Tom Martell spent an inordinate amount of time following the last Modern PT hunting critics in comment sections of articles discussing Modern and the PT that were from people who expressed that they liked playing modern, responding to them in the negative, and then burying their defense of the format under a mountain of word vomit. He did this for a whole week following the PT.

Tom Martell also spent a non-zero amount of time saying Khaos is a dumb person for asking people to help him pay for his trip to GP Vegas, which was received with some amount of teeth gnashing here.

Many in this thread today have expressed much distaste for Modern and "unsolved" formats today, an argument championed by Martell, who also happens to be reviled here.

By making assertions, because they are supporting a line of thought that runs parallel to Martell about Modern and other unsolved formats, that they also subscribe to his other, less well-received opinions about people and or things, I am taking people's opinions to illogical extremes, which would subvert expectations that a conversation would be had where people would not be compared to negative strawmen of who the aforementioned Tom Martell is. This subversion of expectation through bombastic comparison is where the humor lies in the discussion.

Thank you for your time.

By Smaug I mean his mountain, not him. Or maybe I mean his treasure horde. Or maybe I do mean him.
The Scraltingstone is the heart of said mountain.

Not even once.

I keep Modern talk where it belongs: on a rarely explored thread deep in the heart of DtR.

Had to pop in and say Dos Rakis was the funnest deck I've yet to say(with Boros Burn a close second).

Man, the thread was so booming then too, we would metagame every week. I think I won 65% of all the FNM's we had that season.

I pissed everyone the fuck off since they were running Tier 1 decks and would get smashed by Dos Rakis every week.

I'll never forget you Falkenwrath Aristocrat.

Okay, I'm suddenly free for a PPTQ next week. Comments from the peanut gallery on what to run? My meta is very green. I'm most comfortable (and successful) with Jeskai Tokens, but I'm open to anything Jeskai, Abzan aggro, Abzan control, and Esper control, though my confidence in piloting the latter is not high.

If not for the confidence, I would suggest Esper Dragons to fight a green meta. The deck seems almost tailor made to fight it.

I'm a big fan of abzan midrange, but I'd lean towards esper if you can get some reps in with it.

This is my inclination, and it gives me the sads.

I'm leaning toward Abzan Control and Esper Dragons. I wouldn't be able to get nearly as many reps in as I'd like against different types of decks, which is why I'm a bit intimidated by the prospect of Esper Dragons (especially after seeing Brad Nelson do so badly with the list). But maybe I'll give it a shot.
