Something less. He's a card specifically against Aggro and some midranges. Young Pyromancer is overall much better - but this guy allows you to win the race against Aggro decks.

Because everyone dreams about having him on the field and casting Searing Blood to 3for1 someone.

Interesting, but not ubiquitous like Young Pyromancer because it's dead against creature light decks. He's great against WW or other creature heavy decks that can't get rid of him, the question is how much do you need to shore up those matchups? He'll be fun to play around with in boros burn.

For the "removal light" decks? You need burn for this guy to do anything...

If this card were a 2/1, I think it would be pushed "enough" to be a reasonable contender for constructed play. A 1/1 for 2 doesn't really apply pressure and is depressingly slow against aggro (so now you get to use lightning strike on your opponent too I guess? that's neat but eats up a whole card in your deck to do that), it also doesn't do anything against bigger creatures.

Depending on the number of small creatures, etc, this card seems "fine" to bad, but it does a think that other cards don't and mAYBE THIS NOVEL EXPERIENCE WILL SHOW US HOW POWERFUL THE EFFECT IS!
