Cheon has been streaming it lately. I think he pilots it really well.
He does. I'm going to be checking out his stream archives while also referring to other videos like Gerry Thompson's.

Depending on the type of green, I like heroic strategies. Jeskie works, but bant's also fine.

Esper dragons is also the optimal choice, but you really need a plan for the mirror which is completely unplayable if you're a control newbie.

Ojutai Bant is an OK choice for fighting green if only because it has ojutia and is the best deck against Esper(which you'll have to beat in top 8).
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

The Polish clan of Tarkir, the Jeskie.
They have the ability "Pollack" where every time you cast a non-creature spell, counter it unless you control at least twice as many creatures as the spell's converted mana cost.

Yeah, I will not be well prepared for the mirror.

Heroic definitely seems like a good choice though. I'd have to track down the Dromoka's Commands for Bant. Do you think Jeskai is better thanks to Temur Battle Rage?

Yes.

Also, I'd say it's probably mando that you play monastery mentor somewhere in your list for control as making 1 big guy doesn't work anymore because they have foul-tounge which gets around all your edicts.

Side in Risen Execution for Esper mirror matches
This doesn't address the problem as control mirrors rarely go 3 games and without understanding the matchup, this doesn't get you anywhere. Executioner's also narrow and clunky. If you go the narrow route, PLA is just better for being actually unbeatable once you get to the late game and Mardu strike leader you can pretend like you'll board for other matchups.

I've certainly thought about it, as it's away to get ahead in the damage race, but I don't think it's a reliable plan.

Dragonlord Ojutai has gone up 10tix to 40 on MODO in the past 3 days. Ugh. It's gonna be a 50 dollar mythic in Standard for a bit at this rate.

For MODO? It's pretty much a lock barring a massive correction at the RPTQ's this weekend or some bot dealer undercutting everyone.

I'm not sure what percent of blame I need to put on the secondary market and what percent of blame I need to put on Wizards anymore.

Let's just say I'm rooting for the counterfeiters at this point. Burn it all down and start over imo
The Chinese are deep into counterfeit MODO product.

I think it's more because everyone's hungry for Ojutai as the new Standard tech, and MODO only has 2-3 weeks (do I have that right?) of open product to go off of.

.95 is the usual rate for tickets. IRL there's a lot more product open, but on the flip side CFB can't keep Ojutai's in stock at $30. So that's probably going up at least to $35.

They haven't started doing any of the Standard stuff yet, outside of fetches. It's also v. unlikely they'll start on Standard stuff since it'd mean updating the presses and doing a bunch of waves w/ the new holo sticker. Better margins to stick with older stuff, even with the increased scrutiny.

FWIW, the newest wave is actually difficult to tell if you don't handle tons of cards or have any buyer/grader training. They still fail the light test or a $3 jeweler's loupe. In the next year or two I fully expect Loupes to be used by pretty much every dealer for cards over $10. All the old waves are dogshit and you can tell via touch or just staring at them until your eyes bleed. They are pretty much the same in sleeves though.

It makes it a little more comforting to buy older cards with a bit of wear on them I'm sure. Seems that would be harder to duplicate.

Just got my first Force of Will today and it too was heavily played. You can tell the fake Forces from the real ones fairly easily anyway.

Magic should be a living card game.
Instead of complaining about how things that will never happen won't happen, play Netrunner. It seems to meet most of the criteria you complain about with almost every post.
There's 0 secondary market because buying an expansion gives you all of the cards. The game gets updated pretty regularly. The tournaments are fairly pleasant from my understanding and there's little incentive to gouge everyone. Things that are obviously broken usually get taken care of with errata or new expansions.

If it breaks 40 (on TCG low, you guys understandably have a higher markup than average TCG), I will claw my face off. Geist didn't break that and Geist was basically the creature of Standard.

They are still glossy, less so, but still noticeable on some. Also the fakes quality from set to set vary wildly with some really stupid errors on certain cards, somebody tried to send us a set of noticeably miscut Ulamog and Emrakuls. Which is dumb already considering, 'oh, yeah, maybe someone will wonder how we got a playset of these particular miscuts'.

It's an incredibly deep game. I would play (outside of borrowing friends decks while having board game nights), but I don't have the time or fiscal wiggle room to start with two other games I play now and a trip to Vegas. But many of my table top friends rave about the game endlessly.
