Glad I'm not the only one that went BO vs BW.

I think Lazer sends out the clan invites.
I don't particularly enjoy being hit by Obzedat Ghost Council so BO is good vs BW  that said I want my 4th Searing Blood but I can't decided if the 3rd Chains is better or not (meta is too messed up).
I agree. Ain't the meta great? =D

I'm giggling like a schoolgirl at your Z video. That is exactly how I expected his plan to work out.
About to see game 3 to see if you use it against him. Game 2 I know you were hoping to hit searing blood but since he was at...18 at the time, I'm not sure it would have helped at all. Edit: You also skullcrack his helix which means zilch. Not a critique but more a point to why he can worry a lot less about enemy helixes as a whole. He's making his life total irrelevant.

Edit: Nevermind about game 3 =o

My plan with Jace is normally to tick up to ultimate for Helix and other spell. It's usually game winning. I've disagreed with this threads assessment of Jace from the start, and most people in the higher echelon say Jace is a problem for the deck.
Catching up with the thread and kind of in a funk with where the direction of the deck is going and how it is combating the meta shift. I completely agree with Kaits on this one though. Have losts games to U/W doing this. Not matches just games.

After some GP Phoenix testing last night came to this list so far that I will test a few days before a final list for GP Phoenix

[deck]4 Ash Zealot
4 Chandra's Phoenix

2 Chain to the Rocks

4 Boros Charm
4 Lightning Strike
4 Magma Jet
3
Searing Blood
4 Shock
4 Skullcrack
4 Warleader's Helix

9 Mountain
3 Mutavault
4 Sacred Foundry
1 Temple of Malice
2 Temple of Silence
4 Temple of Triumph

Sideboard
2 Blind Obedience
2 Chain to the Rocks
4 Firedrinker Satyr
2 Glare of Heresy
2 Mizzium Mortars
3 Young Pyromancer[/deck]

Still going to test with Ash Zealot again. I did like having 4 YP$ in the main during testing but want to make sure. If not going to move Ash out of the 75 and put YP$ as a 4 of in the main which would open up 3 slots in the SB which would probably go to another mutavault and 2 burning earths or a Mutavault, a Chandra, and Burning Earth. While current versions of the deck are shifting away Searing Blood I find the card is still damn strong and don't want to be dead holding Skullcracks and Boros charms game one against non-control matches. Thoughts on the 75?

@Elricity:

Yeeaaah about that R3 :( you'll find that whenever Z and I face each other (always on G2....) one of us is getting hit by the variance stick, I recall the time I was playing GW (not hexproof) I had 8 sources of life-gain in my deck, I had a wurm in play for a few turns.... I proceed too whiff all my draws until I die (super fun times) and well you guys all saw those horrible RB vs Rw Burn games (unless youtube pulled them down for App. music copyright issues).

That said you can also see Z's plan in action again in that video with Red

@UW:

I missed this argument, are people saying Jace is bad vs Burn or something?

You flying? The drive to Phoenix from SoCal > 4 hours. The drive from Vegas to Phoenix is about 4 hours, and So Cal a bit further (I grew up in Riverside btw).

Edit: I just mapquested it because I was curious, and it does seem like some areas of So Cal would be a 4 hour drive, my bad yo. I stand corrected.

@MDU:
From what I have been reading but could be speaking out of turn is that in general people here view J,AoT as a non-issue because YP$ forces them to +1 and not draw cards. Lost G1 of 3 at a GPT I won against a UW player who did +1 instead of digging for cards and managed to ultimate and get a helix & aetherling. During testing the same thing happened but this time YP$ was forcing the +1 and managed to lose that game to a friend because of ultimate. Games I did beat the UW player at the GPT (games 2 & 3 for the match) was when he was killed before he got started (being faster or hitting curve.) Games I won against UW last night were when I had enough early pressure and put him too far behind.

I live in Imperial County. WAAAAAAAAY farther South compared to Riverside. So close to the border I almost don't consider us So Cal and more so "Mexico Lite."

I did find it funny that the drive to sacramento from LA was longer then the drive to Vegas.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

My group and I would have played in any GP in Cali if it was within distance. No GP in San Diego this year hence heading to GP Phoenix.

ok, second attempt at a 8 man with the latest iteration, second 1st place finish and another cardiac arrest.
This version is giving me a heart attack but it seems to be a winner so far. Last one was Mono R aggro in finals, UW Control and Mono U. All fairly good matchups if I wasnt such a drama queen :hi:

But I cant wait for the meta to shift back into less stressful waters for our little burn gem.

Sacramento sucks imho. I grew up in So Cal, live in Vegas, and went to school in Sacramento. Sacramento is by far the worst place I have ever lived. Some of the surrounding areas are ok I suppose, but I don't miss Sac at all.

Sideboard and options I was considering also minus the Rakdos Cackler. I would use Firedrinker instead. Looks solid and would honestly like to know how it works
for your. I'm in between builds for the GP.

So I notice that not a lot of people are on Satyr Firedancer anymore. Is this a matter of play style? Or is he just not that good?

