Jacob Wilson was the guy playing Melira Pod that made it into the finals, while the Storm player is Chris Fennell that, as the commentators repeated multiple times, started playing Storm 2 days before the event or so.
Thing is that I don't really get if I'm the one not understanding Storm at all (and that's a possibility, mind you) or if Fennell just didn't know what he was doing, that's all.

I didn't get to watch him play it, unfortunately. He probably doesn't know completely how to play it since he picked it up a few days ago. The deck can be complex at times, and, after almost a year after picking the deck up, even I'm still learning some of the subtle interactions and timing.
In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.

But, like I said, I read the coverage of his loss in the Top 8. Sometimes you just lose. When you need to draw some gas to combo out and you draw 3-5 lands in a 16-18 land deck, you don't have a chance. I don't think he could've played it any differently.

pretty sure bolt is a main deck win-con with ascension. Not main. Never main. And I've never seen a version with Thought Scour.wutI'm just happy that Storm made Top 8 at a PT. What's even more exciting about the guy's list was his maindeck Bolts. After the last time I played Storm, I considered doing just that. Yay for U/R Storm!
that deck always plays bolt
the lesser used version plays thought scour
edit: I see that LP made a pretty informative response on this matter
also. Damn my impulsiveness!
Second edit: I see that Kai Budde, Richard Hoaen, and Jon Finkel played Thoughtscours in their lists at the Pro Tour. This is the first time I've seen a Storm deck with Thoughtscour in it. And I can't say that I like it. I prefer Faithless Looting.
do you have any lists?

it's not a reading comp fail. when I played a lot of modern, pyromancer ascension ran maindeck bolt. based on that and that people were saying finkel's list is against the norm, I made a statement that has yet to be refuted. easy enough to prove me wrong, not afraid to eat my words, go ahead and feed them to me.Reading Comp Fail: he specified maindeck bolt which isn't quite mainstream. most every storm deck has a playset in the 75, but FinkelwutI'm just happy that Storm made Top 8 at a PT. for instance, never played bolt main in any of the storm decks he's played in PTs/GPs and he's likely the best storm player in addition to being finkel, so his lists are usually considered the 'go to' templates.
Also, friend of mine finished 71st place which is awesome.
I didn't watch any of the pro tour as I spent my weekends equal parts, wasted, chasing hos, and playing magic, aka channeling khaos.

Its almost always Grapeshot. Some decks may do a 1-of Empty the Warrens. As for lists, I check the MTGO Top 8 Storm lists from time to time, but Finkel's list from some Modern PT way back has pretty much been the standard. The deck usually has 3-6 flex slots. Some people fill it with 1-2 more land and Faithless Looting. Others in the past had that Fork Spell from DKA, Desperate Ravings, and Peer Through Depths. And now, as you observed, some arepretty sure bolt is a main deck win-con with ascension.wutI'm just happy that Storm made Top 8 at a PT. using Thoughtscours to fill that slot, but that's new to me.

I don't see Blue Moon sticking around. Seems more like a PT call. Though people said that about Mono Blue Devotion too (counter-point against myself -- MUD has nearly faded).I've liked Melira for a while, and both TempoTwin with Tarmogoyf and Blue Moon are the sort of deck I can see myself playing.Z, are you starting to like Modern now?

Also, before Seething Song was banned, people were using Epic Experiment to go nuts with. Maybe people played Bolt main before RTR, but that was before my time with the deck. And before the banning of Song.

Out of sheer boredom I just went through every Modern event posted in the WH results section of mitgo, Pyromancer's Storm is not putting up much results. Of the 5 decks, 3 had no maindeck Bolts, 2 had maindeck Bolts. So I will only slightly tip my hat to you. A very minimal canting of the brim.

Yeah, the deck has been falling out of favor more and more. At least from what I observed online. To be honest, I haven't looked at any lists in about a month. Were the Bolt lists newer?
Although, with the recent "success" of Storm at the PT, I think the deck will be more active online.

I believe the podcast is Friday and my articke might be the same day, or not until Monday. All the post PT stuff takes priority over me obviously; not that I'm too fussed about not having my list made public. If I do ok they'll have be back in the podcast and I can do a follow up article which is sweet; I was quite worried that with all the new star players is be understandably pushed aside but so far they've been adamant that there's room in the budget for me; they're even letting me expand into more frequent content.Z, when does the article / podcast come out? GP Melbourne is this weekend, right?

The transformers tshirt is my new pyjama top photo, it's really comfy.
I figured you would like one with the TTM/original cast, glad I was right!
Did you by chance notice the spider shape worked into the back of the sarcasm shirt? If there were such a thing as a secret Dimir brotherhood to which you someone might belong it might have some particular meaning...

All credit to Doc on the team shirt...he did us all proud and it was my pleasure to get it out to you. Tell Pip I think the world of you as well, my friend, and that she's aces in my book for how happy she makes you. And as I mentioned before, if you want to send me her size, I'll make y'all up some matched tie-dye shirts when we get into our temperate months (strider and a bunch of our other friends will be coming over for a dyeing party). That is if you're interested in tie-dye...I know it's not for everyone.I haven't looked at that one properly yet; I think the others just caught my attention more (I'm sure you're not surprised). didn't i tell you guys about my appBtw. anyone heard about home war in Ukraine? Yes, it's even less known and poorer country than Poland. People there are rioting against the government, police killed some people while trying to pacify them.
Just curious if it gets into your medias.

I'll be grinding for MOCS4 with impunity.I'll see you in MOCS4 (Modern)DO IT!So, I've been thinking about getting into mtgo for testing and playing around purposes, but can't really afford to rebuy all my cards and stuff...
What do y'all think?
I'm probably the only serious Modern player here, but I do all of my playing and testing on MTGO. Would be fun to have you in the crew. It's nice not having to keep track of triggers and watching my opponents for cheaty behavior. Plus,
tournaments every few hours.
p.s. don't forget the grinding period starts on Feb 26 - Mar 26 - assuming you play 1 event per day you'll make more then enough to hit finals (if you win).
