It's too bad we don't have a secret subforum where we can coordinate troll attempts where only we can see so that we don't have to catch on because only one of us is an actual rocket scientist.

Not a question.;)
Are you asking if my experiences with these two users will sway my decision with them?
Exactly ,admins think alike.
Yes. Inevitably I have bias. No matter how hard a person looks at things objectively you will approach things with bias...

I can tell you that we do not all see
eye to eye on a lot of things though. I am more obnoxious and uptight about some things and much more Laissez-faire about others.
Then, our common goal is to overcome biases and be higher then this.

That's where the unbannings come in.

About public appeals: MTG Source has done this before, and if I am not mistaken MTGS in time when Feyd Ruin was tech. Correct me if I am wrong.

About mod appointments, can mod requests be public so the members can express approval or disapproval?

Right now, its not all that transparent with all due respect.

That brings other question to Senori , Cold Monarch, and other staff that are currently working: Would they object to making thier resumes/ applications public without using names , substituted with usernames if they are uncomfortable?

I'm pretty sure I have "overcome" that bias. Were you talking about me?

MTGSource is not one I've ever heard of but I'll take a look. And Feyd is around all the time now so I'll ask him too.

What do you mean "can mod requests be public?"

I guess if they Senori and CM want to
publicize that they can, but what's the goal?

Yeah, I wasn't quite sure where he was going with that one so I didn't jump all over it. But, transparency =/= taint pictures.

Onar - Were you talking about The Source? I went there and didn't see anything about appeals. Is that something you need to be a member to see?

Also, why those two? Why not my application?

I mean future mod choices have to be made public before they become mods so the members can voice for or against.

About Senori and CM and others , members don't know their qualifications ( I am sure they are qualified). From a member viewpoint though , staff is picked by other staff causing a elite. Opening applications give the users a chance to understand why certain members were promoted to staff.

I would love to see yours as well , just be fair.

About bias , I was mentioning others more than you ( Senori, ER, etc)

Public voting is gonna be a no from me. The majority of the users 95%+ don't give two shits about the mods. In cases like this the people that do tend to vote are the ones that disapprove. I know when I worked as a bartender I made decent tips and had a good rapport with my customers - yet, the vast majority of the comments in the box told me to eat a dick. Also, the general public is not privy to the information we are and aren't looking to hire mods for the same reasons. Also, let's say a mod get's 51% "yes" from the people.... if that's how I started my moderating I would quit right then and there. Knowing that people are already against me on day one just sucks and can even shape the way you approach your community. Finally, there are mods who started with something like 130 posts. Nobody had ever heard of them and the polling would not do anything. In the case I am thinking of, he was hired because of
things other than posting and so far has been an excellent guy to work with and does a good job of assessing his subforum.

I don't know how much good open applications would be. Some people apply. Some people are approached. Some people are hired because they are pivotal in their part of the boards and other show moderating behavior without being huge contributors to the content of the sub. If you think that people are hired in just because they are friends with people I don't think that's true, but having public apps won't prove or disprove any of that.

Then, what do they have to hide Gal ? If they do their jobs well , they have no reason to hide their applications.

Now if they have 130 posts , plainly state this , most of the community will understand Example : I am 21 , have few posts, have some
experience but am admin of a site.

Sure its was difficult , but my staff and members trust me , even though I am new and have much to learn.

Now about 51% , if the said individuals want the job and are normal , they will not quit , but try to prove how the members were wrong , by doing their jobs and trying to win the hearts and respect of members.

If they do their jobs well then why do we need to lay them out there for public scrutiny? I guess I just don't understand why you think that posting their personal information is beneficial. I have a blanket policy that anything I say in the Mod Lounge can be reposted publicly, but it's not about hiding something. It's about giving the public the false idea that they run the site. And please don't
take that to mean that we are looking to be dictators, but at the end of the day I can ban you and you cannot ban me. It's just how it works. So instead of asking for pure transparency it seems more fruitful to just have an open dialogue (actually what transparency means) about what's going on, be receptive to criticism, and when people ask questions do your best to answer them.

In the last part... If the individual wants the job and then finds out people don't like them, not everyone will stick around. I wouldn't. Why do something that takes a lot of work, is supposed to be fun, and doesn't pay if it isn't fun? Being hated is not motivating and can be humiliating. Not everyone is a crusader either - "prove them wrong?" No way. I would rather not bother.

See , we have different mentalities, but
this is actually open dialogue.

Bannings have to be justified.

and about staff posting personal details , they can post what they wish , no one will able to check everything.

1) because even though it's pretty easy to find out everything about me from Google (wheeee) I don't like giving it to you on a platter

2) because what good does it do for you to see the BS I said in my
application?

3) because, ultimately, you aren't the ones who hire and fire, and the internal processes of the site are internal for a reason: as far as I'm concerned, it's none of your business.

I personally don't care who Senori is or what his mod application looked like on another website. I also do not want a stool, urine, or blood sample from him. I don't even care that he made a bunch of emoticons.
