I don't believe that was the issue cause I think it was just an excuse to not reveal their source. Every time I applied somewhere, it felt like someone was pulling my chances of getting hired. At a few departments, it was obvious and done in a rude manner. I know it's an underhanded action, because people with serious criminal records and poor college history are getting the job. Oh well, guess the cabal wins this time. Its now the second thing I think about in the morning and weird cause my past job has said nothing for a long time on a rehire. My classes just started and I really enjoy them. It's funny cause students and other staff keep thinking I am a student. My students are shocked when I get up from the student chairs to teach.

Zem was increasingly posturing and being a dick to other "peons" because he needed that kind of validation. He is pretty much right that 99.9% of people live plain mediocre lives and that many want some escapism out of it, and for him it was about being a "pro" at MTG. If I was him, I'd keep this as a hobby, because admittedly the pro circuit is not for him (1; he lacks that "extra" for winning tournaments, and 2; he has to grind an insane number of hours just to be above mediocre).

tl;dr: get a wife, have some kids and validate your life through raising them better than your father did to you.
