Bump I can take or leave. I did miss Rakdos Charm and Hide/Seek when I went from black to blue.

I think rwg is fine, revelry in the side for leylines and affinity. Possible become Immense main, mabey have to test it more.

SB question: Wear//Tear + Smash or Revelry (plus a singleton Stomping Ground in MD)?

Why no Lavamancer during the last couple months?

Treasure Cruise. And also because Forked Bolt was just so much better against the Delver decks.

I agree with keeping Lavaman out until the meta settles. Many people won't adapt all that fast.

Grim was only so-so even pre-Cruise. Swiftspear likely eats that spot unless x/2 Zoo comes back.

Hell, before Khans, I was actually having stellar results with Satyr Firedancer from out of my board. If it stuck against Affinity, Merfolk, Pod, Hatebears, or any other creature-based deck, you just rolled over them.

I dont playonline only paper, planning on going to the scg invitational open in columbus in june. Burn is most likely my deck of choice for it. Already hit 12th at the piq in columbus during scgs open. So figure i would stick with what was working for me.

My prediction for the meta:

I expect Rock decks of all flavors to start producing numbers, namely Junk since Rhino is so fucking powerful. In the wake of that, Tron and Scapeshift will begin to prey on the Rock decks (also, Ugin seems to have enthralled the masses right now). Affinity will be the top dog aggro deck again and, while U/R Delver will still be around, most of the Delver players will hop back over to Twin. Hatebears and Merfolk decks will still show up here and there (especially in light of the last GP performance). And of course, this leaves a small whole for UWR Control to fill.

Also, I'm sure we'll see some goofy graveyard decks now that Cave Troll is unbanned.

Against a lot of these decks, I just don't see Grimmy being that effective. He's great against the little critter decks: Affinity, Bears, and Merfolk. But the others? We'll see.

So many Pod players will be trying to not let their tears fall into their sleeves as they switch over to Junk and double sleeve some Tarmogoyfs.

Well said. If the meta does shape up like that, I think I want to try a Heal-esque RDW with molten rain maindeck.

Alright guys, we had 2 Burn decks make it into PT FRF Top 8:

[deck=Seth Manfield's Burn]
Creature (13)
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Goblin Guide
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
1 Grim Lavamancer

Spells (28)
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Skullcrack
4 Searing Blaze
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Shard Volley
2 Lightning Helix

Land (19)
4 Arid Mesa
4 Wooded Foothills
3 Sacred Foundry
2 Mountain
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Stomping Ground
4 Scalding Tarn

Sideboard (15)
4 Destructive Revelry
1 Lighting Helix
3 Kor Firewalker
3 Molten Rain
2 Deflecting Palm
2 Path to Exile
[/deck]

[deck=Lee Shi Tian's Burn]
Creature (14)
4 Goblin Guide
4 Monastery Swiftspear
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel

Spells (26)
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lava Spike
2 Shard Volley
3 Searing Blaze
2 Skullcrack
3 Lightning Helix
4 Boros Charm

Land (20)
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Bloodstained Mire
4 Wooded Foothills
1 Arid Mesa
3 Sacred Foundry
3 Mountain
1 Stomping Ground

Sideboard (15)
2 Skullcrack
1 Searing Blaze
3 Kor Firewalker
3 Smash to Smithereens
3 Destructive Revelry
3 Molten Rain
[/deck]

I really like Manfield's 60 ( in fact, I'm already playing something very similar), but his sideboard has some crazy choices. Tian's deck looks superb and I can't disagree with a single card.

Thoughts, anyone?

They play Revelry to do damage as well. I am not very high on Lavaman and Shard Volley myself. I am going off Jeskai at this point. I just can't get enough value out of the cards that blue grants and still be a burn deck. I will be going back to Dega. This is where I will start. Sideboard is roughly based on my old list. That is, unless I fall in love with that new Jeskai Pyromancer deck SCG put up yesterday.

