Only drew it once and it did 4 damage at sorcery speed...which is awful, BUT there were multiple times where it was in my deck and if I had drawn it, would have been crushing. Because I am playing a long game vs MBC, I bring it in there since fusing it is very realistic; even if it is "deal you two, I draw two" since all that matters is finding and casting Assemble; the draw also helps fight discard.

They go "tap land, tap land" you go "take seven". Or, "blow up your land, then take seven".

MVP of this deck was the mana base though, was ridiculously OP. Was colour screwed for red 1 game in about ~30, which is fine. The three extra spell lands (1 Mutavault, 1 Temple of Malice, 1 Temple of Silence) put in SO MUCH WORK.

While i'm not playing the same deck (its quite close) I do agree that staff isn't the card which will kill Red, I had it played against me awkwardly late - it which it did next to nothing.

I am going to REALLY miss Young Pyromancer, it is the card who made me who I am today. Never before has someone got so much value from humble 1/1 tokens.

No, but its my own variation, but it draws on some of the ideas from Pu's and Lowry's decks while adding my own experience with YP$. In all its glory:

[deck=Zemanjaski's Boros Burn ("PyroWhite Returns!")]
Creatures
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Young Pyromancer

Enchantments
3 Chained to the Rocks

Instants
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
3 Searing Blood
3 Shock
4 Skullcrack
4 Warleader's Helix

Lands
1 Boros Guildgate
8 Mountain
4 Mutavault
4 Sacred Foundry
1 Temple of Malice
1 Temple of Silence
4 Temple of Triumph

Sideboard
2 Assemble the Legion
1 Chained to the Rocks
1 Chandra, Pyromaster
3 Mizzium Mortars
3 Peak Eruption
1 Spark Trooper
3 Toil // Trouble
1 Wear // tear
[/deck]

Notable features include zem-style mana base and sideboard.

Fine, but it obviously radically changes the deck. I feel that the inherent power of YP$ and the extra spell lands the deck gets as a result (2 extra scrylands, 1 mutavault) are more than adequate compensation.

Cutting AZ made the deck less explosive but more consistent, and it has much more resilience now.

3rd Searing Blood I suppose, they do a lot of the same things and Shock is more flexible.

Well it felt like I was siding out AZ against everything that wasn't Esper, and I sided in YP$ vs. every deck so the switch was natural to me. I won't deny there is likely an amount of playstyle preference and bias involved though.

Loving the look of the new mana base, I'll be trying it out at FNM this week. I realized I was siding in Chandra in 2 situations:

A) When I want to play as the control deck.
B) When I want to draw extra cards.

So... NEARLY every single matchup. If I'm not trying to burn out your creatures and gradually wrest control of the game with Phoenixs/Young Pyromancers, I want to draw extra burn spells. With this revelation, I wanted to fit Chandra into the main (with the bonus of freeing up sideboard space), and, not wanting to increase the curve, I cut the 4th Warleader's Helix for her. I'm going to keep track of how often I see her and wish she was Helix to see if the change is correct but it's good on paper.

Any ideas for the extra sideboard slot?

Doing the same thing also. Like Young Pyro but going to see how he does overall. Playgroup has shifted to combat burn packing azorious charms, last breaths etc. YP$ benefits way more. Going to take some getting use to since I prefer to apply pressure immediately but shouldn't be much of a loss and YP$ opens more avenues of attack.

Looking forward to GP Phoenix this weekend.

Amazing deck to be honest, I also sb mutavault and YP almost every match, while Zealot wasnt good vs a lot of decks (monsters, mono blue, even in mirror you couldnt cast it into seering blood.

While sb is intuitial in this deck, do you sb wear // tear vs mono black for example? Or do you sb out skullcracks vs mirrors (I read that you like toil // trouble in mirrors? so with chandra, toil and peak eruption that is 7 slots so 3 seering bloods (do you keep it vs mirrors?) and 4 skullcracks?)

