I made Top 8 at the SCG Wisconsin States today, playing Rw Devo. :jam: I'll post details once I decompress.

Quick question I see Purph god of forge , has anyone tried to run that guy and Elspeth and or Assemble for matches that run long? Like an alternate endgame since its already trying to power out strong things? I haven't tried it, but, current SBD is the only "back-up plan" if your devotion...

If your seriously considering taking the deck to a large tourney, to rectify the black matchup in liu of them having access to enchantment removal for your game breakers, I'd considering going back on the 1 drop plan of maining 4 rakdos cacklers and siding 4 satyr firedrinkers. Eidolon also might b...

This is why I like recording; being able to go back and look at other options is nice. I may be stating stuff you already see in hindsight so if so, sorry. Vs Hexproof, game 1 there wasn't much point double blocking since your only out was to try to kill him first. For the sideboard, I would have b...

Videos of me playing the Rw Devo deck during yesterday's DE. I've got a long way to go to play this deck well. (Also, it's the first time in a while recording, so it's not very polished commentary.) Rw Devo - Deck Discussion (opp was a no-show) Rw Devo - vs GW Aggro (a win, but too close for comfort...

One thing I was never short of playing Devo was 2-drops, I thought 12 was plenty. Chandra was always good for me, whereas Purphoros is a big fat do nothing in a lot of games. He's a good man, not sure I'd ever want the second though. Maybe 24 land is right, but I cut see cutting the Zealots and a P...

Montu's FNM Report

I decided to take a break from burn and give Rw Devotion a test run. I took 1st out of 27, going 4-0-split. Here's the (clunky, un-optimized) list I played, patterned after something Brad Nelson posted on SCG. [deck]Land (24) 11 Mountain 4x Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx 4x Sacred Foundry 4x Temple of Trium...

I personally feel that the less interactive we are, the better.
Just so I'm clear (because I heard the term again today), by "interact" you mean doing something that affects their board state, vs burning them or attacking?

The triggered ability goes on the stack, so it can be responded to with Skullcrack.

If you play Skullcrack after the life gain has resolved, they keep it.

It is absolutely brutal to get on the board, in particular against the decks that don't have removal, where you can cast it on T2.

And your point? Don't forget those cards in your SB if you play Naya Hexproof. (Seriously, though, there are some interesting combat trick you could pull off with Electrickery, like swing Ash through a Carytid while killing an elf at the same time, not to mention how it sweeps aggro. But, yeah, the...

Toil//Trouble never seems to be there for me when I need it.s
While I've had some great hits with Trouble, and Toil has gotten me out of some tight spots, taking :symb: out of the mana base does make things more consistent.

I top 8d the IQ with YP$, but both of my losses were to BG. I think I want to put more of a clock on them with ash zealot, trying to possibly force them to use Abrupt Decay on my two drop rather than one of my 6 enchantments. I don't think we can rely on Assemble as much vs them, so the idea of inc...

Crypt Incursion

Got surprised by this. Opp was at 5 life. I was expecting to Skullcrack him for 3, get 2x Phoenix back, and swing with one of them for his last 2 life. Instead, my Phoenix's got exiled and he was up to 8 life. (Fortunately, I won a few turns later because I was able to get Chandra on the board and g...

I got my fist round of paper cards today - a booster box and fat pack. Looks like my daughter's WW deck is going to benefit more than anything I would run.

I'm not sure if people are using bots to try to join. Some guy named RJing just got in both phantom events within 2 seconds of each other.
He's now in all 4 events.

I've got all 4 events open. The block events have a slot open up every once in a while, but even when you click immediately, someone else gets it. Hasn't moved in the last 20 minutes though.

I haven't seen anything open up in the phantom events.

Going to the White Side

I've been playing my 12-year-old daughter's WW deck online so she can see the lines of play and learn how to side board. I scored 11 wins out of 12 matches. Not ready for JOU

I finally don't completely suck with Burn. With so many potential new cards (for all decks), it feels like completely starting over to learn the format and sequences of plays. (I guess that's what makes MTG fun . . . ever changing.) Perhaps it's time to take a step back and focus more on the fundame...
