Are you not activating battalion? What flavor of midrange are you having issue with? I am not a fan of Weird at all, not even a little. Card has never been good in any of my testing. It might be correct to -4 BTE, -4 FFS, -2 GSC +4 AZ, +4 RSF, +2 Shock if the falter effects aren't helping. here's t...

Okay I'm going to do some testing today, with Shred-Freaks instead of FFS. I don't think the FFS really improve the midrange match up that much but the extra damage against control is huge. The other thing I'm considering is just main boarding the Weirds to get more deck space in the 75. He's an aut...

Boy today was tough. Pretty discouraging results. Hard to tell if it's me or the deck. Lost to pretty much everything. But lost close every time. Question: what are people's results so far?

the problem I had against RBW midrange was I couldnt act of treason for lethal when he played his first demon, or get enough of a board precense to be able to steal a reckoner/2nd demon/ w/e to steal, sac and have lethal. So if I tried to steala demon hed just sac a guy and crack back for lethal be...

Is there a particular reason nobody is running Firefist Striker right now? I think my hardest matchup so far has been various midrange decks, particularly those with access to Unflinching Courage . FFS doesn't really fix the Courage problem as much but busting through their first drop to "stop ...

Well the biggest reason to not run Reckoner in the main is the sacrifice of multiple Mutavault, which is kind of a problem anyway. I personally feel this deck is soft to G/R Monsters. Reckoner is easily your best card in that match up. It's obviously weaker against control but to me we have a strong...

So I've got the deck ready to go but for the last 56 cards. I was all set to go with the Shred-Freaks but my friend sleeved up Strikers for me while I was at work and made a pretty strong argument that they just do more against mid range strategies and the mirror. Obviously you're getting an extra 2...

Man, pondering the possibilities of Nythkos, Shrine to Nyx can be exciting. I'm just afraid that deck space constraints might make it difficult to really use. Given most of us expect a lot of utility out of Boros Reckoner in the main, the deck is going to want something in the area of 19 or 20 red s...

With this much devotion, I really think having a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is a better plan if you're boarding it alongside Chandra. Being able to have the chance to have enough mana to use her 0 the turn you play her and then being able to easily play both cards you draw the following turns would jus...

So after hearing everyone's thoughts, including Zem's and Alex's livestream (at leas the first 30 minutes of which the recorded video would play for me), I've come up with the following list to try a Red Devotion Wins style build: Lands (22): 1 Mutavault 21 Mountain Creatures (29): 4 Firedrinker Sa...

Also what are people thinking on the Shock vs. Magma Jet? My thinking is in a 22 land deck it helps avoid flooding, and that with fewer turn 1 plays you have to kill from different decks, I like the Jet more. But I've heard a lot of commentary the other way. Thoughts?

What kibler list are you referring to if i may ask? The G/R list with mana accelerants and Hellrider and Thundermaw Hellkite . Then everyone started playing Desecration Demon and I boarded Deadly Recluse because I really didn't feel like getting cards to change right before the format ended... Shou...

I've constantly had this problem with midrange which was why I moved on to Kibler once it came out. I really think Act of Treason is the superior card to Mortars for that reason. I don't know, we're going to be playing with the sideboards and tinkering pretty much weekly for a while here until we ea...

@JS: I noticed the list you posted earlier included Rakdos Shred-Freak instead of either Burning-Tree Emissary or Firefist Striker . I understand that with the experiences of the players on this board BTE is only "worth" playing when you have at least 8 other 2 drops that can be cast off i...

I've been thinking of running a RDW shell with a light splash of black for things like Dreadbore and Thoughtseize and Rakdos Return . When I play versions of RDW, my biggest problems are bigger creatures than I have and control decks being able to disrupt my early game enough to survive to the late ...

So how is everyone doing post M14? Seems like this deck is not being played very heavily lately in live tournaments. Do we think it's because red based aggro decks are not positioned well in the current metagame with so many spot removal heavy decks running around, or is it just being under played l...

Yeah, I hadn't really thought of how the Reckoner would interact with the Mutavaults. The idea is/was to have more threats while working around mana flooding and being able to bring in hellkites from the board. I'd be more receptive to the idea of Zealots if it was run more recently in decks that ar...

Went 3-2 at the event. Got some really finnicky hands. 3 separate games I mulled a no land hand into a 1 land keeper with gas on the draw and missed the land drop on turns 2 and 3. I win at least two of those if I make my turn 2 land drop. Made a *bad* misplay against Bant Hexproof when I misunderst...

First time poster. Ran some games against esper sac effects were tough for me as well. I think Domri is kind of fool's gold, personally. You probably want to consistently play threats early and mid game. By the time you want to lean on him in the mid game the game should be prett much decided. I wan...
