I was suppose to go to a win a box tournament tonight, but only 6 people showed up for it so we did a free standard FNM instead so another 2 guys joined since it was free. I went 5-0 for the night.

I'm copying this from the RDW thread. After I went 2-1 in my 4th round against Grixis Control, I offer my hand to my opponent and saying, "Good game."

He refuses and answers, "No. Fuck that. I'm getting sick of this shit." He continues, "I'm sick of all these people playing crappy decks because no one wants to spend any money."

He rants on a little further. I forgot how it got to this point, but we had this exchange.

"I play douchey decks."
"So do I."
"No, you don't."
"You play decks that stop people from playing cards. I play decks that stop people from playing the game."

He leaves after that.

The guy is known for being an ass. It's
even his nickname.

I went 3-2 during FNM. I had mana issues with both games I lost, but overall I think the deck I brewed needs some tweaks. Desecration Demon decks were everywhere and so was a lot of poorly built aggro decks.

The highlight of the night was obtaining a foil Stormbreath Dragon. :D

MVPs of the night for me was Satyr, Act of Treason, Flames of the Firebrand, Ash Zealot, Chandra, and Stormbreath Dragon.

The Hammer was a wasted drop in some games, but to be fair, I never encountered a board state where it would've been amazing. I still believe in the power level of the card, but I think I'll be sticking to a single copy.

I guess the hammer will only start to be relevant when decks start packing on two sweepers (Anger of the Gods and Supreme Verdict. Especially when they start packing on their own Mutavault to counter yours.

I gotta disagree. The hammer is a boss. It'll let you fight through mana floods and give you that extra push when you need to close out a game. It's pretty easy to get an additional 6 power on the field from 4 lands (sac a land on their turn, sac a land on your turn). Sure, you're burning down your resources, but it's worth it if you can close out the game.

It also turns Emily and friends into must answer threats for an amazing 2 mana. Earlier today I had:

Turn 3 Me: Cackler, Emily, Firefist to swing 6, play Hammer
Turn 3 Him: Anger of the Gods
Turn 4 Me: Emily, Chainwalker to swing 5

The sigpic you had up was a slice from Meignaud's Zendikar mountain was it not?
Correct! Zendikar Mountain #244
Those are my favorites from that series. I bought 24 of them at the Dragon's Maze prerelease. They're so pretty.
I like Dominique Meignaud's and John Avon's versions of the Zen lands best, so I sniped various eBay auctions until I had about 20 of each version. Swag!

I think an extra hammer in the board might work Khaos. I just know Rock is gonna abrupt decay it and UW will d-sphere it, so you definitely want to see it more often in certain MUs.

Its pretty good against thought seize/desecration lists because they don't really have any 2-1s atm to catch back up against the golem wave

I was playing 2 but I'm pretty comfortable with 1 main. An extra copy in the board seems fair.

I won my FNM too... good job everyone else!

I played Zem's All-in-Boros deck and it went pretty well. Flooded insane for a 20 land deck but thats just variance.

Boros Charm and Chained to the Rocks is legit!

Ugh this is such a bitch deciding on a deck for SCG Worc....tested so many decks from All-in-Boros to R/B Midrange.

Won FNM With Boros all in but Big Boros looks reallly good as nearly everyone was playing creature based decks. But then of course Sligh should be good against aggro and mid.

Decisons, decisions....least I have a full day to decide/get cards.

In modern and legacy I use mainly the Zen mountains (the "feel" of the deck determines the art, though I'm partial to the same one ham likes, which is probably the best one.) For standard, I've been using the purple Jon Avon "mountain" from RTR because I have a bunch of them foiled out. Previously I had used the big, reddish looking Mountain from the core sets. If I wasn't on my phone, I'd post a pic cuz that's a horrible description.

Also, the word Mountain in Japanese (I think? It's obviously ....Asian) looks like a puppy.

Yama? 山?

Mah mountains: http://magiccards.info/jvc/jp/61.html I have all four arts, plus a few miscellaneous foil japanese mountains. My favorite art of all time is this one: http://magiccards.info/mm/en/346.html. I have several foils of it.

Suga, I got extra Satyrs and Hammers if you'd like them. Losing your job fucking blows, especially during new release time and then winter around the corner.

Brace yourselves, winter is coming....

Anyway, bad game of thrones jokes aside, PM me your address if you're interested.

Hey guys been busy all weekend. Didnt get to FNM or release :( But attempting to play in Heros Challenge tomorrow, LGS Block constructed. What do you think of this deck? Strong enough with the transform board?

[deck]Boros Heroes[/deck]

Haven't gotten a chance to test it but a Firebreathing Fabled Hero seems like it can close games...

You legitimately cannot follow your one drop up with a two drop. Ever. As it stands. you have 4 one drops and 12 three drops.

Cards to look at:
-Favored Hoplite
-Akroan Hoplite
-Akroan Crusader
-Dauntless Onslaught
-Hero of the Pantheon

These all performed incredibly well for me in when drafting the R/W heroes deck. You want more one drops, and you actually need a two drop that you can cast on turn two. 16 creatures in a creature-based deck also seems too low. I'd recommend dropping Phalanx leader and committing to Boros with Akroan Hoplite, or dropping Firedrinker in favor of Soldier of the Pantheon.

I drafted Theros and went 3-0 when somebody passed me a Hammer of Purphoros, 2 Lightning Strikes, and a Magma Jet. So I went all red with a light splash of blue for Griptide and Aqueous Form.

Building a curve for you agro deck. Minimum:

8 1-drops
8 2-drops
7 3-4 drops

And then spells. Average CMC wants to be around 2/3 with very little top end.

there's no way you mean me.

so I've tossed together a white weenie deck for the time being (it's fun to play for 2-3 rounds before drafts start), but I'm wanting to test out a few more decks in the upcoming weeks and see if I wanna play more standard since I've been mainly drafting since m14 dropped.

not sure if I want to try zen's hyper-boros list, borrow a RB list, or try some UR midrange/control. depends on if I can make only one or both standard nights this week I guess.

and no matter which way I go I'm gonna have to buy more Zen fullarts :<

Dega apparently took first at my stores FNM and my friend who cashed GP Oakland took 5th at a 5k with GW so...I think you're using blanket statements and disagree.

Granted, his GW deck was more G/w and had an actual lategame since he was playing maindeck Witchstalker/unflinching courage and he says he lost in top 8 to runner runner verdicts.
