Pro Tour Dublin

So the biggest thing to come out of this tournament was all the Devotion. What do you guys think? Is it a flash in the pan to answer the red aggro or is Mono Blue Devotion and friends a real thing going forward?

I saw numerous Mono Blue Devotion decks at States. I honestly believe it's a strong deck and it's here to stay for the time being.

Also, look out for Dega Midrange.

I think it will need to adapt to survive (if it doesn't it'll be like Esper Spirits) but the concept is solid. I really like it.

Worse thing to happen for standard is for the mindless magic minions to see blue devotion vs. blue devotion at a pro tour. We're going to see nothing but 3-mana 5/5 Goddesses for the rest of this Standard season :*(
Unplayables. Mountains don't cast 'em brah.

I'm ok with that, my deck has at least a passable matchup against the mono blue version.

The deck is actually fun to play against. It's also probably a blast to play. I wouldn't mind having this be a thing until the next set comes out.

Won't lie, I'm dying to play against it. And with it.

Played it today, it's surprisingly powerful. I went 3-2 at my games day, missing out on top 8 by one game. Both my losses were to monoblue, one of those people also one the Games Day as well. I'm not to sure weather my lack of success came from no experience against it (not knowing how to prioritize or sideboard well) or it just being a superior deck in general. I was playing devotion red and I got my fanatic for 14 (enough to win the game) cyclonic rifted in response to the trigger. Also, Nightveil spectre needs to be answered, it just walls your phoenix and can take some of your decks red cards and then cast them with frostburn + nykthos. Also, both versions I played had 3x Wall of Frost SB and they are very hard to deal with.

Ham and I watched Wall of Frost be extraordinarily homosexual in a daily the other day. Apparently that is a real card or something? That does not bode well for decks that play Boros Reckoners.

Wall of Frost in the side has become standard for those decks, unfortunately :(

The best I can hope is both.
I was actually running singleton Twisted Image in UR tempo's SB back in the days to deal with the walls I had to deal with. That was an actual response as removal with draw a card strapped onto it felt really fine.

Twisted image was actually just an amazing card. Combat trick that killed wall of omens and birds? While cantriping? Sign me up.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.