Just some random opinions :
- path to exile and deflecting palm are not cards you want in your sideboard, palm is just bad and if you're worried about finks you should play pillar of flame
- i don't like kor firewalker because in order to play him you either take 6 damages from land drops or slow your gameplan a lot that is often not possible : this can be seen in one of lee feature matches (burn mirror, one of the last rounds), where he has a firewalker but he manages to win just because his opponent is incredibly unlucky
- i am not a fan of lightning helix too ; this is just my opinion though. Helix to me is good only against the mirror, against creature decks you just want to have the more searing effects possible. If you're worried for the mirror , play helix, if not , don't play it.
- 3 revelry plus 3 smash seems overkill in lee's sideboard, splashing green i would just go for the full set of revelries.
- i am still playing vexing devil in place of swiftspear, i just see swiftspear too often attacking for 1 and i have someone yet to convince me that the monk is superior with effective arguments. Please someone convince me because i see everyone playing swiftspear and i don't know why

this is my 75 :

[deck]4 Goblin Guide
4 Vexing Devil
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
3 Grim Lavamancer
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Skullcrack
4 Searing Blaze
4 Boros Charm
1 Shard Volley

12 Fetchlands
3 Sacred Foundry
1 Stomping Ground
4 Mountain

Sideboard:
4 Destructive Revelry
3 Molten Rain
3 Searing Blood
3 Combust
2 Flames of the Blood Hand[/deck]

The only particular thing of my list is that i am slightly creature heavier than others.... i considered replacing one lavamancer and one shard volley for 2 helix, but in the end i like lavamancer too much and playing 17 guys makes me able to almost always let one of them live.... and a lavamancer or eidolon on the battlefield for 3-4 turns is devastating. Shard volley as a one of is just more efficient than helix and doesn't hurt at all.

@Aodh - The 2 damage is a pretty big incentive. I've normally flopped back and forth on the 2 choices, but with the meta being shook up, I'd prefer to be as fast as possible.

@Blaklanner - there are so many cards in the whole 75 that just don't deal damage. Do you ever have problems closing out a game? Also, no Skullcrack???

@GoblinWarchief -

VD vs Swiftspear: With Junk being so popular, Vexing Devil is usually not a good choice because of Scavenging Ooze and Tarmogoyf. VD is usually solid within the first turn or two, but after that, it'll never deal damage. Postboard, you're usually not running VD. With Swiftspear, you keep your creature configuration the same and just swap out your weaker burn spells for specialized burn spells (like Molten Rains).

Lightning Helix: You're crazy if you're not running some number in your 75 (if you're going white). It helps recoup the life lost from all the fetching, as well as helping you survive in the mirror. It also is a removal spell for a X/3's, which are seeing more play right now (and also making Searing Blood less useful).

Kor Firewalker- you don't always take 6 damage to play them. Sometimes you don't take any. It's worthwhile to run right now since Burn's popularity is still pretty high. And even if you do take some damage from your lands, you still have Lightning Helix to offset that.

Most of the cards that don't deal damage are in my sideboard. I put them there for the "play this and not lose on the spot" effect that they have. I only tend to change out 3-5 cards for any particular matchup so my threat density is still pretty high.

I use Rain of Gore to handle lifegain. Skullcrack was a hard cut. It may be correct for me to shave on Helixes for them. Ascension also gives me a game plan in longer fights.

Edit: Ari Lax has an article up about Modern Burn today. He was one of the many 6-4 or better players on Burn.

Scepter has been a useful surprise for me. I pull it out the second I think they are going to bring in artifact hate or if they have access to Decay. Dropping a Charm or Helix under there often locks the game down. You may be right about G1 Ascension. I just don't know if I can find room in my sideboard.

Ari Lax had a pretty good deck too:

His article was pretty insightful as well.

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.

If green is for enchantment removal, what unique effect does white offer in the deck? Charm, Helix, and Firewalkers are the only things that stand out, and I'm not sure that any of these alone merits splashing.
