Unrelated, I might start spamming decklists since we have a new modern format and standards getting a little shakeup.

As a starter, affinity update:

[deck]4 Vault Skirge
4 Ornithopter
3 Memnite
4 Arcbound Ravager
2 Steel Overseer
4 Signal Pest
4 Cranial Plating
4 Springleaf Drum
1 Thoughtcast
4 Mox Opal
4 Inkmoth Nexus
4 Darksteel Citadel
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
1 Island
2 Master of Etherium
2 Ensoul Artifact
1 Spellskite
4 Glimmervoid
1 Welding Jar
3 Etched Champion

SB:
4 Thoughtseize
1 Spellskite
1 Etched Champion
3 Dismember
1 Stain the Mind
2 Ancient Grudge
1 Grafdigger's Cage
1 Illness in the Ranks
1 Steel Overseer[/deck]

It's unlikely that I make any primers, but for anyone trying to build or tune a deck for the new modern metagame, I'd start with the premise that the 3 best decks are Junk midrange with siege rhino, Twin, and whichever aggressive/goldfish deck comes out on top between affinity, burn and some wild nactl deck. UR delver's still fine and a high tier deck, but it's no longer public enemy number 1. The various big mana decks(scapeshift/tron) are both fine as well, but with pod gone, they lose one of there better matchups. For the affinity enthusiasts, rewind the clock to a year or so ago and you'll find nothing should've really changed. Your win rate is going to be directly correlated with the number of stony silences and shatterstorms people are playing.

And I guess infect goes from marginal to super playable now since I'm guessing there'll be less bolts running around and you shouldn't have to worry about anyone playing melira.

What this doesn't account for is the design space opened up by the void that pod left behind. The most likely scenario is that it just gets filled by jund/junk, but there's a small, but real possibility that a crop of different midrange decks show up. Unfortunately for golgari grave troll, anafenza's around, but there's theoretically a lot of room to maneuver in the format so long as you're deck can disrupt a turn 4 twin goldfish.

This was my meta prediction from the Burn thread:
My prediction for the meta:

I expect Rock decks of all flavors to start producing numbers, namely Junk since Rhino is so fucking powerful. In the wake of that, Tron and Scapeshift will begin to prey on the Rock decks (also, Ugin seems to have enthralled the masses right now). Affinity will be the top dog aggro deck again and, while U/R Delver will still be around, most of the Delver players will hop back over to Twin. Hatebears and Merfolk decks will still show up here and there (especially in light of the last GP performance). And of course, this leaves a small whole for UWR Control to fill.

Also, I'm sure we'll see some goofy graveyard decks now that Cave Troll is unbanned.

I'd like to draw attention to Khaos' excellent slack-jawed baguettes joke from earlier. It was swallowed in James' nihilism and Spam's Gutter overflow.

Seems like a decent trump to siege rhino mirrors between being a CA engine and teaming up with exalt/anafenza to take down opposing rhinos.

You'd rather be 4 color for anafenza and siege rhino. Also, more sb options vs. twin.

Back to standard, I think soulfire grandmaster will have more impact then monastery mentor in jeskai builds. The lifelink on your burn spells is phenomenal and when I was playing with mentor, I found I was having trouble convoking stokes without rabble tokens around.

Yes definitely. It would be nice to play Rhino, Anafenza, and sweet tech like Slaughter Pact. But if others follow suit I'd switch to Blue Moon in a heartbeat.

Just make a new and improved Ajundi deck.
Ajundi always felt like such a meta deck. Rhino does a lot to help(along with proper fetches), but I don't THINK you actually need red anymore. Anger's much less good then it was 6 months ago and while bolt is/was the best card in the format, I expect it to be a lot more hit and miss.

Is it better than Seeker though? I'd imagine you'd want at least 12 burn spells to make Soulfire better.

Agreed on Mentor though. I feel like Rabblemaster is better in most cases, and Brimaz too for that matter.

Merfolks always been a lot better then people gave it credit for. It's not doing absurdly powerful things like the other decks in the format, but it's very smooth, and you get to switch very quickly between disruptive midrange deck and brutal tribal agro.
