I played in a daily but went for a sweet 0-3 drop, losing to Merfolk and then to CoCo Elves. I blame my shit performance on the removal of Volcanic Fallout in favor of Pyroclasm.
In the Merfolk game, I wasn't able to 'clasm against a field of 2/2s because he had an untapped AEther Vial ready to drop a lord. In the CoCo Elves game, the same thing happened when he responded to my 'clasm with a CoCo, dropping a pair of Elvish Archdruids to save the day.
I stayed in the tourney to keep testing, losing round 3 to Affinity because my 'clasm couldn't deal with his man-lands.
On the plus side, I think Burn is dropping off, freeing up the Kor Firewalker spot in favor of something else (thinking Magma Jet).

I have had good results playing Fallout as the red sweeper of choice.
Another creature that you could play to dodge your own sweepers is Plated Geopede (and Steppe Lynx I guess). 5/5 First strike is big enough to tangle with basically all creatures in the format, but even as a 3/3 it's good with burn. I guess landfall guys are better in a deck with more land than 22 though. We just have infinite fetchlands at the moment, I feel like this could be exploited. Geopede seems sweet with Chandra, where you don't mind if you hit a land off the 0 ability.

So drop Char like a bad habit for VFallout?I played in a daily but went for a sweet 0-3 drop, losing to Merfolk and then to CoCo Elves. I blame my shit performance on the removal of Volcanic Fallout in favor of Pyroclasm.

If you're dropping Firewalker, I think I'd like to see Swiftspear back in the mix.

I'm not sure about Char, I still enjoy the 4 damage and it helps close out games.
I'm going to put Swiftspear back in alongside Seeker, and drop KFW or send it to the SB. The 2/2 basic land split can return.

I've given serious thought to playing Molten Rain in Char's place, since Tron seems to be taking off again.
Obviously a terrible idea with PtE maindeck, but that card could be something else instead. I've always liked Dead // Gone as a nice way to bounce blockers or just kill small stuff.

Trying to think about other creatures that fit the curve / are playable... could Kitcher Finks maybe make sense?

With Volcanic Fallout at instant speed, many combat tricks are possible with the Persist trigger on the stack. I played Volcanic Fallout along with Finks in BBBSG for a while when the meta suited it. It was quite good.

Auriok Champion is an old favorite, but it's more of a hoser than an actual win condition. It hates on Twin, Grixis Delver, Affinity, and Burn (to a smaller extent than KFW), but 1/1 beats are really, really lame.

I know When it's good, it's really good, when it's not... well it's not. I played it in tokens and it was able to make the burn match up close to unloseable. Wasn't great anywhere else though.

So I was perusing through some MTGO Modern dailies and stumbled upon a Tribal Zoo deck with Tunnel Ignus in his sideboard. Thoughts on applications vs Amulet Bloom and decks that fetch a lot?
NINJAEDIT: LOL it turns your Ghost Quarters into Lava Spike or Strip Mine! That's sooooo cute.

Just bumping the thread to let Ham know I've been brewing a hilarious brew similar to the deck in the OP except even more obnoxious. It's jank city and right up your alley.

[deck]
Creatures
4 figure of destiny
4 humble defector
4 wall of omens
2 mangara of corondor
4 flickerwisp
3 village bell-ringer
4 restoration angel
3 kiki-jiki, mirror breaker
Spells
4 lightning bolt
4 path to exile
Lands
4 flooded strand
4 windswept heath
4 sacred foundry
4 clifftop retreat
4 ghost quarter
2 plains
2 mountain
Sideboard
3 chained to the rocks
2 wear / tear
1 rending volley
2 phyrexian revoker
2 celestial purge
3 kor firewalker
2 pyroclasm
[/deck]
Notes:
1) Have not been impressed by Figure so far. I've found that I usually want to be using my mana on other things. Should probably be a 2/2 Grim Lavamancer instead, which would allow me to be less reliant on Pyroclasm out of the board.
2) Humble Defector or Mangara + Bell Ringer, Flickerwisp, or Resto Angel is just adorable. Just remember that you can only activate Defector during your turn. Defector may be too cute but I'm just experimenting for now before trying a more aggressive creature.
3) Deck is super weak to Griselshoal. Our only hope is Revoker out of the board. Relic of Progenitus may be a good one to think about out of the board.

Heh, I played a bunch of matches with Humble Defector and liked him a lot. I haven't played any BBBSG lately, but my last testing version looked like this -

Also I agree with you about FoD in BBBSG. I have better things to do with my mana than try to pump him up, but he's a stud in Baby Boros.

I like the Stoke synergy with Bell-ringer and Splicer.
Have you tried Chained to the Rocks? It seems good against Affinity, Grixis, CoCo Elves, and other decks without many ways to deal with it. I've found that my deck desperately wants cheap interaction, but that could be Worth toying with me since I was mana screwed in many of my games.

Damn it, Worth! We're trying to test here!
Stoke is a nice fit because I generally want to play creatures instead of holding up mana for spells, but the lack of red creatures in the early game hurts the ability to Convoke. It's nice to have 4 damage though, especially against Twin.
I did try Chained to the Rocks, but then I played against a bunch of Twin decks all in a row which was brutal. Though, I didn't have Stoke at the time so perhaps that issue isn't as severe.

I will say I'm kind of low on Splicer since Kolaghan's Command is everywhere. I actually think my list wants some number of Finks.

Splicer is an easy swap for Finks if Kolaghan's Command is making them look dumb.

Beat Ad Nasuem, lost to Grixis Delver. Deck is just missing something. Not fast enough to not draw cards, doesn't draw cards in any way except Chandra which is just way too slow.

Beat Goryo's Vengeance. When the deck draws well, it goldfishes quickly. Been getting 1 land hands all night. Perhaps we need 1 more land? Also Boros Reckoner and the sweepers are not impressing me. I wonder if meta is just not suited for it?

The meta is getting more unfriendly as Jund takes back off, but it whoops on Affinity which is everywhere on MTGO.
Reckoner + Fallout was great vs. Delver and CoCo Elves, but the meta may have shifted away. That's the trouble with playing the deck, it's great when the conditions are right.
Funny, I flood out too often on 22 land.

It's a lot like a hate bear deck where you have to pick and choose what you want to beat. Grixis or combo a big deck? Play Thalia, Relic of Progenitus, and Ghost Quarter. People playing midrange? Overload them with value creatures. Aggro a problem? Play ALL THE FINKS AND HELIX!!!

Maybe you're running too many Pyroclasm effects. 6 maindeck seems like a lot.

I think Countryside Crusher could also be interesting with the number of fetches we run.
