@zeman - Pic of Pip is awesome, good sir!

@Doc - Man...awesome work! Now I wish I'd had time to develop a card last week... :frown: But no question, those are outstanding!

@Khaos and WS - Lifted a bit of mead in your honor yesterday in Weston, MO at Pyrtle Winery. Had a very fun date, and we ran onto something at Pyrtle that would set your viking blood afire--hot mulled mead!! I'm not a big mead drinker, but this stuff was AWESOME!!! The mulling spices just made it remarkable, and given that the temp here never got out of the 20's (F) yesterday, it was the perfect drink for the day.

We also hit the storefront for McCormick Distillery, which is the oldest in situ distillery in the US. Awesome samples there as well, including a "hot chocolate" fortified with their 360 Double Chocolate Vodka and Irish Creme.
They called it a "Warm Fuzzy" and that's exactly what it felt like going down. Yum!

BTW WS...we will be serving up some o' that mulled mead at the holiday party, so grab your viking helmet and prepare to pillage!

Photo - I routinely use mulling spices with my mead. Dump the bottle in a pan, on medium heat, drop 2 bags of spices, wait about ten minutes or until it looks like it may boil, remove and pour into a horn or tankard.

So good.

...Also, the cards are awesome! Though, now that I'm looking at it, I think NerdBoyWonder's card is extremely op. As in, you win turn 2....
I don't want to be the Balance Police for these, but I'll make an exception for a turn 2 infinite combo.
Is there a Todd Koson in the clan?
At your service
Holy crap, that worked!?!?

Is there a beautiful, well endowed redhead willing to
trade dirty pics in the clan? Anyone?

@Wraith223- That pic reminds me of a time when I was at a friends house... I think I was about 17 at the time... anyway, the gas company showed up to refill his natural gas tank, and he was in the middle of helping his sister move out of the house, so there was a box truck in the driveway. Rather than get out and ask us to move for him dude drove his tank truck, with a full tank no less, into the yard around the moving van and promptly sank up to his fenders. Then he was pissed at us.

@Windstrider - I don't mind at all. That phoenix pic was weirding me out. I downloaded it from some wallpaper site, and the thumbnail for it is of a totally different pic.

@Photodyer- I'll say this in spite of the
inevitable grief I'll get for it... Your nephew did WAAAAY better than I did with that list. :scared:
Here's the card updates...
Took some liberties with a Redthirst card because he's clearly far too hetero for this.

@Doc: Awesome work! I have been inspired to find my old computer to look for my old designs, trying to remember where I put the damn thing after I moved.

@Raida: The Last Chancers series is pretty good, 13th legion (the first one) is amazing, and the others get progressively worse (the last one is still readable, but stopping after the first one will leave you less disappointed). A basic understanding of WH40K lore helps but isn't needed.

If your minimum deck size is 60 you should not be playing sylvan primordial, but, as doc stated, he's a fine dude in commander. Given his wording I think he was printed for commander.

I think a large chunk of the rares from gtc were printed for formats other than standard, which is why the set doesn't have many money cards in it.

Depends on the format. Standard with devotion to green? maybe-WTF are you thinking.
Commander? Depends on the build with green and generally is awesome in multiplayer games.
Other formats besides sealed/draft; No.

Ok Red Bro's, they (not entirely sure who 'they' actually are TBH) say that the first stage in solving a problem is acknowledging that you have one so I thought I would give that approach a try.

My name is Matt 'Lazer' Lazenby aka LaZerBurn and I am a tilter :flame: This is not only seriously impeding my progress at MTG but rippling across the rest of my life.

I am hereby publicly announcing my intention to both address and resolve this issue.

