Mardu Tokens

I think I'll try this for the next local modern and see how the changes feel. I'm planning to hit up a PPTQ or two every weekend I can starting very soon, so I'd like to get a list nailed down as soon as possible. [deck]2x Figure of Destiny 2x Grim Lavamancer 3x Dark Confidant 2x Soulfire Grand Mast...

Mardu Tokens

1) I haven't tried pack rat yet but have considered it. If you do run rat, do you just jam 4, or would you go with less? I understand about figure, though he has proven to be very strong for me. Maybe that's just the local meta / pet decks I'm used to playing against. 3) Same question, I thought abo...

Mardu Tokens

Hello all, I originally posted this in the BBBSG thread but am also trying it here to see what people think. My version of Mardu is not token based, but I feel like the colors are very strong in the current modern meta. Anyways, here is my post from the previous thread; Hey all, I'm really liking th...

Boros, Beats, Battlestar Galactica

Unfortunately the mardu thread seems to have a lot less interest, and posts from 4 months ago are pretty far removed from the current meta. If this isn't the place to discuss my deck though, I understand. I'll try posting it there and see if it generates any discussion.

Boros, Beats, Battlestar Galactica

Hey all, I'm really liking the new ways this deck has evolved since I first started reading this thread. I originally made my own variant of this deck as a way to fight my local meta, but since then its evolved to the point where I'm hoping it may be competitive at a PPTQ or higher level. I thought ...

Just out of curiousity, how do you guys feel about this deck after the release of JOU? I'm not seeing many, if any, ugrades to the core, and we are looking at some stiffer competition with cards like nyx-fleece ram hitting just about every white deck sideboard. Are most of you guys planning to conti...

Very helpful if you're new to bigger tournaments / MTG events, I'd suggest giving this a read.

Assuming no one at my LGS plays BO, but the decks are pretty varied other than that, do you think that's what my sideboard should look like? There's at least one other burn deck, possibly two, as well as Naya agro and R/G monsters players, so the peak eruptions will do some work.

One thing to keep in mind for the MBC match ups, if they bile blight your tokens, you can shock / blow up the token in response to save the rest. May not matter a good number of games, but if your assemble is pumping out a lethal set of soldiers and they blight you looking to wipe them out, this cou...

I own one foil Assemble in paper, played it in the finals of a small standard tournament on Tuesday to the surprise and dismay of my opponent who was on B/w devotion, who had no answer. Such a good feeling.

Yeah, I know they come out on a bit of a delay, definitely frustrating, but this deck seems to be changing shape so much its kind of understandable.

I'm really suprised Young Pyromancer isn't discussed in Craig's article. I suppose if he's basically going off lists that are 2+ weeks old it makes sense, but that card has been absolutely incredible for me in testing lately. After noticing many sideboard guides suggesting -X Ash Zealots and +X Pyro...

I mostly meant the CFB content, but the comments and quotes here are good too. Your sig from MTG Salvation brought me over here, which is nice because the forum here on the subject seems a lot more active.

Hey, been lurking here for a week or so and playing this deck in local tournaments. Its interesting when you realize just how meta dependent it is. A lot of the shifts in design have been great, but some I've decided to ignore based on the agro heavy my local scene tends to be (Searing Blood and Sat...
