Removing a single 2-power creature from the board vs. aggro is not something you really want to be doing, you've got to do better than that. If that were the case, they could just play Omenspeaker as a "Scry 2, block your dude" roadbump instead. I'd expect decks to adopt Electrickery in the main before Last Breath. (Since most of the relevant creatures only have 1 toughness in the early game.)
What else is control doing on turn 2?
And Omenspeaker is worse because it doesn't block through strikers.
I think UW will have a hard time fitting electrickery in.

 I'd go with Azorius Charm
or Celestial Flare.

He pretty much won our argument so hard that there was nothing else to say.

Either that or he had to leave to go do some super gay shit.

I doubt it will have a hard time playing red. It has the available duals for UWr, and it has a lot to gain from the splash. I know last night on the stream we talked about punishing 3 color decks, but Electrickery is a good enough card right now that you'd have to be braindead not to play it. If aggro has a hard time beating a resolved Supreme Verdict, imagine how much more difficult it is for them to beat Electrickery into a stalled Supreme Verdict?

As for turn 2 plays, Azorius Charm, Renounce the Guilds, Celestial Flare? There's stuff.

Last Breath was actually a relevant card mostly due to Chandra's Phoenix. I like it a lot as SB tech against Aggro, but still, playing it maindeck in deck without good dig/draw for early/mid game results in extending a hand to control players while it's not backbreaking enough to win aggro matchups on it's own.
It's no Timely Reinforcments after all.

Uw dosnt have as many options tbh, esper would rather have doomblades and American would rather be on jet turn 2. Last breath feels kind of
clunky tbh. It will see play, but more then a two of in uw main or 1 of main in esper or uwr I don't see. Obviously they run more after side.

Yes there is, but I still think you're going to be seeing some main in UW lists. Flare doesn't target (can't pick) and you can only play 4 Acharm unfortunately.

More reasons to play red.

U/w will be packing at least 2 if not 3 main deck last breath after the open anyway. As to "making the deck worse against non-red decks" that yarpus commented on, that's just wrong. The aggro decks that showed up at the open were white green or red and they
all have great targets. {All of white basically save reck/voice, ooze, experiment one/and all of red} green is the most iffy matchup for it, but a top decked ooze or voice or experiment is still gravy so the card still has value. And 4 life to them doesn't really matter when you plan on wining w/ Ætherling or Elspeth.
But then you're gonna draw it in UW and UB matchups, and gonna cry really hard.
I remember this shit when Bant was the big boy on the streets. They all started to play really bad cards just to get a bit of leverage during mirrors. I doubt they'd dare to play maindeck card that doesn't interact with Control mirror at all. It's pretty damn suicidal.
Oh shit you're right! I'm going to tell my UB friends to leave all their doom blades at home, cuz mirror! Might as well hack the number of verdicts to 0 as well because all they're hitting is elspeth tokens cuz Ætherling sure isn't getting verdict'd. Might as well cut Azorius Charm too, as all it does
in the mirror is cycle. More main deck divinations are needed!
I think what he is getting at is last breath only hits one deck and is dead vs everything else but doomblade is good vs that deck also vs midrange. Yeah doomblade isn't as good vs control but it has more uses then last breath
Yet, it doesn't. It's only dead in blue mirrors. Looking at the top aggro lists, they all have targets that are 2/x most of them have many many targets. What we saw in the meta was White Weenie/GW aggro/Gruul and Red weenies all of which have a plethora of targets. Sure something like Dega it will be dead and against the mirror, but those are meta-game concessions that a control list will have to take. Even if you think it is "bad" after Worcester showed on screen it being sick over and over, I promise you will still see it main in several lists and knowing it will be there is key to constructing your decks regardless if you think the UW pilot is right or not in
playing it.

Though I don't think last breath has a place in the main, for now I do agree it will probably find itself somewhere in the 75. People are going to have a knee jerk reaction and try to hate out aggro strategies, particularly mono red, it happens consistently. Being that the format is still open I would consider AEtherize over last breath if u/w isn't playing it already. The main problem is that the current red decks are resistant to 1-1 removal.

I think you are over estimating the card a bit. Its really good in some matches and in other its dead. The more you play main deck the more percentage points you shave off certain matchups. I'm not sure that's worth it.

If GW will ever show up, I doubt it's gonna play Voice. Manabase is too shaky. I'd say the most you can expect is Mono Green with Smiter/Advent and SB options.

No chance. I felt I needed something bigger than a D6 in case they played more than one Last Breath.

I'm always prepared.

Are there any other topics you guys would be interested in hearing me blather about? I'm going to do a few recordings to get used to the process, since James and I are gonna have a proper go at this whole podcasting thing.

If there are REALLY good ones you might be able to coerce me into getting them on tape while both of us are on Skype.

Y'all planning on playing and recording some Cockatrice matches by any chance?

I think it'd be cool to see people playtesting decks and be able to watch the same match and get commentary from 2 different perspectives.

We were thinking about tackling a few DE's on MODO with him playing and me commentating in his ear. That wouldn't be for a while though, since we need to get all of the software issues figured out first.

- Something more about UR Control. You really got some people hooked into this thing (well... me for example) and I guess many of us would love to hear about your insights about the deck.
- Kuroda Boros maybe. Not sure if you touched this subject last time, but I believe archetype is still worth being touched. You can improve your game against control with moving Mizzium Mortars to SB and getting some sweet Boros Charms into main.
- Purphoros. Maybe you guys could find an application for this card.
- Sideboarding in new format. At least for RDW.

I can do this one for sure. It was mostly me talking the deck up the other night anyway, James was like "Oh you might be onto something" and I was like "Well yeah I have been wanting this to be a deck since forever."

I really love Grixis and Izzet plays a very similar game to Grixis, so it was a natural leap for me.
