Could not stand G Gundam, has such a different tone from mobile suit gundam, the other shows/movies that share a timeline with it (zeta, char's counterattack, stardust memory, ect), and gundam wing. G does little to keep up the franchise's previously extant themes of the horrors and rigors of warfare, and it is significanly softer on moh's scale of sci-fi hardness..

As far as actual good gundam shows/films roughly in order of in universe chronology
mobile suit gundam (the original)
gundam 8th MS team
gundam stardust memory
zeta gundam
char's counterattack

The rest of the main chronology is mediocre to crap, and you can skip it easily.

Outside of gundam, I don't watch a lot of anime, most anime is crap, including most of what I do watch. Soul eater has a crappy story, but the characters are
interesting. DBZ abridged and yugio abridged were decent. Cowboy bebop is amazing. Trigun is pretty good. Outlaw star is fringe watchable.

If being japanese is not a prerequisite may I suggest the 90's x-men? It's on netflix, and even ignoring the nostalgia factor it's still pretty good. Also I recommend watching it in your pajamas with a bowl of cereal, it really completes the immersion.

G Gundam is an acquired taste. I know a few people who refuse to accept its zaniness (And yet they adore TTGL, so eh).

Going western tv series, you really cannot hate Gargoyles (Excluding the non-canon season 3).

Edit: It's rather ironic that most think so high about Gundam's seriousness in war and stuff, when the idea was initially pitched as a light-hearted kid show (The director turned it around when he got the funding).

Not to spoil it, but gundam 0080: war in the pocket is amazing if:

you like soulcrushingly sad endings.
And honestly the lack of zaniness is the exact reason I got into gundam in the first place. It's one of the few anime series where the realities of war are present, and the characters react to it in a manner similar to actual people. If G Gundam were not connected to the gundam franchise I might have liked it, but at least it's not SD gundam. Now I need to dig through some boxes to see if I can find my gundam dvds.

Kaze: Rewatch ALL of the Evangelion movies + show, except #3 (which was a goddamn tragedy).

Katanagatari has the basic premise of:
-bro learns ultimate sword technique of no sword from master
-must go around collecting 12 evil swords to keep them away from bad guys
-there is girl
-the art is very stylistic and I love it
-the story is surprisingly compelling given the above description

Selling this in the morning. I don't really ever play it anymore. It was a gift a few years ago from the ex. Should still fetch at least a grand on the secondary market.

I can get those stuff without going "war is serious". Take this gem of a classic for an example.

Z has an Avy? What is this shit?

Anime...Baka no Test is funny and on Netflix. Samuri X blood and betrayal(or whatever) is fucking amazing. Hellsing was pretty alright.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Oh, there's also Tengenn Gurren Lagan something. It probably has one of the most Red characters ever in form of Kamina, and is probably one of the most hyperbolistic animes in the history. Still, it's not bad.

High School of the Damned, or HOTD.

The anime about huge tits, big guns, and zombies. There is a scene where one character shoots a .50cal around the huge heaving breasts of another to cap a zombie - like over one breast, bounce, under the other, dead zombie.

Sometimes I just need that HOTD inside of me.

Is it good or bad that when I read the corruption report (especially the comments on the most recent one), the music from Gurren Lagann begins playing in my head?

This is one of the very vew animes I have watched and is one of my faves.

All this guitar talk makes me jealous. I'm left-handed, which really hurts my axe selection. I have a Martin D-45, a Fender Am. Std. Strat (brown sunburst) and a Gibson Les Paul (brown sunburst).

[Non-sequitur moment of cuteness]

My son woke up, crawled into my lap, cried when I would not let him view kitty pictures on the iPad, drank some juice, ate a cereal bar, crawled back into bed, and fell asleep.

[end non-sequitur moment of cuteness]

Meanwhile, I'm on my second cup of coffee and trying to remember if I took my anti-depressant this morning. XD

Playing guitar is a lot like Magic. It looks like lots of fun, so you get a guitar, try to play, and suck terribly at it for 6 months. Then, one day, things click and you can play something resembling a song and it's fairly linear after that.

You wouldn't need an anti-depressant if you'd have looked at kitty pictures with your kid.
