I posted this in the Salvation forum talking about Alesha:
There is another aspect to consider for the Alesha story: Alesha presents a character for transgender Magic players to identify with.
When she chooses her war name, she is just 16 years old. She is unsure of her choice, hesitant to make her choice known to the others because she is unsure of their reactions. These are people she has fought with, killed for, and helped triumph. These are her friends and her family, yet she is still somewhat afraid of their reactions to her choice. The nameless khan, however, recognizes the importance of letting the warriors choose their own names, and more importantly, of respecting those names, those identities that the warriors choose. Alesha has earned that right to choose, and that choice will be respected. It's not a show of strength that earns her that choice. It is her willingness to fight for those around her. Alesha is her war name, her identity, and choosing it means that she is no longer unsure of who she is.
How many times have we heard of a transgender or homosexual teen coming out to his or her friends only to be rejected? He or she reveals who they are as a person to those closest to them, those who should support them after having lived with them and raised them. And yet their family and friends turn away. Alesha represents that not every situation is like that. For a young person struggling with choosing to express their identity, that's a positive reassurance.
I very much like how this story is presented. The nameless orc initially doesn't understand the importance of choosing who you are, perhaps thinking that identity is tied into the expectations that surround a person. As an orc, he is supposed to be strong, tough, and bloodthirsty, but that's not who he is, and he's hesitant to express his own identity. Alesha challenges this for him, leading him to realize the importance of choosing his own identity and drawing strength from knowing who he is.

also your analogy falls flat because it's not who you are that determines ... who you are, but the actions you do. the orc doesn't identify as a bloodthirsty murderer, he's just there to help save his friends. but he doesn't have a name.
alesha killed a dragon so she gets a name.
the analogy to trans- people would be once you start acting like a trans- you get to be a trans-, but that's merely conforming to society's standards of what x or y gender acts like and how the "they" expects you to behave as a person who identifies as one versus another thing. which is sort of a crock of bullshit because identity is a personal matter, not a melting pot of expectation and social norms being imposed on the individual.
it's a cool story about how mardu take on their personal identity, but i wouldn't call it a high five for identifying as a different sex from your birthed one. it does give someone for trans people to identify with who is a cool character and whose gender literally shouldn't matter in her being a cool character.

Twin guaranteed for PT FTR finals. Thanks Based Twin.
Some of the main decks seem really weird. The multiple Cryptics and having the potential to get your red sources LD'd out of the game for your combo in the one list seems miserable in an event where Thoughtseize/Inquisition/Liliana is without a doubt going to be the most common matchup you face. Similarly, the lack of Spellskite where Path/Decay/Pulse/Revelry/Bolts/Dismember/Natures Claim are also guaranteed just doesn't seem good. Not that I'm in this final so what do I know, but building for this event where the lay of the land is pretty well established, building in these ways seems suspect.
