If I wasn't a suspended cheater I'd play the fuck out of Shota's deck. The only problem is that it's hard to reveal Dragonlord Silumgar from your lap.

Did they officially suspend you? How long?If I wasn't a suspended cheater I'd play the fuck out of Shota's deck. The only problem is that it's hard to reveal Dragonlord Silumgar from your lap.
In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.

I won't know for another month but I'm taking the position of acting like I'm suspended already. The level 3a and 4s I know think 18-24 months but there might be some leniency for community work and mental health but best to wait and see.

Yeah, thats mostly true. I never really felt like my opponents were better than i was until I lost my win and in, but I've beat that guy before too, just didn't get him that time.I didn't get to play states yesterday but I wish I did. I came in late to check out the field and the top 8 were just full of misplays. Also for the third States event in a row, the winner was someone I've routinely beaten in the past.
States really is just a big silly FNM.

How the fuck do you beat down the Variance Demon without cheating? I have been having so many problems with it in the last few tournaments. It seems like I only see either 1-2 lands or 8-10 and can't draw a 20-outer with three attempts.

Sadly we're playing a card game, so if you can honestly just blame things on variance (i.e.: keeping a playable two-lander, then proceed to draw all your top end without ever seing the third) you just have to hope it doesn't happen again.

T4'd a PPTQ with Abzan Midrange, died to Jeskai Tokens (hint- Jeskai Ascendancy is a fucked up card). Beat GR Dragons, Devo, Mono Red and Mardu. Slapped around Abzan Aggro in between rounds as well. Just jam many Sorrows + Arashin Cleric and it fixes all the bad creature matches in the field. Esper and Jeskai Tokens w/ Ojutai def. the hardest other decks.

A lot of beating variance is playing a lot of Magic (since sometimes you will just do miserably), figuring out when making sequencing errors = 'variance' and picking decks that don't lean you on the heavier side of the curve. Abzan and Mono Red are perfect examples of decks that do a lot to mitigate their variance and rougher draws, meanwhile something like Jeskai and Abzan Aggro exacerbate the issues with their mana / curve considerations in exchange for slightly more raw power.

4th at PPTQ yesterday. Top 4 was me, 2 buddies and we all lost to the guy from China. I was the only guy in top 4 not on abzan agro and I honestly probably win the tourney if I wasn't sleep deprived and making out of character conservative plays.
My matches where like, R1, abzan manifest brew, 2-4 abzan agro(2-1, Game loss in round 4 cause something bizarre happened with my decklists), and beat UB control round 5 before ID'ing. Beat atarka command red in top 8 before falling to the abzan menance.
I don't think abzan agro was the best deck, but all the best players minus myself where playing it.
If there where I PPTQ today, I'd play atarka red because I was teaching some people how to play red decks between rounds(he had the deck and like it) and I was doing ABSURD THINGS. Like swing for lethal with 4 attackers into your 2 blockers with you at 13 life.

You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

Nah lolReally? Seems unprofessional.Happy B-Day, Dan.
In other news, a local radio station saw my GoFundMe and called me a bearded idiot.
You should set up a GoFundMe for a lawyer to sue them.

I've been dicking around with Dragonrage over Atarka's Command just to see if the consistency is there after a testing buddy mentioned it. Trade the skullcrack topside for Stonewrighting everyone after blockers and painfree manabase.
Its been showing better results than I thought as turn 3 or 4 play. Curving in to it is closing out more games due to pushing the extra damage for burn range. Anyone else messing around with this or just something sitting on the fringes?
