same. LGS had a binder full of them at $1 each. I bought my playset and thought about just buying them out (would probably have been around 30 copies) but didn't pull the trigger. Wish I had - could have gotten all the fetches off that.

Ok people, start churning out red aggro decks. I'm unhappy with all of mine and I need ideas.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

I haven't exactly been following standard. Is there a red spell for under 4 mana that kills pretty much everything in the format, or is tempo red pretty much a lost cause?

Even after much testing LP, big red is soft to courser/nissa decks. not soft, but if they go courser into nissa, its very tough to race.

I am down to help brew a rabble list. I havnt tested enough with titans str variants, but i would like to try to make purphros and hordeling outburst work.

Best mana-base builders would probably be Me, Pedros, and Zem.

@Purp: If you want to play mono-black and still beat rabble red, either board 4 pharika's cure, or play rakdos and board some number of pharika's cure+arc lightning.

Arc lightning is basically the best sideboard card in the set.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

I haven't been too impressed with herald, but the list is very similar to what I have been playing (basically a few tweaks to hooglands list ie: skullhunter over master).

edit: I'd like to add atleast 2 of magma jet.

I have been enjoying this list, granted it's a little more casual.

[deck]Creatures (18)

4 Ornithopter
2 Swiftspear
4 Scuttling Doom Engine
2 Chief Engineer
2 Daring Thief
4 Goblin Rabblemaster
Lands (22)

4 Darksteel Citadel
2 Island
3 Mountain
2 Mana Confluence
1 Radiant Fountain
4 Shivan Reef
2 Swiftwater Cliffs
4 Temple of Epiphany
Spells (20)

2 Ghostfire Blade
2 Springleaf Drum
3 Ensoul Artifact
3 Lightning Strike
4 Shrapnel Blast
4 Stoke the Flames
2 Magma Jet[/deck]

Should probably just cut the doom engine/engineer package for illusory angel, more ensoul artifact and a tighter package.

Engines great, engineer isn't :/

Chief Engineer is def hard to pull off. Doom engine is still good because games tend to go long. Daring Thief imo is the worst card.

edit: I agree in cutting atleast 1 doom enigne though

Not sure if Id play it in a black based list, i thought you were talking about red base. I think you could just cut one of each and put in 2 if you wanted to try it.

You don't need to learn to build a mana base when you can have Microsoft Excel build you the most mathematically accurate mana base available?

No.

It just tells you how many of each colour you need; it doesn't look at the available mana in the format or your mana curve and construct the mana base for you.

Seriously, I'm sure that sometimes you're deliberately dimwitted.

Ok people, start churning out red aggro decks. I'm unhappy with all of mine and I need ideas.
I've been playing around with a token theme, I have two ideas. Probably aren't that amazing but whatever.

[deck]Rw Token Burn[/deck]

Untested but the idea is to go through Courser/Caryatid with Swiftspear + spells. Uses Token Spells +
Rabblemaster to burn at Purphoros. Or just say fuck it and fly over with Stormbreath.

[deck]RW That Solider Deck From the Protour[/deck]

This is adapting the Rw soldier deck from the protour for the new standard. The basic idea is to vomit your hand, play a pump spell and just push through every bit of damage that you can.

Same.

Although, here's what I've learned/confirmed with my 2 afternoons of playtesting:

- Ashcloud Phoenix is the real deal.

- A Flamespeaker bestowed with a Warhound is pretty much GG.

- If you're going to play Swiftie, play Titan's Strength fo sho.

- Arc Lightning destroys the little Black Aggro deck

- Hordeling Outburst is fucking absurd.

- War-Name Ass Pirate is great, but causing sequencing issues with things like Foundry Street Denizen.

Spoken like a true simpleton. If you know how to use Excel it can do some unimaginable things. There have been manabase spreadsheets for a long time that can make corrections for duals, fetches, and curve.

Sometimes I'm sure that you're deliberately a fucking jerkoff without even so much as checking to see if you're wrong. :teach:

I knew most of that, though the hordeling thing is something I was unsure of.

Probably gonna jam war-name into Br agro since that's the best shell with the least bad synergies.

Outburst is very much a build -around card, but it's very synergistic with things like Denizen, Rabblemaster, and Stoke