Don't SB [card]Wear // Tear[/card] vs Bx Devotion . . . I'm actually struggling too understand the fear of Bx Devotion - with the current Zurm list your running 10 "scry" sources, three "draw cards" and two I-Win buttons.

it doesn't matter if they gain 10-15 life, assuming you can deal with Demons - which should be ok since your running 4 chains and the above set-up...

Yes! <3 that MDU guy.

Some data on the deck's after sideboard:
- their deck is 26 land, 8 discard effects, 4 staff and six removal (some players will instead cut creatures for even more removal, but whatever). They have no sources of card advantage and 2-4 scrylands for manipulation.
- burn is 23 land with 10 spell lands and 4 magma jet. Chandra and Assemble the Legion are cards they can't really beat, either because they just can't (Assemble) or if they've already used their answer (Downfall, which is usually the first side out) they just can't find another.

You're actually playing to run them out of resources, not to aggro them from 20 to 0; that plays directly into the strength of their cards; instead of fighting them where they are strongest, select lines that invalidate their strategy. So they're gaining 1 life a turn are they? Make some tokens, get a repitive source of damage and overwhelm them. Save
your lava spikes for value with YP$; use your removal on their creatures; slow the game down to a crawl then you'll have all the time you need to find that Assemble.

Testing an approach list to that above in the DE. -1 Temple of Silence (I didn't had time to bought) and some little changes in sideboard because I'm playing 4 Rakdos Cackler and 1 Blind Obedience (it's to fill all the cards I want to bring of in the mirror, but maybe latter I think better in my sideboard plan for it).

2-0 until now I note that the 2 times I had Boros Guildgate if it was Temple of Silence I will be colour screw for Phoenix but only 2 rounds yet to take more conclusion. I enjoy the deck with Ash, but YP is one of my favourite Magic cards, so I was very pleased playing it again main board :)

When I'm beat down mode against UW control usually my first YP (with few creatures) will be a grizzly bear. They can waste a Last Breath or a Detention Sphere in that, when they will have 4 lands next turn, forget it...

Thanks for the advices.... I play little standard but i happened to build this deck , but I suppose ash zealot is much easier to play than pyromancer so i'll probably need some practice with him.

In testing I had problems against a friend that was running a mono- black aggro list (tormented hero, rakdos cackler, pain seer, mogis marauder, herald of torment, desecration demon) . Are swarm aggro decks a problem in your experience ? And why no one considers running anger of the gods in sideboard (maybe just because you don't expect to face swarm aggro decks in big events) ?

YP makes other aggro decks look silly. Also, don't be afraid to Warleader Helix a creature, it is still a removal spell when you need that.

Went 0-1 drop, 2-0 split, 2-0 split this evening. Making the mtgo millions 1 pack of theros at a time.

B Aggro should be a cake walk, I played against Todd Anderson today running a B Aggro list - he was on play casting his creature being all Todd like, I proceed to cast Searing blood twice... he proceeds to snap concede....

No, but its my own variation, but it draws on some of the ideas from Pu's and Lowry's decks while adding my own experience with YP$. In all its glory:

[deck=Zemanjaski's Boros Burn ("PyroWhite Returns!")]
Creatures
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Young Pyromancer

Enchantments
3 Chained to the Rocks

Instants
4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
3 Searing Blood
3 Shock
4 Skullcrack
4 Warleader's Helix

Lands
1 Boros Guildgate
8 Mountain
4 Mutavault
4 Sacred Foundry
1 Temple
of Malice
1 Temple of Silence
4 Temple of Triumph

Sideboard
2 Assemble the Legion
1 Chained to the Rocks
1 Chandra, Pyromaster
3 Mizzium Mortars
3 Peak Eruption
1 Spark Trooper
3 Toil // Trouble
1 Wear // tear
[/deck]

Notable features include zem-style mana base and sideboard.

I don't bring in Wear // Tear for MBC.

I take out all eight creatures in the mirror, for Peak Eruption, Toil // Trouble, Chandra and Chains.
