card] and Thragtusk. Even if you can't win the game the turn he's unblocked, he still reduces their life to 1. That's pressure in a way those decks do not like to be pressured.

I just had a thought for a janky
combo: Master of Cruelties + Exquisite Blood. You gain the life that they lose. Janky as all heck, but fun nonetheless.

Assuming no RIP or other ability that would keep Voice from hitting the GY you'd get 1 token per dead Voice with p/t = # of tokens.

So 1 Voice would net you 1 1/1 token post sweeper.

Dan, I think you just found the core definition of "WIN MORE"...talk about adding insult to injury!

You make a point regarding Master; I'm not decrying the card as a build-around and we will damned well try it at FNM. Rather, my point was that Voice and Council are more broadly applicable cards. Take Voice and throw [card]Volcanic Strength[/card:
3v6ah57m] on it in a Naya Aggro deck and I don't really want to be across from it unless I'm playing some sweeper action or Sever. Council actually makes me rofl because it's more about UWx control players screwing each other; from our perspective, it "dies to removal" (<cue rimshot>).

I need to learn to read the whole damn card rather than making mental shortcuts. So the order of events is: Voice dies, which triggers token creation; after this ability resolves, it checks the board state and, seeing 1 creature=itself, becomes a 1/1 token. But because of the rule text for the token, its P/T will
modulate to match the number of creatures that person controls. Correct? Upon revisiting that, it becomes obvious that the card is much scarier in Junk Tokens than in an aggro deck.

Thanks for the head slap, redthirst.

Wait...that was your hand, right? :?

Yeah, I'm not too worried about the new cards, except Lavina :(. The thing that bothers me about them is that they are just so obviously pushed in a PLAY U/W/G PLEASE way.

At the very least, Wizards had some restraint, given their ridiculous boner for Green and White creatures with obnoxious ETB/LTB triggers, and didn't give Voice a LTB make a token effect..

Ya know, at this
point, I'm ok with a little bit of win-more, especially since we've been fighting against a lot of "stabilize more." Ugh, stabilize more sounds awful, but you know what I mean.

Developer's meeting about Thragtusk:
Developer #1: So, here's our new green beast: 5/3, gives you three life when it enters the battlefield.
Lead Developer: Needs more!
Developer #2: Ok, change that to five life.
Lead Developer: Needs more!
Developer #3: Ok, so how about it also gives you a 3/3 token when it dies.
Lead Developer: Needs more!
Developer #4: Alright, we'll change "dies" to "when it leaves the battlefield."
Lead Developer: It's so beautiful.

I'd almost run Master + Blood just to see someone like Tony react when I pulled it off. Even if it only happened once, that would be worth it.

So, looking at the G/W super-bear they just printed, is anyone else just frickn' tired of creatures that provide persistent value when answered? It's an efficient, strong card that is just utter bullshit. Welcome to a card you're going to see everywhere for the next year.

Also @putrefy: I'd like the reprint more IF there where any artifacts that really needed to be answered in standard. As it is, it'll likely be a murder 90% of the time.
Is Kanye West not the most brilliant music producer? Been listening to his music all day.
The guy knows how to make sounds work. His first two albums are marvelous.

In my geeky psychologist circle of friends there's a debate as to whether or not some of the jackass things that he
says (not on albums) are the result of a acquired brain injury (from the car accident described on college dropout) or straight narcissism.

Here's hoping Pillar of Flame or something similar gets reprinted to deal with Voice. And, yes, I am tired of the super-efficient cards even though I want Solemn Simulacrum in M14.

I'm thinking there's going to be some interesting artifacts
coming up with Theros. Otherwise, there's a lot of artifact hate with no artifacts to destroy. The myths do have some powerful equipment: helmets, armor, swords, etc.

If we get a Greek mythology-themed set but no Lightning Bolt reprint, then I'm going to be upset.
