Singleton Lavamancer is also fantastic in my build. There's really never a time you don't want to see him (aside from when you need a 4-damage spell instead because you think they'll combo off next turn). There's never trouble finding enough cards to exile, since nothing else competes for graveyard resources.

Firedancer might work against Elves but that is about it. It would be swiftly removed by any other opposing deck before we could get any use out of it. I looked into Swiftspear in Modern and found it lacking since it requires us to cast spells on our own turn to get its damage up to Goblin Guide levels. I believe that assessment holds true here as well.

I would rather play more Searing effects than Firedancer.

I agree. It is a more consistent plan.I would rather play more Searing effects than Firedancer.
The salty response by Ross Merriam after being beaten by a 13 year old kid with Firedancers in the sideboard was priceless though.

I'm not very accustom with legacy, but what decks are Price of Progress and/or Sulfuric Vortex bad against (on M2-M3)?
Its obv. that you don't want Price of Progress vs monocolour decks but do any other legacy deck run enough basic lands to make price a bad keep? Which decks bring in lifegain effect M2-3 which make us want to keep Sulfuric Vortex?
P.S. Learning a format is hard

UW Miracles is the tier one deck that comes to mind when I think of decks that PoP is bad against.
You want Vortex for UW Miracles and UWR Delver. It's also not bad against Sneak and Show since it stops lifegain from Griselbrand and can be put into play with Show and Tell, allowing an easier turn three or four kill.

I also advise Vortex against Deathrite Shaman decks. Using it to stop their lifegain was crucial back when I ran Devils.

Because I'm a budget noob and I don't want to buy Mindbreak Trap I'm going to try and run pacoelflaco's list - I'm not going to make any changes beside swapping Red Elemental Blast for Pyroblast (since I don't own any REB) because I don't understand the format well enough to make any well informed decisions.

A dude at my LGS said he liked Reforge the Soul in burn.
Pros:
Wins the damn game
Cons:
We don't get to 5 mana regularly (although this is exactly what we want to see if we ever do)
We don't play top for easy Miracles.

Currently 3-0 in my first DE attempt, the videos will be terrible though since I shot myself in the foot a fair few times with some HORRIBLE plays.Because I'm a budget noob and I don't want to buy Mindbreak Trap I'm going to try and run pacoelflaco's list - I'm not going to make any changes beside swapping Red Elemental Blast for Pyroblast (since I don't own any REB) because I don't understand the format well enough to make any well informed decisions.

Initial comments:
I don't like Pithing Needles (I'll admit half the problem is because I have no idea what to name - the second and more important half of the reason is that it doesn't deal damage which became a problem during my game against Delver).
I love the 4x Grim and 4x Searing Blaze MD (I havn't faced combo yet which maybe the reason why).
I may just man up and buy Blak's list - Blak's comments in this thread and the MOCS report have been so very helpful (on that note what are you on now Blak).
EDIT2: I 4-0'ed ,
really glad Blak helped me get over my Legacy traumas

I haven't made any changes since the list after the MOCS. Right now I have been focusing on Standard and the RWU Burn in Modern.
[deck]Burn[/deck]
I try to keep my lists up to date in my sig. It isn't always 100% but is usually close.
Don't be afraid to deviate from this list. The recent lists with fetch lands and Searing Blazes is also quite solid.

Disregard combo.
Acquire more Searing Blaze.
Glad you had success in the DE.
I don't like the Needles either. And I'd swap the one Vexing Devil for the 12th Mountain.

In my PoV I believe this is the correct stance because we're most likely going to lose G1 vs Combo anyways.Disregard combo.
Comments on [card]Tormod's Crypt[/card] vs Relic of Progenitus? I'm running Relic right now but I think the Crypt is generally better for the decks we bring in yard hate for (unless I'm missing a MU where this isn't the case??).
P.S. I oddly like the 1x VD, its a decent card for feeding GL and it trades with almost everything - I may trade it in for 1x Fork Bolt or even Sudden Shock (because infect is suddenly all the rage).

It is a matter of personal preference. I prefer Crypt because it costs no mana. Relic cycles and is better in the long term against things like Goyf.