Looks like the general consensus is the Young Pyromancer plan works well against the majority of the meta, so Satyr Firedancer isn't necessary.

Most aren't playing SFD anymore, but I still do out of my sb. That may be wrong, but I find he is good in a lot of matchups and I like the card.

Card is too varied. Not maindeckable and forces your to move into a direction with the deck. Better to just have cards that are powerful on their own right that pretty much do the same thing.

Huge thing, for me, is that young pyro has two power ~ so when you're ahead, it puts the game away MUCH faster.

here is the list I'm testing and some videos:

Standard Elimination Report (Event 6926390)
BW Control vs (MDU) Blind Zurm (Standard Elimination R1 Event 6926390)
(Zemanjaski) Rw Burn vs (MDU) Blind Zurm (Standard Elimination R2 Event 6926390)
(Red) Rw Burn vs (MDU) Blind Zurm (Standard Elimination R3 Event 6926390)

I didn't notice the clan was on a new SB plan for the burn mirror so I boarded incorrectly (I thought it was just a random Z quirk) thus if this is how things will work I'll put the Mortars and
Chain vs the mirror on the draw and keep it how it is on the play.

Red = Redzone our local clan member which some hows finds times to win PEs
Z = Zemanjaski

EDIT: I should note, all DtR Clan Members won every match outside the Clan on Clan violence.
Oh god the moment I clicked that video I knew that it would remind me of the horrible misplay g1t3. Since I tapped out t2 I f6'd to get through your turn, but had to click it again because it stopped during your turn, then accidentaly skipped through my main phase 1 :DD
I'm delighted that the 2 dmg wouldn't have been game changing though, it was a fun 8 man, gj on taking it.

As mentioned before, Firedancer is quite limited in what matchups it's good against, but the matchups you want it in (Mono U, most aggro decks) it's devastating. It's pretty much a silver bullet against aggro, so if most of your local meta is aggro, I'd side them.

SFD is a meta dependent cards like many have mention before, I'm running him on the side with my variant and I've haven't been THAT disappointed yet.

That said I 3-0'ed again (still running Blind Zurm) beating U Devotion (no white splash), B Aggro (what a shock) and B Devotion, I like how Z version can go all in with the creature plan in the Bx Devotion MU (hopefully people will leave Drown outside the SB for longer so the plan can continue to steal wins) for my version I'm forced into control mode on the draw and creature all in on the play (I don't have the same threat density as the current Z burn
list).

2-2'd FNM losing to RDW and Golgari Monsters. I flooded Game 2 vs RDW after a close Game 1 (I misplayed turn 2 as I played AZ rather than YP). I lost Game 3 vs Golgari Monsters as he resolved a Whip of Erebos and I had no answer to the life gain.
I crushed two white based creature decks 2-0.

Titan's Strength is stunning. No one expects it and it acts like a one Red 3 Damage burn spell, with a bonus scry.
Loved the suggestion and loved playing it. Really good versus both RGx Monsters and GW Hexproof.

I'm glad Titan's Strength works for you too. When I first suggested it, I know some people were against the idea, but all it takes is a leap of faith and some testing. You are correct in saying it's a burn spell. I called it Lightning Bolt with scry. With all of the creatures now in the side and with YP, it is a perfect fit and it makes a token. That extra scry saved my bacon a few times too. I love it! Also, mid to late game due to it's 1 mana cost you get more bang for your buck and can cast more spells.

Regarding the Whip, I had to side in a Wear/Tear myself because it's popular at my store. I actually might have to side in a second, but the board is tighter than a frogs asshole right now.

How do you guys rate [card:bxiaic6m]Blind Obedience[/card:bxiaic6m] in a [card:bxiaic6m]Young Pyromancer[/card:bxiaic6m] and [card:bxiaic6m]Rakdos Cackler[/card:bxiaic6m] world?

I'm still under the impression the card is mandatory 2x if you want any hope in the world in beating [card:bxiaic6m]Whip of Erebos[/card:bxiaic6m] and [card:bxiaic6m]Obzedat Ghost Council[/card:bxiaic6m], I just treat the card as a horrible source of additional damage.

Also how about dancers, I ran 4x in my current version (SB) - but they're kinda lack luster now that Gr Monster has pretty much been replaced by Jund Monsters - outside Esper Humans, GW, Blitz, Bx Aggro and Ux Devotion I can't seem to get any value for them... hang on, ok now that i think about it, its good against Fringe decks but perhaps I'm better of just running Mortars/Fated Conflagration and 1x Chandra for those MUs.

I agree that BO is needed for the BW match up but I'm seeing less of this and more MonoB of late, not sure if that's just luck though ? SFD is great against those lists but I'm seeing hardly any of them; seems to be all Esper, MonoB, Dredge and the Mirror so I'm considering dropping him too.

What's everyone else facing on MTGO?

Man i completely forgot i had a account on here.
Anyways, just a couple of quick questions. How do we side against control and why are we playing YP as a one of in the side if it's so good against everything?
Also, that moment when you're reading the comments and realize you dont't know some of the acronyms.