Lazer - stop giving a fuck, play what you want to play, do what you want to do, embrace the fact that you're an angry fucker, and then try to focus that anger into something productive - like a Kamehameha Wave or a workout routine. Works for me. I also incorporate beer and mead drinking a few times during the week.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah. All of that sounds awesome. Glad you both had a great time. Weston's a neat little place. We gotta find out when their Irish Fest is next. Good food, good booze, and good music all make for an outstanding time. We'll wear kilts and impress the ladies. :unibrow:

Went 7-1 tonight with:

[deck]
Creatures
4 Glint Hawk
4 Kor Skyfisher
2 Sanctum Gargoyle

Artifacts
4 Ichor Wellspring
3 Mycosynth Wellspring
4 Prophetic Prism

Spells
2 Faithless Looting
4 Galvanic Blast
4 Journey to Nowhere
4 Kuldotha Rebirth
4 Lightning Bolt
1 Oblivion Ring

Lands
4 Ancient Den
4 Great Furnace
4 Kabira Crossroads
5 Mountain
3 Plains

Sideboard
2 Celestial Purge
3 Electrickery
2 Gorilla Shaman
2 Kor Sanctifiers
2 Lone Missionary
4 Pyroblast
[/deck]

Its fun and very cheap.

I have a few things more to experiment with, noticably guildgates or bouncelands in the mana base and what the
impact of that may be. Still, pretty sweet so far.
I'll second the "fun" part. It's really a blast to play. However, one problem that I've found with the deck is that, once you've got a bunch of mana, you don't really have much to do with it, which makes Mycosynth Wellspring somewhat unimpressive. This deck can often be very slow, yet the cards that deal damage and win games cost 1 and 2 mana. You'll find yourself bouncing Prism or saccing Ichor Wellspring in hopes of finding a simple galv blast. I just feel like there should be something bigger at the top.

Have you been finding the same issue, though (not much to do with big mana in the late game)? I haven't played too much with the deck, but when I won off of 1 Kuldotha Rebirth and a few bolts/galv blasts with 8+ lands out, I just thought I was lucky that he couldn't do anything to impact the board that couldn't get killed by a bolt.

Razorfield Rhino?

Atog might just be the easiest. It's another sac. outlet as well.

I do find the same thing; after a while you need to hold two land for Faithless Looting. That helps a lot. Maybe we want three of that effect instead? Looting to discard looting is really nice anyway.

Just adding a few equipment to help speed up our clock once we gain the upper hand might also be a good option. Atog also seems nice, since he allows this deck to occasionally be fairly aggressive in the early game.
What cards do you feel might not be necessary in the deck? My vote goes to Sanctum Gargoyle. If we had other artifact creatures, he might be more powerful, but in the deck as it is now he seems somewhat unimpressive. Lowering the Mycosynth Wellspring count by 1-2 seems alright as well, since they're not so useful after you already have 4 or so mana, which makes it your worst bounce/sac target (aside from the artifact lands).

I wouldn't want less than two Mycosynth; they're amazing in your opener, ok not great after. I like them to fuel Looting later though.

Sanctum Gargoyle is nice as Skyfisher 5-6; that is to say it's kinda sucky. I can see replacing him.

Equipment isn't a bad idea. Bonesplitter?

Actually, couplets things just occurred to me:
- worst two cards are Mycosynth no. 3 (often redundant) and Oblivion Ring (overpriced removal).
- Sanctum Gargoyle no. 3 might be ideal as it's another relatively powerful body (for the format) and you greatly increase the chance of Gargoyle >> return Gargoyle, which is the deck's most powerful interaction.
- Atog is nice because I often to draw Kuldotha Rebirth; Atog is similarly aggressive, helps you cantrip, fuels Gargoyle; fights affinity well.
- Lone Missionary in the board should be CoP: Red. You only want those slots for mono red burn, so may as well play a card they can never beat; instead if one they can.

Will test -1 Mycosynth, -1 Oblivion Ring, +2 Atog and +1 Atog, +1 Sanctum Gargoyle.

Atog just randomly kills people in a long enough game, which is nice.

I wish I had a pet Atog.

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.

2 Atog seems perfect actually; though they may fight with Rebirth too much in testing. First Atog is brilliant, second sucks; which is why I liked 1 Atog + 1 Gargoyle (synergy!).

Either seems like a big improvement to the deck.
