[THS] Agent of the Fates
They decided to show us today that there are two cards in this set with the Heroic ability.

this card is probably irrelevant until a relevant card that triggers heroic is printed. as are all of the other heroic cards.
this and the double striker come closest, but there's still no way to trigger them so it's mostly irrelevant.
unless you're like giving your guy double strike with the worst mode of boros charm or +2/+2 and trample with selesnya charm.
right now you have to play bad cards or the least good modes of cards with multiple modes for the sake of triggering heroic, which isn't where you want to be with an entire ability. you want to have a card that is good that also synergizes with creatures with heroic that are also good on their own (double strike guy) or have effects so powerful that it doesn't necessarily matter if the base card itself isn't the best (agent).
the other heroic cards are sort of like the ally cycle from zendikar/worldwake, except some of them only affect themselves instead
of developing your whole board and advancing your game state. it's good that a lot of the effects are permanent, but playing giant growth in your deck just to put a +1/+1 counter on your guy and maybe do a thing seems completely awful. allies were only playable at the most farthest fringe, i don't think you can expect a heroic deck in that regard.

that +4/+2 satyr and possibly similar creatures may be the best way to trigger heroic in standard. it's just that so many of the effects that trigger heroic are the ones that make you most likely to get 2-for-1ed in an environment with an absurd number of great removal spells in black, white, and red and vicariously blue through most of those.
