I don't usually shuffle my opponent's deck at FNM. I just cut it 2-3 times and give it back. It's not competitive REL. I hate it when my opponent takes it too seriously.I went 3-1 at FNM running Rw burn. I lost to mono black in the first round. I don't mind losing but the guy rubbed me off the wrong way.
I know that it's legal to shuffle your opponent's deck, but the guy would sit there mashing shuffling my deck in the weirdest way for a few minutes after every mulligan/hand. He would split the deck in half, then mash the top 1/4th of one pile into the bottom 1/4th of the bottom pile. Then after that, he would take the top 1/3rd of the deck, grab the next 1/3rd, but the top part down and then put the middle part down. I got the impression he was trying to cut/shuffle me into bad hands (he was successful).
The other matches were good though. Had a stupid hard game 3 against mono-blue devotion. I was able to take it because I
was able to sneak in about 6 or 8 damage with a mutavault.

I shuffle my opponent's decks at FNM. However, it is usually 3-4 careful mashes and a cut. We have too many players at our LGS that, in my opinion, don't shuffle adequately in the presence of their opponent. I do it as a safeguard as we have had a small number of proven cheaters in the past.

I just put the top card on the bottom and call it a day, or if i'm feeling fancy swap the top and the bottom. Shuffling is the deck's owner's prerogative as far as I'm concerned and I take so long shuffling (1 7pile, 2-3 5pile, and 6-7 mash) that I don't want to waste any more time suffling up someone else's deck. This, strangely, pisses people off, they want you to at least put in the token effort of putting roughly the top half of the deck on the bottom.

Used to have one guy at the shop who thought that if you cut your opponent's deck, in retribution it was fair that you took a mulligan down to 6; the idea being I guess that if you were untrusting of your opponent's good will, you were untrustworthy yourself, or something? I'm not sure, I never really understood the logic, but the silver lining was that after everyone figured out he was the kitchen-tabliest of kitchen table scrubs, they usually just didn't cut the deck and won anyway.
Although, speaking from the experience, always either shuffle your opponent's deck or cut it twice in places that aren't the middle, regardless of the EL of the venue; hamfisted attempts to take advantage of lazy cutters (or just practicing their cheating) is a lot more prevalent than you would imagine.

@ Lordax: Good luck man. Never heard of a 1.5 diagnosis... is that a Type 2 that has passed tge point of no return and become a type 1? What kind of medication are you on, and when were you diagnosed?
I found out just before my 18th birthday, so I was a late bloomer. I was overweight as a child, but not obese. I came into my own in my teens and was relatively slim. At the time of my diagnosis I was 160, but with an IV drip to rehydrate me, I gained 20 overnight. I think 180 is where I should be. I've gained steadily over the last ten years and I'm now at about 240. I want to lose about 50 pounds.
Fruit and Veg are horrendously expensive in Japan. Apples go for $5 each. It's much less expensive to eat a shit tonne of rice (which everyone does here, but they get away with it).people here eat huge bowls or rice at every fucking meal. I only do at lunch(because I have to) and it fucks with my blood sugar because it's
just so much starchy carbs.
I love to cook, and worked in kitchens all through highschool and uni, so I'm not worried about that side of things. When I get back to Canada in three weeks, I'll have access to produce and familiar ingredients. i'll also be away from the Japanese convenience stores which are just a little too convienient. Hopefully being back with my family will mean less eating from loneliness / boredom as well.
I have a dietician at the diabetes clinic, but I've never been able to stick to their recommendations. My family isn't willing to eat what I say is good for me lol.
My strategy is basically going to be portion control on starches (potatoes, rice etc) and limit is to 3/4 of a cup at dinner and limiting my meat the the recommended portion, then loading up on vegetables. I'm also going to offer to cook for my family so that I have more control over what we eat, but my step dad is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, so I don't have total freedom. Once I find a job and get
back on my feet in Canada, I'll probably move out and then I can eat whatever the hell I want.
I'll start working out again with my highschool routine:
Monday: 30 min cardio, Arms
Wednesday: 30 minutes cardio, abdomen
Friday: 30 minutes cardio, legs, FNM
Thoughts / advice / feedback appreciated.

@ Khaos: I drank mead last night, made some fucking noise (until I was asked to keep it down) and missed the GPT this morning lol.

So I had more judge calls from the commander players in the back than from the standard event (which technically I don't have to answer, but it was fun). [Card[opalescence[/card] + enchantment creatures is hilarious, if it ever comes up they become creatures (even gods, regardless of devotion) with power and toughness = CMC. God weapons are more obvious, but still interesting (spear of heliod is a 4/4 if you include it's bonus).

I just watched one of the most awesome games of Magic. Dickmann was playing against Blue Moon and needed to draw an Ancient Grudge at 4 life with his opponent having Vedalken Shackles, Spellskite, and an unequipped Batterskull that was blocked by a Thrun with Dickmann having no open mana. Draws Serum Visions for turn. Plays Visions. Draws Ancient Grudge. Scrys Splinter Twin to top. Has Deceiver Exarch in play already. Uses Ancient Grudge to get the Shackles and Spellskite. Opponent upkeeps Vclique sending Dickmann's Batterskull to the bottom drawing Splinter Twin. Then Dickmann draws a Remand for the turn. Yeah...
To put this in context, Dickmann kept a one lander on the draw and missed his land drop until turn four. He was already down a game. He won the third one easily by comboing off after his opponent was far too aggressive with his Bolts.

On the one hand that was a joke. On the second hand, I really do starve myself for few days from time to time - and not because of budget.@ Yarpus: Poverty is not a good diet if you are unable to afford healthy food.
Well, I have to admit that I still suffer consequences of taking so many drugs and painkillers back in the days. I was addicted to ibuprofen-based ones. So, to help my stomach regenerate I give him few days of "rest" (I know it stresses your stomach a lot) - but that seems to help a lot in terms of how I feel.
Maximum days without any actual food: 4 days.
I'm a strong motherfucker.
In terms of poverty, I remember once it was half of month and I've had no sweet pesos. Thankfully my buddy's mom works in Dr. Oetker (company producing puddings, frosties and other half-done products like that) and he gave me a huge pack of food. So, for 2 weeks the only thing I was
eating was fucking pudding and pancakes with sugar. God, it's been three years since that and I still can't force myself to even look at bowl of pudding.
Oh, and I don't eat nearly any vegetables. Because fuck them, meat and drugs for the win.
