Damn. 7 AM. Sadly, I'll be in the middle of inventory at work.

I'd love to be present for it, Z, but I'll have to watch it when I get home.

I've been toying with PyroRed and just switched to pretty much Z's list and god damn its resilient. It can mull to 5 on the play and still pull it out. I've been experimenting with -2 shock +2 mortars as theres a lot of smiter love in my meta, and the MD boardwipe can be clutch. The ability to also answer an opposing Stormbreath g1 after the windmill is also very hilarious.

Chandra Striking a dragon is equally hilarious.

Is there another big tourney before states or is this weekend's events the best indicator of what we will see on October 12th? Time for us to start test grinding!

Stream is today or tuesday? Figuring out which day to work from home so I can run it on a 47" monitor :P

He's a very active poster unfortunately.

Anyway, join Akex and I on stream tomorrow for our live discussion of mono red theory.

It's at 7am EST; so figure it out for yourselves.

Next video topic, Zemanjaski on Mono Red #2: Mono Red Card Evaluation

- AIR vs Sligh vs RDW vs Kuroda; key differences in strategy and how this affects card evaluation
- some thoughs on 1 drops
- tension in the two drop slot; Ash Zealot vs BTE; YP vs GHC vs FFS and deck building concessions based on these choices
- burn, what's most appropriate for your archetype?
No love for Frostburn or is that more or less going to be covered via discussing the different archetypes?

So THS is legal next Monday on MODO (10/7)?

I intend to stream with my Big Red deck once Theros is legal. All I'll need is Ember Swallower and Hammer of Purphoros.

Re: Red control in Modern.

How about something like this?

[deck]
Creatures (6)
2 Avalanche Riders
4 Ember Swallower

Spells (29)
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Burst Lightning
3 Pyroclasm
4 Mind Stone
4 Molten Rain
4 Stone Rain
3 Chandra, Pyromaster
3 Koth of the Hammer

Lands (25)
4 Encroaching Wastes
21 Mountain
[/deck]

Koth + Ember Swallower = OMG THE SYNERGY. Mind Stone offers Turn 3 Koth, Chandra, Swallower, or Avalanche Riders. Encroaching Wastes over Tectonic Edge since our land destruction package will ensure that our opponent hardly ever has more than four lands. Maindeck Pyroclasm to deal with weenie strategies. I chose it over Anger of the Gods because I needed another two-mana play and we have enough removal to keep Kitchen Finks from going infinite in Pod matches.

James, with regards to AiRakdos mentioned last page, what combination/ratio of Thoughtseize/Duress are you envisioning across the 75?

Silly question. Could someone buy me 2 Chandras on MTGO for 15$? (I mean - buy them at this price, then sell me them in next few days) I'll pay it back this week.
I know, it's dumb... but well, if she'll cost 40$ here goes my dream of ever playing Red.

I also traded a playet of Frontline Medics for a Chandra a month ago. :D

So, all in all, I still spent less than $40 on my set.

I'll extend Ham's opening a bit more (although that sort of thing is usually reserved for Redthirst).

I cracked a Chandra at M14 pre-release and bought the other 3 for $10 each. Playset for $30 doesn't sound half bad.

Ok Ham, one-up time.

I ordered a set of Chandra's Phoenix from SCG and they sent me Chandra, Pyromaster instead.

Then, when I complained they issued me a refund.

Thanks to incredibly awesome Redthirst, I'm the proud owner of 2 Chandras on MODO. This is the best moment ever to run away to Brazil with all the cash stolen...
Seriously 'thirst, you're the best. If I could hug you, I'd agree on anal.
I already do have most of my planned RDW. Now Satyrs, Phoenixes, Lightning Strikes, Magma Jets, maybe Ash Zealots, Hammer of Purphoros and SB stuff. It feels good. And Mutas if I can afford them (that was the plan instead of Chandras, but with them going up in price - I just had to throw all-in to get those redhead bitches).