Hmmmm... I would have figured that Crypt would be better in the long term because it isn't difficult to refill the yard. I need to read moreIt is a matter of personal preference. I prefer Crypt because it costs no mana. Relic cycles and is better in the long term against things like Goyf.
Anyhow I'm currently 3-0 in my second DE attempt, I havn't made any changes yet because when I logged on I notice that I was 1 minute away from an event firing anyhow my current hurdle is deck identification - I'm really
having problems sideboarding because I have no idea what I'm playing against, I still manage to get by via guesses based on the few cards I see and frantically searching MTGOGOLDFISH for a decks playing those cards.
If possible could someone type out a guide identifying when Price of Progress is good or not? I find myself dealing 2 damage most of the time with the silly card since everyone just fetch basics even in 3c decks.
EDIT2: Yay another 4-0 - Pithing Needle did nothing but it didn't seem horrible this event - still want to replace it once I find time to collect my thoughts

Crypt is good if you need a one-shot removal. One of its weaknesses is that the yard can be refilled fairly easily. Relic removes a card every turn to slow down DRS and Goyf but can pop the whole thing if really needed.
Deck identification is something that takes time and practice. I think watching events like the SCG Opens (recordings given your time zone) will help you identify the common openings to each deck type faster than randomly playing.
The process to sideboarding out Price is pretty simple. 1) Do you have anything you really want to bring in? 2) Are there cards in your deck that are worse? (Searing vs creatureless is a big one). Blood Moon has been seeing more frequent play and that is driving players to find more basics. Price is at its best against Delver, Jund, 12-Post, Lands, and Esper Stone/Deathblade. It is OK against Elves, most versions of Miracles, Sneak and Show (few lands and a lot of basics,
but other cards are worse), Storm (Same thoughts as Sneak and Show), and Death and Taxes. It is dead against High Tide (not played much online) and other Burn decks. It basically boils down to asking yourself "Will they play 2 or more nonbasic lands this game?" If yes, leave it in. If no, cut them.

Cheers Blak, I dislike SCG videos but I think I might have to watch them
Also damn... I misread Crypt - I thought it worked liked Rest in Peace
I actually made a similar mistake vs Batterskull which costs me because I didn't read the card and completely forgot about the return clause... still 2-1 him in the end but it was nasty.

I am talking the event coverage not the Versus series. Knowing what the cards do will just take practice. I have faith that you will improve.

I moved the Fork Bolt into the MD over Vexing Devil because I wanted more outs vs Aggro.
I Tossed in 2x Pyrostatic Pillar so that I'll have Eidolon of the Great Revel 5 and 6 for the annoying Storm decks.
I also decided to run 3x Smash since I removed 2x Pithing Needles.
EDIT: I fixed the typo: Pillar

I'm currently 3-0 in this DE, I may play against ANT in the finals (for the love of god I hope not).
EDIT: I ended up pairing with the ANT guy he took the split so its another 4-0 (yay I'm on 9 QP).
I've gotten better at identifying decks - though I still use my cheat notes (aka MTGOGOLDFISH) - I can write up a mini-sideboard plan which I'll LOVE for you guys to shred
apart (since some of my choice feel dubious even for me)

One player concedes, then the winner trades the extra packs to the loser. It takes a level of trust to do.

During DE's if your 3-0 on the finals you can offer 3 boosters - thus the winner gets 8 boosters (11-3) + 3 QP and the loser gets 9 Boosters (6+3) + 1 QP.How do you split on MTGO?
In SE if your 2-0 on the finals you offer 1 booster, so you both get 4 boosters each I think its due to my rank and videos most people will split with me but from what I heard this is a rare split.
EDIT: My brag post was discovered by Kait but yeah you can go 4/4 this also works for 2-1 splits in DE's except its def. not worth splinting the DE at this point unless you KNOW you can't win.
Yep the MTGO community is usually good though, beside verbal/written abuse (which I find amusing) I've only been cheated twice - 1) via someone taking my boosters and then proceeded to play me anyways and 2) being timeout via spam trade request on the old client. One player concedes, then the winner trades the extra packs to the loser. It takes a level of trust to do.
